Sunshine

Chad let out a groan as he lifted his hand to shield his eyes from the blinding light of the rising sun. With how high the windows in his little studio/apartment were, he never would have imagined waking up to light streaming down the windows.

“Damn you, Shawn.” he cursed under his breath as he stirred himself into a seated position. Shawn—his nosy neighbor—had always complained about how dark and gloomy Chad's studio looked. But the artist had not expected the nerd to go as far as opening the windows.

How did he even get up there? Chad thought to himself as he leaned forward, grabbing the unopened pack of cigarettes from his tiny desk. Yes, he was trying to quit smoking but smoking didn't look like it wanted him to quit it. It was just the same with painting, he just couldn't get around to quitting.
