We met up with Zayn outside the pack territory and took off. He had two of his guards with him in his car, following behind us as we started the long journey. An hour passed before we decided to stop.

We stopped at a small village along the way and found a guest inn. The place was old but clean enough, with lanterns lit outside.

Ama and Selene headed to their room to settle in while I stayed back in the lounge with Zayn. His guards took seats by the door, keeping a casual watch.

"You think we'll reach before noon tomorrow?" Zayn asked, leaning back in his chair.

"If we leave early enough," I said. "Depends on the road conditions."

He gave a short laugh. "Always so damn practical. I expected you to say something about running through the night."

I sipped from the glass in front of me. "Not with them here."
