Chapter 2
WHEN she woke up, her whole body was almost numb. Maybe because of her position on the whole trip. She yawned and stretched her arms. All she felt was body pain. When she suddenly realized that she's been dragged to be with this jerk. She quickly got out of the car. She's in the middle of nowhere for Pete's sake!"That stupid jerk! Where did that guy take me!" she said, annoyed to herself. She looked at her surroundings. He was in a secluded place. She also sees a banana farm in the distance while in her other direction is the vast farm. Now where the hell is she at this moment!? The man was not with her and she did not know where he had gone. She opened the backseat door and took her bag. She reached for his cell phone but was very disappointed because her cell phone was not there. It must be taken by him!"Ugh! This is not happening to me!" she shouted in his absence.Because of her frustrations, she took her cigarette holder and cigarette extender. She lit it with the lighter attached to her cigarette holder."This is not happening to me! Fuck!" she whispered softly to herself while smoking the cigarette she was holding. She leaned against the car and observed her surroundings. Yes, the place was quite nice and relaxing. She closed her eyes. Even with cigarette smoke, she can still smell the fresh air. She must be somewhere far from home. That's what immediately came to her mind. She knew something was odd too. Suddenly, someone grabbed the cigarette she was holding. He removed the stick from its connection to her cigarette extender."Smoking is prohibited my lady," he said and stepped on the cigarette she was smoking."What do you think you're doing?" she asked the man with amusement on her face."It's simple, I'm with you so I'm in charge.""Why? Did you also ask me if I wanted to be with you? For your information if you're having amnesia. I was dragged here by you and now you keep on telling me what to do and what should not? You jerk!" she shouted."You are loud," he said and narrowed his eyes on her. She glared back at him. He just smirked. He took her bag from inside the car and pulled her. She was dragged again by force until they stopped in front of the wooden house. Yes! A wooden—vintage house to be exact."Where did you take me!?" she asked again and removed his hand that was holding her left arm."In my home," he replied sparingly. Her lips parted. No freaking way! An old woman came out and met them both."Gabrielle? Son, I think you came home early and—" she stopped when she saw her. Gabrielle approached the old woman."Mom, it's an emergency that's why I came home early. It's Kathleen, my boss's daughter. She's here for the time being while my boss fixes something important." The old woman looked at her. She smiled rawly at Gabrielle's mother. The old man also gave her a sweet smile. His mother approached her then."Come on ija, come in. I'm sorry about our house, I know it's not what you're used to but I'm sure you'll feel comfortable here." Her eyes widened as she looked at Gabrielle. He did nothing and just stared at her."Okay," she weakly answered at Gabrielle's Mother. Now she feels like she lost her tongue. She also doesn't want to be rude to the old woman."Gabrielle, come and I will prepare breakfast for you," said the old woman. Gabrielle suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist and made her sit on the rattan chair."Behave," he said sternly. She swallowed. Oh crap! She felt as if her tongue had completely disappeared because she couldn't even speak immediately."Mom, I bought something for breakfast in the village, don't bother cooking," said Gabrielle."Oh that's great, give it to me and I'll serve it." Gabrielle immediately moved to give her the plastic bags he was carrying. Gabrielle then sat down in another chair facing her."Could you please tell me what was going on?" she asked Gabrielle softly."When your father calls, then you'll know."She stomps weakly on the floor. It's a good thing the floor is made of cement because if it happened to be made of wood it would really make a lot of noise."Don't you have a mind of your own? You could just tell me what's going on, right? Why do I have to wait for Papa to call!" Her voice almost rose but she still controlled herself and acted calm even though the truth was that she was about to explode. What she didn't want more than anything was giving her an alibi. She doesn't want suspense. She heard him sigh."Eat first," he ordered and suddenly stood up."Hey! Wait!" She chased but suddenly he left the house."Kathleen, excuse me for the behavior of my son, he's really that rude when he's having a problem. He seems to have a hard time separating it from his work and—" Gabrielle suddenly returned."Mom," he stopped and stared seriously at the old woman. His mother laughed cheerfully."Oh, sorry. I'm so talkative. Well, Kathleen, you should eat. I'll leave you two for now. I'll just call your father Gabrielle.""Alright," Gabrielle replied. The old woman left and the two of them were silent. Her eyes were wide open and she stared at the man almost without blinking. She couldn't quite figure out why the man had brought her to this place. They have many rest houses that they can go to and live in temporarily, but her expectations were broken. This is beyond her imagination! Her ears and nose almost burned because of holding back her anger.Chapter 21A FEW minutes later, Janette finally arrived. Kathleen was sitting in the living room, waiting for her, and Janette quickly handed her the outfit she brought. It was a red dress.“Whoa, this is way too sexy,” Kathleen commented when she realized it was backless and had revealing cuts on both sides.Janette scratched her head awkwardly.“Sorry. They ran out of uniforms, so I had to find something else. Hehe...”Kathleen chuckled at how cute Janette looked.“It’s fine. I wear stuff like this when I go to bars. My only problem now is whether Gabrielle will let me wear it.”“Oh my gosh! I’m doomed! Ugh!” Janette whined, her shoulders slumping.“Just tell him you didn’t know. Say it’s mine and there were no uniforms left to wear. Sounds good?” Kathleen smiled reassuringly.Janette’s face lit up and she threw her arms around Kathleen.“Oh my gee! Thank you so much, sister Kathleen! You’re the best!” she squealed happily.“Alright, enough with the hugs. Let me go change before we’
Chapter 20AFTER eating, she took another dip in the river with Janette. Not long after, Gabrielle followed them and started swimming as well. And she had no idea what on earth was happening to her. She suddenly found herself staring at Gabrielle’s body. It felt like she was gawking at him. Janette suddenly snapped her out of it."You’re zoning out!" Janette said, laughing. Kathleen quickly covered Janette’s mouth."Ssh! What are you talking about?" She feigned ignorance, even though she was obviously caught in the act.Janette pulled her hand away."I saw you! You were staring at big brother Gabrielle’s body!" Janette teased, emphasizing Gabrielle’s name. Kathleen covered her mouth again."Ssh! I was not staring at him!" she denied firmly.Janette just laughed louder."Oh, that’s not what I saw. But don’t worry, I won’t tell big brother Gabrielle. Unless… he caught you himself!" Janette teased, bursting into laughter again.Kathleen squinted her eyes in annoyance. She just rolled her
Chapter 19EARLY THE NEXT MORNING, Kathleen was startled awake by Janette’s shrill voice. The younger girl was lightly knocking on the bedroom door."Ate Kathleen! Wake up already!"Kathleen groaned and sat up abruptly. Gabrielle was no longer beside her, as expected—he always woke up earlier than she did. She sighed, hearing Janette's voice again."Sister Kathleen! Are you still asleep? Get up! We're having breakfast by the river, according to mother Susana!" Janette called again from outside her room."Alright! I'm up, I'm up!" she replied, having no choice but to get out of bed.She walked to the door and opened it, revealing Janette’s beaming face."Oh? Morning," she greeted."Good morning! Don't forget to bring an extra set of clothes. You might want to take a bath in the river. I'll wait for you outside, okay? Hurry up!" Janette said excitedly.Kathleen couldn’t help but smile at her enthusiasm."Alright, I'll be right there. Just let me fix my bed first.""Okay! But be quick, o
Chapter 18"Have you ever eaten this before, Kathleen?" Janette suddenly asked."No! And not a chance," Kathleen replied, shaking her head."You're so picky," she heard Gabrielle mutter. She just frowned at him and moved a little farther away. Janette might start screaming again and accidentally throw another frog at her. After they finished cleaning the frogs, Gabrielle set them aside. He washed his hands, stood up, and left them, heading straight to the kitchen."Are we really going to eat that, Janette? Are you serious? Is there nothing else?""I don't know. But big brother Gabrielle said that’s what we're having," Janette answered.Kathleen's eyes widened, and she quickly went to find Gabrielle. The back door was locked, so she went around to the front door and rushed inside. When she got to the kitchen, she found Gabrielle busy cooking."Aren't you going to buy me something else to eat? You know I’ve never eaten that. Ever!" She emphasized the last word."Nope. I won’t buy you an
Chapter 17Kathleen really enjoyed the street foods she ate. Aside from balut, Janette also bought other snacks being sold along the roadside. Good thing, she liked all the street food that Janette recommended to her.She had already drunk two bottles of beer, but she wasn’t tipsy yet."Let's go home. I'm tired," said Gabrielle.Janette immediately frowned, but she didn’t protest."Sure," she simply agreed, knowing that if she complained, she might get scolded. They went home, and on the way, Janette fell asleep in the back seat."She's totally drunk," Kathleen commented with a wide grin."You seem like you're having fun," Gabrielle replied."I am having fun. At least, for a while, I can forget my problems, right? Especially the way you keep bossing me around and controlling my life?" she said, rolling her eyes.Gabrielle scoffed at her words."I'm not controlling your life. My job is just to keep you safe.""Yeah! What a great excuse! Of course!""Are you drunk?" he asked, furrowing
Chapter 16"SISTER KATHLEEN, it's time to eat!" Janette called out to her. That snapped her back to reality. She quickly left the room and acted normal as she headed to the kitchen. She bit her lower lip when she saw that she was about to sit next to Gabrielle. Darn, Kathleen! Why are you suddenly feeling awkward now? What's wrong with you? Her mind screamed. She closed her eyes tightly and inhaled deeply. Maybe she was just overthinking.Gabrielle noticed her still standing, so he moved slightly to make space for her. She then silently sat beside him without even glancing in his direction.Aling Susana served her food, and soon, everyone started eating. She started eating too, but she felt like she was losing her appetite. Unconsciously, she let out a sigh."What's wrong?" Gabrielle suddenly asked. She lifted her head and quickly shook her head. That’s when she realized that they were the only ones left at the dining table. She despaired. She had been too lost in thought to notice he
