(Luca Delacroix's POV)
I have had so many women in my life. Countless women have thrown themselves at me. I was running an empire worth—of course they wanted me. I could get any woman I wanted.
I wouldn’t say the woman I am currently with is any different, but there is something about her that appeals to me. She looked sad and lonely regardless of her laughing and jumping and moving her hips from side to side in that hypnotic manner. I couldn’t stop looking at her.
Funny I had come to Maddie’s bar to look for someone and ended up taking another home. Many would say she was exactly my type—jet black long hair, oval-shaped face, and full plum lips.
Ohh fuck, the things I could imagine using that lips for.
Although I didn’t know her name, knowing her name was not important. I’ve had sex with several women, and never have I ever asked for their names. Some give their names to me without a second thought, but I didn’t care to store it in my memory, as I could find another woman in the blink of an eye.
But I knew this one was different, and she wasn't my type in particular. I mixed mainly with women of my standard that came from wealthy families. But never have I ever gone for a woman who had nothing.
Moving my nose down her neck to her breast, I sucked on her nipple, twirling my tongue around it. Her moans were mesmerizing. They told me not to stop, that she is enjoying what I’m doing to her.
Her creamy pale skin that was velvety soft and yearning for my touch erupted in goosebumps. Good. I had an effect on her just like she had on me.
I let my fingers glide down to her panties, which were still on. She was so fucking wet. She was so ready for me to sink my cock in, but not now.
“You are so beautiful, baby!” I whispered in her ears.
Making my way down to her shaved pussy, I inhaled deeply. She was definitely intoxicating. I wrapped my lips around her clit and sucked hard. She moaned in excitement. As I continued, her moan grew louder.
“Please!” she begged.
I sped up my tongue action, making her spasm under me. When her climax came, it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw.
I kissed her lips and her neck, and I did something that shocked her.
“Sleep, baby, we have tomorrow,” I whispered.
She looked at me with glazed eyes, a hint of disappointment , and instead of protesting, she turned around and fell asleep promptly. And I was shocked. I thought she wanted more, but I guess I was wrong. Throughout the night, I watched her as she slept soundly.
A call came into my phone at 3:00 AM. Trust my father to make it the most awkward time to call.
“Son, how is it going?”
“I’m good, Dad. If you’re calling about the job, I haven’t found it yet,” I quickly say, so if he was going to get disappointed, they should do so now.
“I knew it wouldn’t be easy to find, but this is the only way, and you know it,” he said to me. “And you have to take as long as is needed.”
“I’m trying my best. But you know that our business will not run itself, right? I can’t leave the business indefinitely just to look for a jewel.”
“It is important to me, so it is important to our family, Luca. Do well to remember that.”
“I’ve heard you, Dad. Can I go back to sleep or are there some more things you need me to do for you?”
“No. We’ll talk in the afternoon, and I'll send you some documents to cross-check,” he said, ending the call.
Trust my father to ruin a good night. I had one mission—find the jewel. But right now, it was put on hold for this woman beside me. She was too tempting to resist.
I did not realize when I fell asleep, but at some point, I did. I opened my eyes and looked around, quite disoriented by my surroundings. I wondered why I slept here, and then my memory came back to me. And last night’s events came flooding in.
And looked at the empty space beside me and realized she was gone. The lady had gone, and I did not know her name. I didn’t even get the phone number. No woman had ever slept, me, Luca Delacroix and not want something more. They stayed over till morning just to get thrown out.
And here was this lady not ready to be seen with me. It's either that or she doesn't even know who I am. She puzzled me greatly.
I got up, headed for the bathroom. I took my shower and called my driver to come pick me up. I had a lot to do today.
Today was a new day, and I needed to find that jewel before it became a permanent job for me.
As I get into the waiting car, Marco looks at me.
“Sir, you're not looking so good,” he teased.
“And I guess the salary won’t look so good either,” I teased him back.
“I don’t mind, Sir. I enjoy working for you, regardless if you pay me or not,” Marco responded.
With time, Marco had become the brother I never had and a friend every single time when I needed one.
As I wanted to respond back to his comment, I had a call on my phone. I expected it to be my father, but it was George and Francisco—men who my father had sent with me to look for the jewel.
“Good morning, Sir. I think we’ve located where the jewel is, and I just wanted to inform you.”
“Good. Bring it to me.”
(Luca Delacroix POV)I didn’t wait for her to come up with a comeback. That sharp tongue of hers was something that both turned me on and infuriated me at the same time. I made sure to take her straight to my room.Although the entire time she kept glaring at me, I was stronger—and if she knew what was good for her, she would make the right choice by following me.As soon as we were in my space, I shut the door and she yanked her hand away from mine.“This is kidnapping! You are all insane!” she hissed, her chest rising and falling in that hypnotic way she always did whenever she was in my presence.I exhaled slowly, trying to cool off the molten lava that was going to erupt from me. I was hurt she would think I would even kidnap her. Although I don’t doubt that I could use such methods if she wasn’t my sister.“You’re not a prisoner, Gemita Roja. What I would like to know is, why are you acting like a cornered animal?” I muttered. She crossed her hands in front of her with defiance.
(Claire's POV)My vision turned red in an instant. What did he mean by I can’t? Who was he to dictate my life? He hadn’t even been in it for the past years.“What did you say?” I asked, my voice a bit louder than usual. He looked up from his plate at me. “You heard me, Claire.”My hands clenched into fists. “Victor, Maddie’s not just anyone to me. She is my family. She’s the only person that was there when you were not there for me. She understands me best.”Victor’s fork clattered on the plate as he glared at me. “Yet she does not own this house—I do. The whole damn place is mine. There are rules you must follow, young lady. There are boundaries you must not cross.”I stood up, the force pushing my chair backward. “You talk about boundaries? You’re a hypocrite! You dragged me here without warning, dropped some lame fortune at my feet like it meant something, and now you feel you are entitled to who I can and cannot see? Where were you when I was starving with Maddie? Where were you w
(Claire’s POV)“So you don’t trust me, huh? What I would like to know is why you let me lick you so good. You whimpered all night long,” Luca said, his words so vulgar my core throbbed in response. What a bad response. He cornered me at a space under the stairs. His frame blocked out all the air—and my thoughts included. His scent was male cologne mixed with danger and heat. As I moved to give myself some space, I realized I was already against the wall. He was far too close for my health. His eyes were so intense, it was like they were looking into my very soul. His gaze moved over my mouth and a little lower.“So you end up in bed with random men you don’t trust? Or was that just a convenient mistake?” he asked, his words mocking me.I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of an answer. If he wanted me to break, he had to try a lot harder.“So you won’t say anything, gemita roja?” he asked.I was tempted to clarify that my name wasn’t whatever he was calling me, but I held mysel
Luca Delacroix – POV“Luca, come on in, my boy, and meet your sister. Her name is Claire,” my father said, gesturing with a smile I had never seen him wear before.“My sister?” I repeated after him as I moved closer to where they were and picked a seat close to my father’s desk.Ivy, no, Claire was seated directly in front of me, frozen in place. She had to be as shocked as I was. Her throat bobbed, and I had the urge to wrap my hands around it.Wait. What was I thinking? She was my sister. A sister I definitely wanted to sink my claws into and make her moan my name so our father would hear.Fuck. I had it bad.Her chest rose and fell, which got me hypnotized.“I’m so glad your sister is here with us now. Good job on finding her,” my father commented.‘Sister’ was all that echoed in my head as my father kept talking. She lowered her lashes, trying to hide from the truth. But she would learn—not to hide from me.“I am glad she is with us now,” I said, masking my true feelings with a sm
Luca Delacroix – POVMy private jet began to taxi down the runway. I had claimed my seat. Despite the luxury that cocooned me, my mind wasn’t on that flight. My attention was focused on the blood red jewel that sat in my palm.Damn, it was beautiful.I turned it slowly between my fingers, examining it carefully—how the lights bounced off every cut, every facet. It wasn’t a particularly large stone, but it was mesmerizing. Symmetrical, deep in color, and unnervingly flawless.I was hardly impressed by anything, but this one had my full focus.“Delicate little thing,” I murmured to myself, running my thumbs over its smooth edges. It wasn’t just a gem. It was something else—something that stirred a strange itch under my skin. It was significant. It was significant to my father. He had searched for this gem for quite a long time. While he searched for it relentlessly, I always wondered why it was so important.“Sir?”A familiar voice snapped me out of my daze. I looked up and saw Ariana.
Claire’s POVI froze in place when I heard California. My knees weakened and I dropped back into my seat in defeat. I had never been there before. My life was built in New York. What the hell was waiting for me on the West Coast?I clenched the armrest so tightly my knuckles were white. I stared through the oval window, watching as the clouds swallowed the ground. In a few hours, we had touched down in California. My eyes felt heavy. I hadn’t slept the night before, and I hadn’t eaten. All I did was sit rigid in the leather seats, watching the sky change while everything around me was unrecognizable.A black SUV waited for us just beyond the runway. Another driver. No explanations. I had lost the fight to ask them for more explanations. The warmth of the car kissed my skin. My thoughts were too loud. I wanted to scream. We drove in silence, past orchards and vineyards. Finally, we came to an iron gate with a massive building a few miles away. I sat so close to the window, my hands we
