Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Mohini
James' POV

The tight coil in my heart finally unraveled when I hung up.

I recalled how the entire world had been against Wanda's stubborn decision to marry me. Her parents looked down on me because of my regular family background, and Wanda herself was nearly expelled from Glorisia Business Association.

However, Wanda had shouldered the pressure of public opinion and married me in a grand wedding ceremony.

Everyone said that I was the luckiest man in Glorisia. However, I wasn't the only one attracted to Wanda, who seemed like a goddess in real life.

After receiving a call during our wedding night, she disappeared and didn't return.

I sat in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and smoked through an entire pack of cigarettes.

Wanda reeked of alcohol when she finally stumbled back in the early hours of the morning. She calmly patted my head and asked, "Do you know what the cutest thing about you is? You're mature enough not to cause any trouble. The Fosters need a head of the family like you."

At that moment, the anger I had been suppressing in my heart was completely extinguished.

I learned to behave and not cause a fuss, becoming her perfect trophy husband.

However, Wanda got involved with the man I hated the most in my life, Mason.

I recalled how Dad tried to force Mom to acknowledge Mason as her son when he brought Mason home for the first time.

At the time, Mom, who had always been a headstrong woman, simply hugged me without saying a word. Instead of acknowledging Mason, she gave Dad two options—he could either send Mason away, or she would take me and leave the Gulliver family.

Dad didn't give her an answer. He stood on the balcony and allowed the biting winds to blow past him. Only when he returned to his room did he realize that Mom had jumped out from the window and fallen to her death.

It was a stormy night, and the rain washed away the blood on Mom's corpse.

Wanda had rushed over to hold me. She allowed me to punch her over and over again as she repeatedly murmured, "It's okay…"

However, the same Wanda was also the one who chose Mason as her new lover, destroying what little pride I had left as the head of the Foster family.

Wanda didn't return again that night.

The trending topic that I had paid for was completely buried, disappearing without a trace.

Meanwhile, Wanda proudly took Mason with her while she attended banquets, letting him replace me as the CEO's husband.

She also made a show of inviting everyone in Glorisia to attend Mason's grand birthday party the next day even though she knew that his birthday was also Mom's death anniversary.

It was clear that Wanda wanted me to come to terms with reality and accept that someone like me could never stand a chance against someone like her.

She had also asked her personal doctor to tend to the deep gash on my shoulder.

"Ms. Foster still cares about you. You have to remember that your body isn't like everyone else's. Your injuries don't heal as easily."

I barked out a self-deprecating laugh but didn't say anything else.

In the next second, I received a video from an anonymous sender.

The video showed Mason, who looked like he was having an emotional meltdown.

"When I tried to convince Mrs. Gulliver to accept me as her son that night, she beat me and told me that I didn't deserve it. I accidentally pushed her out of the window during our scuffle, but I only did it out of self-defense. Dad, Wanda, what should I do?"

Mason then slapped his own mouth over and over again, blabbering about how sorry he was toward me.

There was a loud buzzing in my ears. I felt as if my entire world had been turned upside down.

Dad slapped Mason before clutching his chest in anger.

"How on earth did I end up with a son like you? You killed my wife!"

There was a bright red handprint on Mason's cheek as he turned to stubbornly stare at Wanda's back.

"You'll help me, right?" he asked. "You care about me, don't you?"

The silence stretched on for a long time.

My heart leaped into my throat.

I couldn't make out Wanda's expression in the video, but her voice was firm and calm when she said, "You need to go into hiding for the time being. I'll handle the police."

  • My Wife Sleeps in Every Bed but Mine   Chapter 8

James' POVWanda's eyes turned hazy for a brief moment when she heard me. She had fooled around with too many men in the last few years. In the past, I always hated those men—hated them for stealing my wife away from me from right under my nose. I always thought that they were the ones who were giving me a hard time and forcing me into a corner. However, I finally understood now that the person I should have hated was Wanda all along. Not only did she betray my love, but she also betrayed the unconditional trust I placed in her.Wanda frowned deeply, looking as if she couldn't believe it."You would've never said that in the past, James," she said. "Don't you understand my feelings? You're the one I love the most. Those men were just toys for me to alleviate my boredom."I stared into her eyes and said, "Your love is worthless, Wanda."I then swiftly closed the door in her face.Wanda shouted my name as she stood outside the door. It didn't take long before her words turned i

James' POVLillian Smithson was sitting on the edge of the bed when I regained consciousness."You're finally awake," she said.I had already picked up on the unique scent of gardenias that clung to her when she saved me from the cemetery.Lillian used to be my neighbor growing up. As children, we used to tend to gardenias together.I was surprised that she was the one who saved me from my predicament."That hot topic about you that trended on the charts a few days ago, was it true?" she asked suddenly.I chuckled helplessly before saying, "Is this your first time meeting me? I won't debase myself because of a woman."Perhaps I had been trying to figure out Wanda's feelings for me by taking those photos. I wanted to know if she actually cared about me—if she would get jealous after seeing those photos. However, I had forgotten something important. She could care for me while also caring for someone else at the same time. It was why I didn't want to continue that farce any long

Third-Person POVFeeling confused, Wanda accepted the folder from the lawyer and flipped it open. Her heart hammered in her chest when she saw the words printed on the top of the document."This… Isn't this a divorce agreement?"She hastily flipped to the last page and was shocked to see that James had penned his signature on the dotted line."Why would he agree to get a divorce? This is impossible!"Wanda suddenly remembered the anonymous message she had received that night."Oh my, James is seriously amazing in bed! Let me know when you're going to divorce him!"She had been lounging on Mason's bed at the time, collecting material for the paparazzi. She remembered how her temper had exploded when she received the message. She hadn't expected anyone in Glorisia to be brave enough to send her such a provocative message.A few seconds later, she received a photo of James' sleeping face. That was when she realized that she actually cared about James. It was also why she rushed

Instead, she headed toward the cemetery, taking a bouquet of flowers with her.Her eyes widened the moment she stepped into the cemetery. She stood rooted to the spot, utterly stunned by the scene before her.The cemetery was completely covered with dirt and debris from the explosions."W-What happened?" she stammered.Wanda had only pulled out the remote to scare James. She didn't actually press the button.James' mother, Elena Jackson's tombstone had been blown to smithereens. Her photo was buried in the dirt.Just then, the cemetery director hurried over to her, exclaiming, "I have no idea what happened, Ms. Foster. The cemetery was already in this state when I rushed over."Wanda clenched her fists and snapped, "You can't even carry out a simple task! James' POVI looked up at Wanda in shock. Her eyes were devoid of emotion, making the threatening glint in them all the more apparent. She looked like a completely different person from the woman who used to look at me with deep affection.I stubbornly stared at her as my eyes reddened. "I won't!" I shouted.Wanda pulled out a remote from her pocket upon hearing my words, saying, "Don't force my hand, James. There are explosives buried under her grave."Although she said my name softly, I couldn't help but feel as if the devil was whispering in my ear.It turned out that Wanda had laid this trap a long time ago. She had been prepared to threaten me at a moment's notice just to protect Mason.Mom's grave was the only thing I cherished in the world. I couldn't just stand by and let Wanda blow it to smithereens.I swallowed the bloody taste in my mouth and shoved Wanda aside. I then stalked toward Mason and sank to my knees."Mom and I were the ones who wronged you, Mason. I'm so

James' POVEvery word that Wanda uttered rang clearly in my ears, cutting me deeply.Everyone in the world had chosen to keep me in the dark regarding Mom's death, including Wanda, the one person I trusted unconditionally. That night, I had run through the rain to get to the police station. Wanda even got into a car accident when she chased after me. She mustered all her strength to crawl out from under the car and grabbed my ankle with her bloody hand."Go home, James. I'll handle the rest."I naively believed that she would seek justice for me and Mom. I refused to believe that Mom would take her own life and leave me behind.I never would have guessed that my own father and wife would betray me.…The next day, I showed up at Mason's birthday party in a disheveled state.Mason had one arm intimately wrapped around Wanda's slender waist as he excitedly showed off the gold ring she had given him. It was a family heirloom that had been passed down in the Foster family for gene
