Chapter 2

After that, Frank took his phone and made a call.

The piercing cold and unbearable pain made me feel like I would rather die than continue suffering.

“Lucy, don’t worry. I’ll keep an eye on him.”

The moment I heard Lucy’s voice on the other end of the line, my hope returned.

I shouted myself hoarse toward the door, “Lucy, I can’t hold on much longer from the car accident! Tell Frank to take me to the hospital now!”

At that point, I could not hold back my screams of pain anymore.

Frank hesitated for a moment and quietly said, “Lucy, he sounds like he’s in so much pain. What if it really is serious? He doesn’t sound like he’s faking it.

“Maybe I should take him to the hospital first. He’s really capable, and you still need his help with the company. Something could actually happen to him…”

Lucy fell silent for several seconds, as though she was considering it. Then, her tone softened. “You should take him—”

Just then, a deep, smooth voice interrupted from her end of the line. “Lucy, as long as you’re here with me, nothing will go wrong with the surgery.

“Is Larry injured? Don’t worry. A real man isn’t afraid of a little pain. Look at me. They connected so many tubes to my orifices, and I don’t feel any pain. I can even get up and throw a couple of punches.

“I’m sure Larry doesn’t feel much pain either.”

Of course he did not feel any pain. Lucy had placed him in a private hospital that charged a hundred and fifty thousand dollars a day. The medical staff meticulously attended to every aspect of his care.

Lucy believed Alan and snapped coldly, “What could possibly happen to him? He’s far too cunning to ever put himself at a disadvantage!

“He’s only screaming on purpose to trick you into letting him out. Don’t let him fool you!”

Then, Lucy hung up.

After being rebuked, Frank grew furious and released one of his pet snakes into the room!

“This is all your fault! Stay in there and have fun with my snake!”

The next second, the snake’s cold body wrapped around my neck.

I screamed in terror, but it tightened itself around my neck, and I began to struggle for air.

I forced myself to take slow, deep breaths and remain calm. With one hand pressed against my abdomen, I gathered my courage and grabbed the snake with the other. I tried to pull it off.

However, it bit down on my hand. I jerked back in pain and no longer dared to pull at it.

I lay on the floor helplessly as tears finally streamed down my face. It felt as though a meat grinder was grinding the inside of my abdomen.

I was barely conscious when the snake loosened its coil around my neck. It slithered across different parts of my body and bit me repeatedly.

However, I could no longer feel anything. Through the haze, I seemed to see the grim reaper beckoning me.

Just as I thought I was about to die, Frank showed up.

With a single whistle, he called his snake back to him.

He pounded heavily on the door, but I did not have the strength to call out.

Frank seemed to panic. He took out a key and opened the door to the cold storage room.

The room was dimly lit. He crouched down and grabbed my neck but could barely see my expression.

He sneered and slammed my head hard against the ground.

“You’re such a despicable person. Did my precious snake scare you out of your mind?

“Why aren’t you putting on an act anymore? Go on, keep screaming!”

Frank’s gaze was filled with nothing but disgust toward me.

“So, you finally realize that no matter how much you scream, Lucy will never let you out. That’s why you stopped. Hah!

“You really are as selfish as ever. You only do things that benefit yourself and never accept anything that doesn’t!”

He played with the snake in his hand. Then, a sliver of light from the outside illuminated the blood on its body.

Frank immediately flew into a fit of rage and kicked me hard in the abdomen.

“Larry, what the hell is wrong with you?! Why did you hurt my precious snake?! Its life is worth far more than your worthless life!”

His heart hurt as he looked at his snake.

“If anything happens to my precious snake because of you, I’ll make Lucy divorce you! Besides, Alan’s the one she’s always loved. Once you’re gone, they can finally be together.”
