Two days later.

The room felt suddenly too hot and too stuffy for Richie to breathe comfortably.

In anger, he loosened his tie, took a few cufflinks off and threw them into his pants pockets as he stared at the doorway which wasn’t opening like it was supposed to.

It was way past 11:00pm, way past the time Elaine was supposed to walk in like the Angel she was, but she was nowhere to be found.

At first, he had tried reassuring himself by saying that she was probably held down by her ever classy makeup artist, and with the fact that she had always wanted to look exceptionally good for her wedding but now it was beginning to feel different.

Richie felt weird and bothered. He couldn’t stand the wait anymore.

A tiny voice in his head whispered to him that this was her way of escaping, her way of running away after everything they had been through but he couldn’t bring himself to believe that.
