She was light; they were darkness. She is innocent; they were cunning. She was optimistic; they were pessimistic. She was not what they wanted as their mate and yet they craved her. They hated her for what she was and yet they wanted all of her for themselves. They tormented her to break her and yet they felt like dying when they saw her in pain. They were trapped with her in a twisted game of fate. Will they be able to win this game, or will the cruelty of the world pull them apart? This was not just about winning the game. This was about their fate entangled with her. Fate was always cruel to her and yet she faced every hurdle with a new determination and smile. Will she be able to smile with the same determination when the secrets of their lives start revealing themselves to her? ----------------------------------------------------------- "Don't be afraid. It will be over soon. I am here with you..... always," he whispered comforting words in her ear while holding her wounded body tightly in his embrace. "You are an illusion, Gabriel. You will be gone once I open my eyes." She murmured weakly, her eyelids heavy. "No, my love.. I am not an illusion, and I will prove that to you," he replied in a determined tone before pulling her body up into his embrace and running towards his car, determined to save her and show her that this world is not just all about hate and bitterness. This world is also filled with love. He regretted coming late to save her. She did nothing wrong. Yet she is the only one who paid the price for others' faults. Life was never fair to her, but Gabriel was now determined to make everything right for her.

My only goal while staying in school all the time was to ignore a specific group of people, not that I am scared of them. It's just, I am sick of being injured almost every day.
I am scared of ghosts. Of course, I am.
I am a normal human being, and a normal human is meant to afraid of ghosts.
But there are some people in the world who are scarier than ghosts.
Just like the gang of bullies in our school who are adamant to make my life miserable every second that I spend in the school.
I breathed out aloud in relief after successfully getting downstairs, but it was so short-lived that I doubted it occurred as soon as I turned at the junction of the corridor.
“Aaahhh.” I screamed in panic when someone, I know who, tripped me. I was vigilant but yet not vigilant enough to save myself.
Again.
I screamed in pain once again when my knees and palms hit the floor and my chin almost touched it.
It was bad. The intensity of the pain was enough to tell me that it was bad. For a second, I couldn’t even breath.
“Watch out, Sheryl. Why I always found kissing the floor?” Jacob Hoffman, one of those bullies, taunted teasingly.
I couldn’t retaliate because it would worsen the situation for me.
One thing that I learned from all these bullies is that they don’t like people talking back to them.
More you talk back, more they find a way to torment you.
“Are you cursing us, Sheryl?” John Fisher, another bully, asked me in the same taunting tone, but I was in so much pain to even register what they were saying.
For a good few seconds, I stayed in the same position. I slowly sat up when I regained my breath again. I hissed in pain, tears filling my eyes immediately when I tried to fold my knees.
I only had one question in my mind.
Why me?
I wasn’t the only scholarship student here, neither did I the only nerd.
So, why me?
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at them.
The group of the most handsome boys of the school was standing in different posture in front of me. All of them were handsome to the extent where they could take over any famous model’s career at any time.
I didn’t know what their parents fed them, but all of them had a masculine body with a godly handsome face, a killing height of over six feet.
But I couldn’t admire their handsomeness because all I wanted right now was to curse them from the bottom of my heart.
Poor me…
I am the only subject of bullying for them when the rest of the girls in school got their admiration and care.
They were like queen bee with so many slave bees flying around them.
“What’s going on here?” I thanked God when I heard my homeroom teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Wendall’s voice.
This school was an elite school and the good thing was that most of the teachers were also from elite families.
So, they don’t show any fear or favouritism towards any student studying here.
That’s why her arrival made me breathe out in relief.
“Sheryl…. What happened?” I looked at her, but my vision was blurred because of tears.
“Nothing happened, Mrs. Wendall. I just tripped on my feet.” I gave her the perfect excuse that I always gave to my teachers whenever they found me in this state.
“Let me see your knees.” She asked while grabbing my arm and helped me stand up. I screamed in pain again, tightened my grip on her hand, almost falling on my knees again.
Once again, I heard a very faint sound like a growl but didn’t pay attention to that. It was common among us.
You see, we are not completely human.
We are werewolves, but the worst part for me was that my wolf was dormant.
We received our wolves at the age of sixteen, but mine didn’t mind showing up.
“It’s bad. You have a competition next week.” Mrs. Wendall mumbled. I slowly got up with her help and breathed out aloud.
“Luther, help her to the infirmary,” she ordered another student sternly.
“I have math class next, Ms. Wendall. Mr. Turner will not let me go inside the class if I go late,” He immediately protested, and I saw her glaring at him.
“I will tell him. Now go,” she ushered him with a stern gaze.
“No need, Ms. Wendall. I guess I can walk on my own.” I said to her politely, saving Luther because we all know Mr. Will Turner is the worst teacher in the school.
“Are you sure?” she asked me, concern written all over her face.
“She tripped on her own feet, Ms. Wendall. You heard her.” Luther protested, and I tightened my grip on Mrs. Wendall’s hand when she was about to say something more to him.
“It’s okay, Ms. Wendall. I think I can manage on my own. I just need a minute.” I comforted her with a faint smile, but I could see that she was clearly angry and disappointed.
She looked back at the boys angrily. I had my back towards them, and I didn’t have any intention to look at their faces to know their expressions.
“They have no rights to treat you like this, Sheryl. You are also a part of this pack just like them,” she grumbled while taking me towards the infirmary. She had a cold personality. Yet she never leaves any student alone if he needs help.
“Thanks for standing up for me from time to time, Mrs. Wendall, but you also know very well that it won’t do anything good for me.” I replied nonchalantly, wincing in pain whenever I took a step.
“You can’t stay silent and suffer like this always, Sheryl. I know th.. that you don’t have a strong background like they have, but it doesn’t give them any right to treat you like this.” She replied to me in a stern tone.
“But things are always like this in our society, right? Fear the strong and bully the weak. In my case, I fall in the latter.” I once again replied nonchalantly, but the pain in my chest increased.
It’s not easy or funny to berate yourself when you have high self-esteem.
I was glad that she didn’t utter a word again. This silence was comforting. My whole concentration was on walking now.
After my mother died during a rogue attack when I was just five, my father left me with my maternal grandparents.
When I turned seven, I learned that he took a chosen mate from his pack, and now he had another family in which I had no place.
After my grandmother’s death, all I had was my grandfather as my only family. As a regular gamma she-wolf, I had no status in the pack, and that’s why they all treat me like trash.
“Not again, Sheryl,” Rachel Hamster, the nurse, exclaimed in shock when she saw me.
“I am leaving you in your care, Rachel. Don’t let anyone come near her here. If anyone dares to disobey, you are free to dial Alpha’s number.” Mrs. Wendall instructed her sternly and looked at me.
“I am okay, Mrs. Fisher. I can heal like a normal wolf, and you know that.” I assured her once again. She didn’t smile but looked at me sympathetically before leaving me with Rachel.
“This is the fifth time in less than two weeks, Sheryl. You need to be careful if you don’t want to lose your knees.” Rachel said to me worriedly.
“I know, Rachel. I will be careful from now on.” I replied to her while looking out of the window with a blank gaze.
After my grandmother died, my grandfather tried to persuade my father to take me back to his family. He was sick and knew very well how the others in the pack treated me.
But my father crushed all my hopes of having my father with me again when my stepmother refused to take me in. They had two children on their own now, and she didn't want to take care of her stepdaughter, not when I didn't have any source of income to provide for them.
It’s not like I needed their financial support, but their words stung worse than a poisonous scorpion’s sting.
“It’s all done. If you want to go back home, you can, Sheryl. Ms. Wendall just called and told me that she got permission for you.” Rachel told me gently.
“Thanks, Rachel, but I want to lie down for a bit,” I requested, and she nodded in understanding. She helped me lie down and tucked me inside the sheet.
“Rest for a while, Sheryl.” She instructed me while gathering her equipment. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I don’t want my grandfather to see me wounded once again, and that’s why I didn’t want to go home this early.
“Oh, you know Sylvester’s twin brother, Gabriel Knight, is coming back?” Rachel asked me, and my whole body trembled hard.
Gabriel Knight.
He is coming back?
Sheryl’s P.O.V.“Be careful, Grandpa. You don’t want to go back to the hospital, do you?” I asked him teasingly while helping him ascend the stairs. The building had five floors, and our apartment was on the third floor.“I hate that place.” He grumbled but it only made me giggle.“I know,” I teased but kept him steady on his feet. His body was still wobbling a little as if he was drunk, but we knew better.“Admit it, Grandpa, you are getting old now.” I continued the conversation going on, teasing him from time to time.“Mind your tongue, young lady. You are old.” He immediately flared and I laughed. After my mother’s death, my mother parents took care of me. My father abandoned me and went away. I learned a few years later that he transferred him to some other pack after my mother’s death, and he found his second chance mate there. In short, I was completely supported by my maternal grandparents and after Grandma left us three years ago, now it was only Grandpa as my closest family.
Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)“What?” he asked, making my anger rise more.“I said get off, you… you pervert. How dare you pinch me?” I yelled at him while craning my neck towards him, looking at him over my shoulder. My gaze met with a pair of electric green cold eyes, but I was so angry that I couldn’t register the coldness.“You haven’t changed at all,” he remarked aloud, rolling his eyes at me, and I growled aloud this time.I may be low by rank, but it doesn’t mean that outsiders also bully me."I should have left you there. I am a big fool to put my life in danger for you... you.. you b*stard. Now get off my bike and get lost," I continued yelling at him, jerking my head here and there from time to time.He chuckled, making me widen my eyes in disbelief. He was still holding me by my waist, and now it was getting on my nerves. He slowly got off the bike and released my waist."Scoundrel," I cursed him again, giving him a threatening look, and drove away.People these days don't pr
Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)My ears perked up when I heard someone yelling, or more than two people yelling angrily. With a furiously beating heart, I slowly moved my face, which was now completely glued to the wall at the end of the wall.My grip on the cycle's grills was tightened in fear.My eyes widened in horror when I saw the horrible scene in front of me.I immediately straightened my face, my whole back pressed to the wall and the cycle pressed on my abdomen. There were actually seven rogues in human forms, and they were fighting with a pack member. That member had his back towards me. He looked familiar, but I couldn’t tell by his back who he was.Rogues were cursing aloud while trying to pin him down, but he was a good fighter.“Run, Sheryl. You will be a liability for him instead of being a help. Go and find help for him,” I urged myself in my heart.I was about to move away when I saw a rogue who was lying on the ground suddenly get up and pick up a solid stick from the gr

Visiting your favorite place again, huh?” My whole body stiffened, snapping out of my trance, and my eyelashes flickered in fear when I sensed Sylvester’s presence near me.Sylvester Knight, the leader of my bullies and the first son of Alpha Adrian Knight."You looked so cute when you tried to mask your fear, Sheryl, you know that, right?" He asked me in a husky but sarcastic voice. It was like a predator toying with its prey before hunting it."Open your eyes, girl," he asked me in the same voice, the hotness on my face increasing, indicating he is closing the distance between our faces."Sylvester, what are you doing here?" I breathed out in relief when the voice of the nurse startled me, and it was a relief."I just came here to see my fellow student, who is so clumsy that she always falls down the stairs, Ms. Shaw." He answered arrogantly.I was still holding my breath, praying to God to make him leave this place
