David Brown

It was four in the evening when the door to Sheila's room was knocked. The little girl and her had chatted for good hours before she finally gave to exhaustion and dozed off. Now, she was sleeping peacefully on her tiny bed that couldn't accommodate two people. Sheila was going through today's papers to see any job vacancy to try her luck. Even after failing,she knew that she couldn't loose hope and give up.

she put the papers on the coffee table also used as dining table and proceeded to open the door. Hopefully,the little girls family finally found her.

Upon opening the door, she was met with a well built man standing on her door. He was dressed in a black fitted suit and donned black sunglasses.

" Good evening Sir, how may I help you?" Although the man was intimidating with his burly body,he didn't pass as a dangerous Man in the eyes of Sheila.

The man said nothing and just stepped aside and behold,stood a man. Six feet tall, medium sized body,well chiseled jawline and sword like brows.His eyelashes were thick and his nose was sharp pointed.He was the perfect definition of handsome.

Sheila was not One to take second glances at Men but this time, she found herself In a daze admiring the piece of art standing by her doorstep. She almost whistled but held herself back.That was vee's style of appreciation.

" Hello Miss ,Am looking for a little girl,four years old in a pink dress and two pigtails on her head." The man's pleasant voice greeted Sheila jolting her back to concentration.

" Oh yeah,may I know who you are or atleast show me your ID to prove relation?" Sheila inquired. Just because he was handsome did not mean she'll hand over the little girl to him without being sure. Nowadays with the rampant kidnapping, Sheila didn't want to make any mistake.

" Oh yeah, she's my daughter and this is my card." He said handing her a casual card with the name David Brown.

After Sheila confirmed that the two were really related,she let David into the room while the two Men who looked like bodyguard remained standing outside.

" She fell asleep already. Should I wake her up?" Sheila asked and David shook his head.

Sheila offered him a seat and she moved to settle at the bed while she continued looking for a job.

David looked around the house. Even though it was old,it was very clean. Then he turned to look at the woman sitting opposite him who was engrossed in her world treating him like he was not present.

.He bet that she didn't recognize him at all. Being the CEO of Brown co-op,he was on business news and sometimes entertainment news. Everywhere he passed, people would recognize him at first glance but it seemed this woman here didn't.

Her face was pure and very beautiful. She looked like a lotus growing in the pond, despite the mud,it came out very pure. He found himself dazed Just looking at her as she concentrated on her work. For some strange reasons,he felt pulled to her. David had to admit that her beauty was unparalleled. She could outsmart even the top model in the City. Under her casual skirt and blouse,he could trace her hour glass shape.

He shook his head to distract the flow of his thoughts. At the same time, Lily stirred causing the little woman to turn to her. Slowly,she blinked her eyes , looking at the woman.

It was the first time David saw his daughter Lily smile to a woman, and that to a stranger she only met today. To say he was surprised would be an understatement, he was astounded.

" Beautiful sister,did I sleep for long?" Lily's childish voice rung in the air.

Again David was surprised. The tone used by his daughter was affectionate, something even he as her father, rarely got to be addressed with.

He wondered what it was that the woman did to his daughter to make her like her that much.

" Ofcourse not,you just slept for one hour or so. That isn't enough for a small girl like you ." Sheila commented patting lily's head.

Another surprise for David.

His daughter Lily was so egoistic that she would never allow anyone to pat her head,not even himself. His daughter would complain that she was not a child anymore and needed not be treated like a child making David wonder if a four year wasn't a child,then what was she?

" Am no small girl, beautiful sister." Lily complained looking aggrieved.

" Yeah,yeah you are a big girl,I know that." Sheila replied shaking her Head helplessly. Ever since the little girl arrived,she has abhorred the name little girl insisting that she was no a small girl.

" Your daddy came to fetch you,it's time to go home." Sheila announced. Although she was reluctant to let the little girl go,she didn't have an option. She was not her daughter afterall.

" I wish I had a daughter,as sweet as her." Sheila said inwardly gazing at lily ever so affectionately. Ofcourse,that look did not escape David's eagle like eyes. ' It seems the little woman likes my daughter. that's strange, nobody can tolerate my stubborn little girl, she must be special.' Those were the thoughts passing through David's mind.

" Can I come visit again?" Lily asked, looking straight to Sheila's eyes. David too wanted to see if she'll still allow lily to visit again.That way,he can see her again.

" Ofcourse baby,you can visit me anytime as long as you let someone know. Don't come running alone and remember not to run away again,it's dangerous " Sheila replied, gently reprimanding lily for running away.

" okay beautiful sister,I promise to not run away again." She obediently replied like the good girl she was. After lily saw Sheila at the park, she was attracted to her and wanted to make her her mother. Since her father was so incompetent in looking for a mommy for her, she will do that herself.
