Chapter 9: Wasting Words

In the future, if Leo Orlando wakes up and kicks her out, this item could serve as medical expenses for her brother. She took another deep breath. Since Darren Noah was transferred to another hospital by Steward Lucius last year, she hadn't seen him again. She wondered how he was doing.

"I don't know if your mother keeps her word. The marriage has taken place, but she hasn't mentioned sending my brother for treatment..." Lilith Douglas turned to glance at the man on the bed. "...Your Orlando family wouldn't break a promise, would you?"

"I think your mother doesn't seem like someone who breaks promises. She's quite generous too; this bracelet worth a million, she just gave it to me without hesitation."

"To be honest, I feel unworthy of this bracelet, but for the sake of future plans and not hurting your mother's feelings, I had no choice but to accept it."

"Never mind, talking to you is pointless since you can't hear me. I won't waste my breath."

Lilith Douglas, holding her pajamas, went to the bathroom. The man on the large bed remained as silent as ever. While she was bathing, her phone kept vibrating on the side table. By the time she finished her bath, there were already over a dozen missed calls. Apart from a few unknown numbers, all the calls were from Trista Felix, who seemed to have an urgent matter.

Lilith Douglas quickly called back, "What's wrong, Ningning?"

"Qianqian, come to the hospital quickly. My brother, he... he's about to die, please come quickly..." Trista Felix was in tears, completely distraught.

"What happened to your brother? Which hospital are you at? Don't panic, tell me slowly."

"He's at Central Hospital. My brother's head is injured, and his leg is broken. It seems like everything is going wrong. Please hurry, Qianqian..."

Lilith Douglas hung up the call, grabbed her coat, and rushed out. Harvey, who was just bringing a bowl of silver ear lotus seed porridge upstairs, almost bumped into her.

"Young Madam, where are you rushing off to in such a hurry?"

Lilith Douglas sidestepped, avoiding Harvey, and said as she ran, "A friend is in trouble, I need to go see them right away."

"Be careful, Young Madam."

Harvey shook his head, thinking, "Well, this silver ear lotus seed porridge was made for nothing."

At Central Hospital, Trista Felix was sitting outside the emergency room, her whole body trembling with sobs. When she saw Lilith Douglas, she threw herself into her arms, "Qianqian, do you think my brother will die?"

"How could that be? Don't worry, what exactly happened?"

Trista Felix, choking back sobs, sniffled, "I don't know. I got a call from the hospital and came here. I heard the doctors say that my brother's car crashed into a roadside barrier and flipped over."

"It's okay, it's okay, everything will be fine." Lilith Douglas gently patted Trista Felix's back and looked up at the light above the emergency room door.

Soon, the emergency room door opened, and a nurse pushed out a young man. His head was bandaged, his arm was in a sling, and his leg was in a cast. He seemed to have multiple injuries, but they didn't appear to be too severe.

The man's gaze first fell on Lilith Douglas, and he managed a weak smile, "You came?"

Trista Felix, both angry and heartbroken, took the wheelchair from the nurse, "You only have eyes for Qianqian."

"The family should go pay the fees now," the nurse handed the bill to Trista Felix.

Trista Felix then passed the wheelchair to Lilith Douglas.

Lilith Douglas wheeled Abel Felix towards the ward, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward.
