WRITER'S POV

TWELVE YEARS AGO

The bar is filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses as Keith celebrates his successful business deal with his friends. They pat him on the back, praising his acumen and charm.

"Cheers to many more deals like this!" Keith shouted, raising his glass to his friends.

"Cheers!" they respond, lifting theirs as well before each of them take a drink out of their glasses at once.

The night wore on, and eventually, Keith bid his friends farewell and stepped out into the cool night air. He hailed a taxi and climbed in, his mind still buzzing with excitement from the evening.

"I can't wait to share this good news with you," he muttered to himself as he touched his wedding ring on his finger.

As the taxi pulled up to his home, Keith's heart seized at the sharp sound of a gunshot echoing through the quiet street.

Without a second thought, he threw some bills at the driver and rushed out, fear gripping his chest.
