Retrieve

Forced into a seemingly uncompressible position, the young vampwolf agreed to hear the feral invaders out.

“What do you want?” Scott asked.

“It’s not what we want. The werewolf pinning Scott down said as he released down his grip and reverted into a young black male wearing a biker jacket and blue pants. “The name’s Goliath. The werewolf keeping your sister company over there is Cross. The king sent us to find his halfling bastard to do him a little favor.”

“What favor?”

“Just a little game of fetch Goliath said. He wants the medallion of the day but since the princess has its Moon crest, he needs a vampire to go in.”

“Mooncrest?” Scott asked puzzled.

“How sad. The vampwolf doesn’t know about the kingdom of vampires?” Cross teased him while snarling over Sardonyx who struggled to break free.

“Kingdom?”

“Here’s a quick history lesson, half-blood.” Goliath said.” Ever heard of Transylvania?”

“That place for monsters? I thought that was made-up stuff for movies.”

“It’s real, alright. At least it was until they were walkers and vampires took over cost any other folklore back to Parabola.”

“Why?”

“The vamps and wolves wanted a place on earth where each of their species could live without begin hunted or having to compete with other folklore. “Cross explained.

“Lucky, the royal families of each one got diaphoretic immunity to stay in this world. So long as vamps and wolves played nice with each other.”

“Who would let them stay in the human world?” Scott asked.

“That is a whole different story, Vampwolf. But it’s got something to do with that badge you took from your adopted wenches’ corpse.”

“We don’t get all days, Goliath,” Cross said. “Quit the history lesson and just get to the damn point.”

“Down, girl.”

As Scott hung off every word that he said, Goliath pulled a blue ball with a wolf head imprinted on it.

“This ball will take you to Bloodstock your pop’s kingdom.” Your job is to go to Mooncrest get the other medallion and bring it to the king.

“That asshole abandoned me before I could walk. Why would I help him with anything?”

“Maybe to get your mom back.

Scott's heart dropped and his breath sharply shortened.

“My…. real mom?”

“Sometime after you were born out of wedlock, the original werewolf queen; Queen Heva, found out about her husband’s affair. Naturally, she was furious and tried to kill the bloodsucker.”

“But my mom got to her first.” Scott finished.

“Bingo” Cross snarled did not long for the king to have her locked up. The only problem was that the queen gave the other medallion to her daughter, Dola before getting caught.”.

“Grab the Medallion and your filthy blood-sucking mama is free.”

Cross threw sardonyx against the wall, rendering her unconscious before transforming into a bold young white woman in bike clothes.

“You got three days, Vamp wolf. You lost one mom. Do you want to make it a two-for-one deal? “Cross said.

“Enjoy the reunion.” Goliath joked before he and Cross zoomed out the door and left the church.

Scott ran to his sister as she came to.

“Scotty...” Sardonyx uttered.

“Don … you, okay?”

“A little roughed up. What about you?”

Scott looked at the ball Goliath left on the bed.

The strange object began to spark a sense of uneasiness in the young vampwolf as he knew of the responsibilities that had now befallen him.

“I’ve been better.”

Burdened with the promise of saving his birth mother, Scott turned to his sister for guidance.

“I can’t believe what just happened.” Sardonyx said.

“Guess it’s safe to say my old man killed our mom,” Scott said.

“What makes you think…….”

“You saw how quick those goons came in. Cannot think of any other kind of folklore that could have caused that type of damage. Besides, a similar scent that was around mom’s corpse came off Goliath when he pinned me down.”

“You saying Goliath killed our mom?”

“Not exactly. His scent was diluted. It was almost like something was covering him…

‘The Medallion of night? The one that your dad has.”

“Yeah. Either he sent a werewolf to the house and gave that wolf a power-up or...

“He did it himself.”

A loud knocking on the door interrupted their conversation as they approached the door with more caution than before.

“Not going to knock me off my game this time. “said Sardonyx.

Sardonyx pulled her arms back ready to cast a spell as Scott reached for the door, opening it to find an injured Pastor Miles.

“My Children the Pastor uttered.” You must run Pastor Miles fell forwarded as in to catch him.

“Get him on the bed.” Sardonyx said.

Scott laid the Pastor on the bed gently while the Pastor temperature Sky rocked.

“He’s burning up.”

Sardonyx waved her hands over his head as she prepared a spell.

“Reverti haec mortals' iniurias.”

Rainbow lights emulated from Sardonyx’s hands as the Pastor’s bruises gradually disappeared.

The pastor regained consciousness as Scott and Sardonyx gathered around him.

“Pastor. What happened to you?” Scott asked.

“Two bikers came to the door at first I thought they came for prayer but once they came inside, they turned.” Sardonyx said.

“Yes, my dear. I know.” Said the pastor. “I ran as far as I could to stop those hoodlums. But unfortunately, I was too slow to intervene sooner.”

“You’ll be safe, Pastor,” Scott said as his eyes shifted into a crimson red tint. “Just rest easy, Pastor. Everything is fine now. There were no intenders tonight and you were never attacked. “

The Pastor fell asleep as Sardonyx healed the last of his injuries.

“You’re starting to get good at that said Sardonyx.

“Yeah. Hopefully, it is enough to get the medallions.

“‘Wait. You’re going through with this.”

“My old man sent his mutts to get to me. I mean look at what happened to just one human that meddled. I can’t let these vamps on wolves harm anyone else.”

“I get that pro seriously. But what is your plan to go through with this crazy deal?” you don’t even know how to get to this moon place.”

“I don’t. But I know where I can find out.
