Selene

"These ones are cute," Ama said, holding up a pair of pink socks with tiny wolf prints.

I chuckled softly, folding another baby blanket beside her on the bed. "She's going to outgrow these so fast."

"I know," she laughed. "But they're adorable."

Our eyes drifted over the shopping bags piled on the armchair—more clothes than Liora could wear in a month, soft toys, feeding bottles, wipes, baby lotion, and even matching mother-daughter pajamas. Tristan had gone overboard.

Then there were the two brand-new phones in their unopened boxes on the dresser. His idea.

"I told him not to," I muttered, nodding at the phones.

Ama smirked. "Yeah. And he still did it."

"He doesn't listen."

"He listens," she said. "He just... does things his way."

I didn't respond to that. Because she wasn't wrong. I confirmed that when he defy his father’s words.

Tristan didn't wait for approval—he just moved, acted, decided. He'd walked into the store, told us to pick what we wanted, and by the time I found

SeleneThe door loomed before us like something out of a nightmare. It was massive, carved from black wood with strange markings etched deep into its surface. My stomach churned as I stared at it, the heaviness in the air pressing down on me. Tristan stood beside me, his hand locked tightly with mine. He had been unrelenting when Aurora insisted I go alone. Aurora clearly hadn’t liked that. The way her sharp eyes flicked over him, filled with silent reproach, made the hairs on the back of my neck rise. It was as if he had broken some sacred rule, and she made sure he knew it with every cutting glance.Yet Tristan didn’t flinch. He didn’t back down. His grip on me only tightened, as though daring anyone to try to separate us.With a soft exhale that sounded more like frustration than acceptance, Aurora finally stepped forward. She pressed her palms against the heavy door, and with a slow creak that seemed to echo through the hall, it swung open. Shadows spilled out from the room insi

SeleneI almost felt like giving up. Every time we asked, people scattered like we carried some sort of plague. Mothers pulled their children closer, merchants suddenly found something urgent to pack away, and the elderly hobbled off faster than I thought possible. No one wanted to so much as hear the word sorcerer.Frustration and a heavy weight of disappointment pressed down on me. My chest tightened as I watched another man walk away before Tristan could even finish speaking. I swallowed hard, the sting of hopelessness settling in."Maybe..." my voice wavered as I turned to Tristan, "maybe we should just go back." The sadness in my own tone startled me, but it was how I truly felt. "No one wants to help us. What if it's a dead end?"Tristan's eyes cut to me. "We aren't giving up when we haven't even started," he said firmly. "If they can't tell us, then we'll locate it ourselves."I wanted to argue, to tell him I was too tired of chasing shadows, but before I could, a soft voice sl

Tristan We met up with Zayn outside the pack territory and took off. He had two of his guards with him in his car, following behind us as we started the long journey. An hour passed before we decided to stop. We stopped at a small village along the way and found a guest inn. The place was old but clean enough, with lanterns lit outside.Ama and Selene headed to their room to settle in while I stayed back in the lounge with Zayn. His guards took seats by the door, keeping a casual watch."You think we'll reach before noon tomorrow?" Zayn asked, leaning back in his chair."If we leave early enough," I said. "Depends on the road conditions."He gave a short laugh. "Always so damn practical. I expected you to say something about running through the night."I sipped from the glass in front of me. "Not with them here.""So. What's the update with your council? I heard rumors they're stirring trouble again."I exhaled sharply. "They want to push for tighter border patrols and more direct c

SeleneI pushed the heavy wooden door open and stepped into the dimly lit private bar. My eyes scanned the room, searching through the clusters of people until they landed on Zayn.He was lounging in the far corner, one arm draped lazily over the back of the seat. The second he saw me, he lifted his hand in an easy wave.I made my way over, weaving past a few tables, my boots barely making a sound on the polished floor.“Hey, sister,” he greeted as I reached him, his voice carrying that casual warmth that had always made me feel a little safer.I slid into the seat across from him, leaning back slightly. “Hey.”“Sorry for dragging you out at this hour,” I said, resting my arms on the table. “I know you must have work to do.”Zayn waved it of, “Come on, you’re my sister. I have to make time for you.”“How’s Liora?”A small smile pulled at my lips. “She’s fine. Ama’s taking care of her.”He nodded, clearly relieved, and started to raise his hand to signal a waiter. “What would you like

Selene"So... what have you and Tristan decided to do now? Meet the sorcerer, or what?" Ama asked shifting on the bed. I looked up at her, "We don't really have a choice, Ama," I murmured. "If that wolf... whoever he is... has already laid claim on me, then I can't just sit here and wait for it to play out. Tristan won't either.""You know going to her is dangerous. People don't call her a banished sorcerer for nothing.""I know. But it's either her... or I lose everything.""I don't know why everything keeps going wrong for me. Why can't I just have a normal, peaceful life like the others, Ama?"Ama reached over, her warm hand covering mine. "Selene... everything will fall into place. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it will. You just have to hold on a little longer."I nodded faintly, not trusting my voice to respond. Both our heads snapped up as the door to the room was suddenly kicked open. Kayla strode inside. Kayla's heels clicked against the floor as she walked in, he

Tristan Selene lay beside me, her brows slightly curved as if she was still frowning at something even in sleep. I brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face, my lips tugging into a smile. Last night, she swore she'd stay wide awake while I told her about my childhood—every memory, every story. I hadn't even gotten halfway before she was snoring softly, her head heavy on my chest.Leaning over, I pressed a light kiss to her forehead. The room was still cloaked in that early hour darkness, the kind where the world hasn't decided to wake yet. I slid out of bed, pulling on the shirt I'd discarded last night, and made my way over to Liora's cradle. She was sleeping soundly, tiny breaths lifting her chest in the gentlest rhythm. For a moment, I just stood there, looking between the two of them—Selene and Liora—and thinking how close this looked to the perfect family I'd always wanted. But then Selene's voice sliced through the quiet. "No, Liora! Don't hurt my daughter!"My head sna
