KILLIAN’S POV

The monitors that hung on the wall were alive, displaying the cells, specifically the one that held Hazel’s parents. Hazel’s eyes were fixed intently on the screen and I watched, as her pupils flickered through each monitor.

My eyes were fixed on her and I couldn’t take them off. Anxiety was coursing through my chest, as silence hung in the air. The silence came with a palpable tension, which was driving me to the edge.

I was beginning to think that showing her how I had put our family behind bars would ruin the new friendship we had built up. The thought of that made my heart drop to the pit of my chest.

My mind was swarmed with questions. What did she think? Was she happy, or was she sad? Will she be angry at me for keeping her parents in a cell?

The more these questions swam around in my head, the more my guest tightened. My eyes flickered to her face and she has a stoic expression plastered on it. My anxiety it shot up the roof, at the fact that I could not tell what
