LOGINAmara Cross POV
"Mr. Dorian… I think I should leave now. I’ve troubled you enough."
He turned to me, his brows pulling together in clear surprise, and said, "You want to go to the university alone, when I can take you with me?"
I smiled awkwardly, heat rushing to my cheeks. I rubbed behind my ear in embarrassment. "Yes. I think that’s the only way I won’t bother you again."
I hugged my bag tight to my chest like a shield, as if it could protect me from his pull. He stepped closer, slow and deliberate. Every step forced me to retreat.
In his rough, steady voice, he said, "Who told you that you bother me or tire me out? If you did, I wouldn’t have brought you here in the first place."
He leaned slightly toward me as he spoke. The strong scent of his cologne mixed with the air, making me feel small. Very small. I cleared my throat, trying to swallow the nerves drying it out.
"I… I told myself that. It felt obvious to me."
I clutched the bag tighter. He slipped his hands into his pockets and studied me calmly. "Do you even know the way?"
The question was logical. It hit my pride hard. Even though I had no idea, I answered with fake confidence. "Yes. I know the way very well."
I walked out of the villa with steady steps, my shoes scraping the stone path. But the moment I reached the street, my courage vanished. Two roads stretched ahead. No signs. Nothing.
I raised my hand, closed my eyes, and sang softly while pointing my finger. "A crocodile drinks from a jar, dances on the old roof, laughs and says so sweet, the chosen one is… Shafiq."
When my finger stopped, I pointed left and said firmly, "Left it is."
I walked with confidence, but the silence around me began to scare me. No taxis. No buses. The street felt empty, like a ghost town. Then I heard an engine behind me.
I turned, curious. My eyes widened when I saw Mr. Dorian’s luxury car moving beside me.
The roof slid open smoothly. His voice reached me. "You’re on the wrong road, girl."
I glanced at him, then looked away, pretending not to care. "Even so, don’t worry. I can handle myself."
He sighed, loud and clear. The car slowed, then stopped.
"Amara Cross, come here and get in."
The command made my pulse race.
I stepped closer and objected with fake sweetness. "Mr. Dorian, thank you for your help, but I can go on my own."
He smiled, sharp and playful. "Amara, you know what? Come closer. I want to tell you something."
I raised a brow and approached carefully. The moment I was close enough, he caught my wrist lightly and whispered, "You’re very stubborn. And I hate stubbornness."
Without warning, he grabbed my waist and pulled me hard. I was dragged into the car through the open roof. I landed right on top of him. In his arms. The car shot forward at full speed. I screamed and hit his broad chest with my small fists.
"Oh my God. Mr. Dorian, put me down. Now."
I tried to pull back and sit in the other seat, but his arms were like iron around my waist.
"Stop, Amara. You’re causing two problems right now. First, you’re distracting me while I drive. Second… you won’t like the second one."
I pressed my lips together, defeated. "Fine. Just slow down so I can sit properly. Am I supposed to stay in your lap like this?"
He scoffed, amused, eyes still on the road. "Didn’t you enjoy it? Who was staring at whose body earlier?"
Heat burned my cheeks. It wasn’t staring. I was just… impressed by his muscles.
When he slowed down, I shifted awkwardly and planted my feet on the seat until I finally settled beside him. I stayed silent the rest of the way, shame screaming inside me. Without him, I’d be lost in the middle of nowhere.
The university building appeared in the distance. I tapped his arm lightly. "Mr. Dorian, can I get out here? It wouldn’t look right if people see me with my boss."
I paused, then added softly, "They might misunderstand. Ruin your reputation. Please."
I met his eyes, wide and pleading, like a puppy asking for mercy. In a moment of impulse, I leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. Just one second. Warm skin. Then I pulled away and jumped out of the car.
"Thank you, Mr. Dorian. Goodbye."
I waved with a bright smile as he drove off, his expression unreadable. But my chest was full of a strange warmth.
When I entered the lecture hall, I found Layla, the dark skinned girl I’d met before, asleep in the front row. I reached out and gently stroked her hair. She turned suddenly. I gasped and slapped her shoulder lightly.
"You scared me."
Layla laughed and rested her head on her hand. "Where were you, girl? I sent you so many messages to the number you gave me yesterday."
I rushed to find my phone. When I saw it on the desk, my heart dropped. Missed calls. Messages. So many. Then I saw the name Asla.
"Where are you? You’re late. It’s midnight." "Amaraaaa. Answer." "Oh God. Are you hurt?"
Cold sweat filled my palms. "Oh God. I’m in trouble," I whispered.
Layla noticed my tension and winked. "Wow. So many calls. Is he your lover?"
I ignored her teasing and texted Asla quickly. "Don’t worry. I’ll be back and explain everything. I’m fine."
"Amara, you’re not yourself today. You look like someone poured a bucket of ice water on you," Layla said suspiciously.
I nodded fast, trying to reassure her. "Don’t worry. Just my cousin. I left without breakfast. Now she’s scolding me."
Layla pinched my cheek lightly. "Those calls are too much. She really worries about you." Then she kissed my cheek.
In that moment, the memory of the morning kiss I gave Mr. Dorian burned inside me.
Did I rush it?
What if he misunderstood?
What if he felt disgusted by my boldness?
Does he hate me now?
Dark thoughts crowded my mind. My chest tightened. I wished I could turn back time and undo what I’d done.
When I moved to a new city that didn’t know me, and I didn’t know it, my eyes fell on a dangerous man.
And he took control of me.
Amara Cross "You painted my eyes?"Dorian stepped closer, his movements closing the space between us until he was uncomfortably near."Yes."That single word rendered me speechless. My mind scrambled for a response, but my tongue refused to cooperate.I glanced back at the painting, and this time something made me frown."The lashes… they look wet?"I asked, curious. He answered in a low voice, as if the scene were playing before him again:"They were like that the first time I saw you… like a flame in a storm, while the world was gray under relentless rain, everything dull and lifeless. After the rain, your eyes shone with a radiant glow that drew me in… I was captivated."He paused, seemingly studying me:"Your eyes trapped me in their fire, and I could do nothing but drown in their magic… from the very first moment."Heat spread across my face. Why did he do this to me?I tried to ignore his flattery, not daring to look at him directly."Did you bring me here… just to show me the
Amara Cross He opened the car door slowly, provocatively, then pushed me onto the seat in one sharp motion, making my body jerk backward.I reached for the handle quickly, but the door slammed shut in my face with a harsh smack. I tried opening it, yanking the handle over and over, but it was already locked.I slowly lifted my eyes to him, shooting a look full of protest and anger. He got into his seat with calm confidence, a cold, victorious smile playing on his lips."I’m not someone who obeys orders either."I clenched my fist, itching to strike his handsome face, but I released a long exhale instead, as if emptying all my curses into the air."This isn’t fair. This is ridiculous."I muttered, arms crossed tightly. He didn’t respond. He pressed the gas pedal, and the car shot toward the university road.Minutes passed, and I noticed an odd turn through the windshield. I raised my right eyebrow in surprise:"This isn’t the way to the university."He murmured softly, hand relaxed on
Amara Cross POVI stepped inside, my heart racing with tension. My attention was drawn to the same photographer standing in the distance, capturing a young woman with a man dressed in matching clothes.I turned toward Soli, who was coming out of the makeup room, talking on her phone. The moment her eyes met mine, her face tightened, and her expression clouded with anxiety.I smiled lightly and waved:"Hi, Soli."I saw her say something to the person on the other end, then she hung up and tucked her phone into her pocket. She hurried toward me with quick steps:"What are you doing here?"Her tone was sharp, her lips pressed tightly together, firing at me without hesitation."Umm… actually, I came to talk about the photos that were posted."Her face paled with anger:"What photos?"I narrowed my eyes in shock and answered seriously:"Are you joking? My photos—the ones you suggested I take when I came with Asla."Her gaze was strange, full of obvious annoyance, as if my presence here was
Amara Cross POV"Do you think I’ll obey you? You really make me laugh."I turned to give him my back, but suddenly his arms wrapped around my waist, and I felt his strong grip lift me off the seat. I gasped and kicked at the air, trying to break free."You! Put me down, or else…"I didn’t finish. He turned to the other side, opening the door, and sat in his seat while still holding me in his lap, then sped off.I exhaled in anger, furious at being forced into things I didn’t want. My eyes caught his hand gripping the wheel, and without thinking, I bit it hard, feeling his muscles tense instantly."Damn it…"He growled low, but I bit harder, wanting my mark to be clear on his skin.I pulled back when I felt his jaw tighten, and he finally released me from his lap, setting me in the passenger seat with a scowl, his bitten hand still clutching the wheel firmly.I glared at him, a mix of annoyance and mischief:"How do you like that watch now stamped on your hand? Better than a Ben Ten wa
Amara Cross POVShock painted every line of my face. I tried to push him away, but he stayed rooted, unyielding, blocking every attempt to escape. I bit his hand in a desperate attempt to make him let go. The taste of his skin hit my tongue—a mix of salt and iron—but he didn’t respond. When he noticed my thighs pressing tightly together, my face twisted in a clear frown, he finally released my mouth. As soon as he did, I gasped sharply, my voice breaking as I panted:"The bathroom!"He blinked in surprise at my shout, yet his grip on my wrists remained, pressing until I could feel my pulse hammering under my skin."I know you’re trying to run."He muttered steadily. I exhaled angrily, my body trembling with tension, my blood heating my cheeks."Damn it… if you don’t move, I’ll pee on you! Let go of my wrists!"I shouted in frustration and anger, squeezing my thighs tighter and clamping my lips in impatience. But as soon as he saw the seriousness in my eyes, he let go of my wrists with
Amara Cross POVBehind the camera, Asla was watching me with excitement, clapping and letting out soft whistles."Wow, your looks are irresistible, Amara!"She shouted enthusiastically, waving her hands in the air.A burning heat crept onto my cheeks. I lowered my eyes for a moment and replied shyly, pressing my lips together,"Stop it, don’t ruin the shoot…"After a few minutes that felt like moments, the session ended, and I heard soft clapping from the crew echo in my ears."You were amazing, Amara!"Asla whispered, coming closer to me.I swallowed, took a deep breath, feeling my chest expand slowly, as if I had achieved something beyond my own abilities.I saw Solly move straight to the photographer, checking the pictures on the camera with a serious focus.I couldn’t hear what they were saying from where we stood, but their eyes were sharp, and their fingers moved quickly over the buttons."Amara, we’ll give you the photos in a few minutes. Wait here."She called from a distance.
Amara Cross POVI slowly lowered my eyes to my lap. I felt my cheeks burning with a soft heat that started to spread to the tips of my ears.I whispered shyly, trying to hide behind my hair. "Yes... but not this much. A whole box? Besides... I have gained some weight lately."I said those words whi
