Isla’s POV

The house was warm, filled with the soft twinkle of Christmas lights and the faint scent of pine from the decorated tree in the living room. Christmas music played quietly from the kitchen speaker, but it didn’t bring Isla the joy it once did. Instead, it felt like background noise to the loneliness she was trying to push away.

She sat on the couch, watching Shane Jr. and Lily build a gingerbread house on the coffee table. They were laughing, bickering over who got to place the last gumdrop on the roof, but beneath their joy, she could see it the sadness, the confusion. They missed the way things used to be.

Isla’s stomach twisted. She knew this was coming. It had been weeks, and the kids weren’t letting it go.

“I don’t know, baby,” she said softly, running her fingers through Lily’s hair.

“But why not?” Shane Jr. chimed in, frowning. “Did they move?”

ANONYMOUS POV Two weeks had passed, and April was now in full swing. Sade had successfully managed to avoid Adamo after their last two encounters. Nothing else had happened between them, and she made a conscious effort to ensure it stayed that way. Her main focus was making sure the kids got to school and handling her responsibilities. This was her off week, which meant she had a little more time to herself.Marco, on the other hand, had been in a terrible mood. When he came to pick up the kids, his attitude was worse than usual. He didn’t even get out of the car. Instead, he sent her a text message: Bring the kids out.Sade sighed but did as instructed. When she brought them outside, Marco hopped out just long enough to grab their bags, not speaking a single word to her. He tossed the bags into the trunk, lifted the twins into their seats, instructed Kamari to get into her booster seat, and told Marco Jr. to sit in the front. Then, without another word or even a glance in her direct

Sade POV As I quickly leave my office, I head straight to my locker, grabbing my purse and phone. My fingers move swiftly as I dial Marco’s number.“I’m on my way to get the kids,” I tell him, my voice steady despite the chaos in my mind.“Yeah, I’ll meet you at the house. See you then.” His voice is casual, oblivious.I hang up and rush to my car, throwing my bag onto the passenger seat before gripping the steering wheel. The second the door shuts, frustration spills over.“Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit! What the fuck am I going to do?”This man, he’s like a drug, an addiction I can't quit. I keep telling myself to stop, but the second I’m near him, I crumble. He takes care of me, makes me feel things I never even thought were possible. Marco? He never put me first, never made me feel like this. What happened in my office today? That would have never happened with Marco. With him, everything was a transaction. But this? This was raw. Unfiltered. Mind blowing.Thirty minutes of pure,

I just hope I can walk properly after what you just did to my poor little kitty."I burst out laughing. If only she knew that was just the tip of the iceberg. I want her again. I want her spread out in my bed, completely at my mercy in every position I can think of.But then she says something that makes my stomach drop."Adamo, you know this was wrong, right?" Her voice is soft but firm.I see her lips move, but it’s like my brain refuses to process the words. "What did you just say?""This was wrong," she repeats, her gaze dropping. "And it can never happen again."I stare at her in disbelief. For real? Is she actually saying this to me? Because

But lately, something else had been stealing her focus.Adamo Rossi.Ever since he had witnessed her vulnerable moment at the elevator to the parking garage, he had quietly inserted himself into her world offering companionship in the form of late-night work sessions, shared meals, and an unspoken understanding.Tonight was no different.“Hey, worker bee,” Adamo’s deep voice broke through the silence as he leaned against the doorway of the lab. “I ordered food. Why don’t you stop and have a bite?”Sade smirked, glancing up from her work. “Give me five minutes.”“Well, don’t blame me if the food is cold by the time you get

His throat tightened, and he took a deep breath, trying to find the words."I remember the first time I saw you," he said, his voice cracking. "We were in grammar school. You were this lively, bubbly little girl, and it felt like you had this aura around you. You were smart, strong, kind... You didn’t take shit from anybody, and I knew I had to be next to you. And, you know, as we got older, I developed these feelings. I'd see other guys around you, and I’d get jealous. I wanted to beat the hell out of them. You were mine, you know? From the first day I saw you, I knew you were mine. And I don't wanna lose you."He wiped his eyes, tears rolling down his face. "I can't lose you."Sade’s hands went to her face, her shoulders shaking as she started crying too. Marco’s heart broke seeing her like this. He continued, his voice barely audible but full of emotion."I don’t know
