Chapter 2

Chapter 2

WHEN she woke up, her whole body was almost numb. Maybe because of her position on the whole trip. She yawned and stretched her arms. All she felt was body pain. When she suddenly realized that she's been dragged to be with this jerk. She quickly got out of the car. She's in the middle of nowhere for Pete's sake!

"That stupid jerk! Where did that guy take me!" she said, annoyed to herself.

She looked at her surroundings. He was in a secluded place. She also sees a banana farm in the distance while in her other direction is the vast farm. Now where the hell is she at this moment!? The man was not with her and she did not know where he had gone. She opened the backseat door and took her bag. She reached for his cell phone but was very disappointed because her cell phone was not there. It must be taken by him!

"Ugh! This is not happening to me!" she shouted in his absence.

Because of her frustrations, she took her cigarette holder and cigarette extender. She lit it with the lighter attached to her cigarette holder.

"This is not happening to me! Fuck!" she whispered softly to herself while smoking the cigarette she was holding.

She leaned against the car and observed her surroundings. Yes, the place was quite nice and relaxing. She closed her eyes. Even with cigarette smoke, she can still smell the fresh air. She must be somewhere far from home. That's what immediately came to her mind. She knew something was odd too. Suddenly, someone grabbed the cigarette she was holding. He removed the stick from its connection to her cigarette extender.

"Smoking is prohibited my lady," he said and stepped on the cigarette she was smoking.

"What do you think you're doing?" she asked the man with amusement on her face.

"It's simple, I'm with you so I'm in charge."

"Why? Did you also ask me if I wanted to be with you? For your information if you're having amnesia. I was dragged here by you and now you keep on telling me what to do and what should not? You jerk!" she shouted.

"You are loud," he said and narrowed his eyes on her. She glared back at him. He just smirked. He took her bag from inside the car and pulled her. She was dragged again by force until they stopped in front of the wooden house. Yes! A wooden—vintage house to be exact.

"Where did you take me!?" she asked again and removed his hand that was holding her left arm.

"In my home," he replied sparingly. Her lips parted. No freaking way! An old woman came out and met them both.

"Gabrielle? Son, I think you came home early and—" she stopped when she saw her. Gabrielle approached the old woman.

"Mom, it's an emergency that's why I came home early. It's Kathleen, my boss's daughter. She's here for the time being while my boss fixes something important." The old woman looked at her. She smiled rawly at Gabrielle's mother. The old man also gave her a sweet smile. His mother approached her then.

"Come on ija, come in. I'm sorry about our house, I know it's not what you're used to but I'm sure you'll feel comfortable here." Her eyes widened as she looked at Gabrielle. He did nothing and just stared at her.

"Okay," she weakly answered at Gabrielle's Mother. Now she feels like she lost her tongue. She also doesn't want to be rude to the old woman.

"Gabrielle, come and I will prepare breakfast for you," said the old woman. Gabrielle suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist and made her sit on the rattan chair.

"Behave," he said sternly. She swallowed. Oh crap! She felt as if her tongue had completely disappeared because she couldn't even speak immediately.

"Mom, I bought something for breakfast in the village, don't bother cooking," said Gabrielle.

"Oh that's great, give it to me and I'll serve it." Gabrielle immediately moved to give her the plastic bags he was carrying. Gabrielle then sat down in another chair facing her.

"Could you please tell me what was going on?" she asked Gabrielle softly.

"When your father calls, then you'll know."

She stomps weakly on the floor. It's a good thing the floor is made of cement because if it happened to be made of wood it would really make a lot of noise.

"Don't you have a mind of your own? You could just tell me what's going on, right? Why do I have to wait for Papa to call!" Her voice almost rose but she still controlled herself and acted calm even though the truth was that she was about to explode. What she didn't want more than anything was giving her an alibi. She doesn't want suspense. She heard him sigh.

"Eat first," he ordered and suddenly stood up.

"Hey! Wait!" She chased but suddenly he left the house.

"Kathleen, excuse me for the behavior of my son, he's really that rude when he's having a problem. He seems to have a hard time separating it from his work and—" Gabrielle suddenly returned.

"Mom," he stopped and stared seriously at the old woman. His mother laughed cheerfully.

"Oh, sorry. I'm so talkative. Well, Kathleen, you should eat. I'll leave you two for now. I'll just call your father Gabrielle."

"Alright," Gabrielle replied.

The old woman left and the two of them were silent. Her eyes were wide open and she stared at the man almost without blinking. She couldn't quite figure out why the man had brought her to this place. They have many rest houses that they can go to and live in temporarily, but her expectations were broken. This is beyond her imagination! Her ears and nose almost burned because of holding back her anger.
