Mated to Kai O’Brien

The howls in the moon-glow pack grew louder as it was Kai’s, the alpha’s son and the next heir of the moon-glow pack, birthday. Kai grew up to be feared among the pack, he was known to be a rogue alpha as whatever he wants, he forcefully get.

He’s strong, even stronger than his father and also a bully, his parents feared that he might soon meet his doom but Kai doesn’t care.

The moon-glow pack and the Aletha pack has had great relationships over the years and sometimes the packs pick their mates from the other pack as that made them grow stronger together. Aletha pack has helped its best friend, moon-glow, to grow in strength and territory by joining force with them and helping them win their battles.

Kai and his family are coming to pay a visit to the Aletha as that is what the packs do when it’s the heir’s birthday, Valerie and Kai shares the same birth date. Valerie has always hated Kai’s gut and it went both ways as he was jealous of how strong, intelligent and beautiful she was, he had once vowed to mark her and take her for himself but Valerie who wasn’t having it had humiliated him.

“Happy birthday.” Kai said huskily as he handed Valerie the present he’d gotten for her.

“Why are you here?” She rolled her eyes while reluctantly taking the gift from him.

“You’re forgetting we’re birth-mate and ever since I can remember, we’ve been having it together.” He answered.

She rolled her eyes as she unwrapped the presence he handed her, her eyes almost popped out of her skull as she opened the wrapped present to see a beautiful animal skin, it was the most beautiful she’d seen in a while.

“That’s the skin of a cheetah, Acinonyx Jubatus, the fastest of all feline breed and from what I’ve gathered the rarest as well.” Kai said, full of pride and satisfied that he had somehow managed to impress her.

“I know what it is,” Valerie shot, “I know how fast that breed of cats are and I also know that they are rare, quit acting like a know it all.” She rolled her eyes again, handing the cheetah’s skin to one of the servants available.

“That’s a gift to you, you own it now.” She said as the servant took it from her.

“What! How dare you?!” Kai roared in anger.

“I have better cheetah skins in my possession all of which I got myself, taking this one from you would furthermore feed your ego and that is the last thing I want to do, especially for a rogue.” She answered, batting her eyelid and satisfied that she has once again put this rogue alpha in his place. She turned to walk away.

“You know you should somehow find a way to curb your growing wings and have some respect.” He called behind her, making her stop abruptly in her track.

“Curb my growing wings,” she laughed as she slowly turned to look at Kai, “I don’t have an iota of respect for people who thinks the whole world revolves around them, you are the one that should curb your growing wings.” She shot back, her eyes turning red in anger. They couldn’t stand each other and a fight was already about to break out.

“It’s my birthday and I won’t let you ruin it for me.” She added breathlessly.

“It’s also the day you get marked by me and mated to me and therefore, you’ll become mine.” He said with a sense of pride.

“What?” Valerie snarled, oblivious to the decision her mother had made in her absence.

“I would rather die than be mated to a self serving, selfish, rogue wolf.” She spat at his face and not saying another words, she turned to leave.

Stomping without warning into her mother’s chamber she said, “what is this Kai is saying?”

“You need a mate, Valerie,” Clarissa said, “I’ve arranged for you to meet Kai and you must let him mark you, I’ve always wanted to pick a mate for you and knowing you, you need an equally strong partner, I have chosen Kai.” Clarissa said and Valerie could only look in utter disgust. She hated Kai with everything she had in her and being mated to him? That’s a nightmare, one she doesn’t want to come true.

“The Queens of Aletha has always been known for their solo ruling, why do I have to have a mate?” She asked, confused.

“How do you think I had you?” Clarissa said and Valerie knew better than to further question her mother, she looked over at Adira, hoping she would help her but Adira only shook her head helplessly.

How could she be mated, all through her journey of life, she never imagined she would have a life partner of the opposite sex and although she was expecting it, the mate chosen for her was one she hate, how?!

Kai on the other hand wouldn’t stop until he has taken Valerie for himself.

“No.” She said and Clarissa and Adira’s gaze lifted to meet hers.

“No? No? No what?” Her mother asked impatiently and in anger, “you would be a Luna, a powerful one and would also rule alongside the most powerful Alpha, what do you mean No?” Clarissa yelled, already angry. She knew it wouldn’t be easy getting Valerie a mate but a wolf without a mate is almost as useless as dried leaves and getting her daughter a mate is just the right thing to do.

“I don’t want to be a Luna, I am a Suprema already, what benefits does being a Luna add to me?” She shot back, challenging her mother this time, “everyone including Kai...” Valerie starts saying, “knows how much I hate him, i can’t stand him and his egoistic self, I cannot spend the rest of my life with someone I harbor this much hatred for.” She finished and before her mother could speak again, Valerie stormed out.

Walking deeper into the woods she sought to take a run to cool off, she was pissed and there was no way to hide it. “You need a mate and we’ve chosen Kai for you.” She said, mocking her mother.

She will not give in to her parents demand and let a rogue alpha mark her, especially after what she’d done to humiliate and hurt his ego.

Letting the cool air fill her nostrils, Valerie took a deep breath in before turning into her wolf form, a black wolf with flaming red eyes, She turned as if she was looking for something before she finally dashed deep into the forest as fast as she could.

“I am going to let her pay heavily for what she’s done.” Kai said in anger as he paced around his chambers, the one Clarissa and her pack had welcomed him in.

“And how do you do that?” His friend asked, Kai shot him a stare and he immediately lowered his gaze, he knew his friend was angry at the moment and any little thing could set him off the edge.

“I’m going to mark her and make her mine.” He said and his friend looked like Kai had just said something stupid.

“Mark Valerie?” His friend asked, “She is the most powerful in the pack and for all we know she could be even more powerful than you are.” His friend pointed out and that made Kai even angrier, his jealousy playing out on his face.

“Yes, I will do just that. She’s going to be my mate, but after that and in the four corners of my chambers, she would be nothing but a slave, she would submit to me, I will make her do that.” He explained with a wicked laugh.

Leaving the room and joining the celebration, he looked over at Valerie whose smile immediately faded at the sight of him.

“You’re mine.” He muttered under his breath, followed by a wicked smirk.

The party was soon over and it was almost time for the usual ritual as Valerie was to be mated to Kai.

“Do something, Adira,” she begged, “I don’t want this, this is not my purpose.” She added.

“You don’t think I’ve tried talking to the suprema?” Adira said helplessly, “she has her own plans and knows what’s best for you better than any of us.” She added.

“This is not what is better for me.” Valerie answered as tears welled up in her eyes.

Controlling herself and cleaning the tears of her cheek immediately, she let out a smile, she has a plan.

“I told you you’d be mine.” Kai said, it was the both of them alone in the room.

“I would not be so sure about that.” Valerie shot as she immediately turned into her full wolf form and dashed towards Kai.
