After returning to the quiet sanctuary of our room, we end up spending the majority of the night blissfully discussing our excitement for the Ceremony until the early hours of the morn. Without a care in the world, we ignore the darkened sky that continues to lighten outside as it transforms into a soft blue hue as it readies itself to host the gracious sun that is soon to take its place. With our guests departing back to their rooms, the night's celebration soon comes to an unwanted end. I unwilling say goodnight to Elijah, reluctantly leaving my pining mate's side as I head back up to our bedroom, ready to fall asleep on my own as Dakota reminds us of the mortal customs we must abide despite my detest against the matter. Amidst the whirlwind of emotions surging within me, I try to ready myself for another sleepless night, anticipating the restlessness that has continued to plague me more often than not over the course of the last few days. With the Ceremony officially over, the guests return to the festive celebrations while Elijah and I enjoy the remainder of our night close beside each other's sides, joined at the hip as if we were attracted magnets. As the smouldering sky furthers its descent into darkness above us, the moon hangs in its centre like a natural disco ball while our jolly guests continue to dance into the early hours of the morn under the fairy-lit tent. Without wasting any time, we make our way downstairs to Elijah's office once I've quickly gotten changed. As expected, a heated discussion breaks out when Raven joins us as we divulge what we overheard last night. We take our time talking through what happened—carefully recalling the secretive conversation to my anxious mate as he listens silently to what transpired at the edge of the training field while an unsuspecting Aubrey remained oblivious to the prying sets of eyes that watched her from afar, hidden out of sight as we tucked ourselves behind the old wooden cabin.While I reel off the final moments of Aubrey's hushed rant, I notice a building scowl cast over Elijah's face as an unstoppable molten like rage rolls within him, consuming him in a choking hold as his clenched fists continue to pale at the knuckles. Without any thought of my own, my wolf drives my body to lunge forward while the anger rising within crashes over me, acting as if it were a ruthless tide dragging me out into a turbulent sea of fury. With Aubrey’s bitter warnings still hanging in the air, Elijah’s ever-growing impatience rises, making it challenging for him to stand back and wait for further news while the impending threat remains unfound. Finding it impossible to stand idly by, he asks for my blessing before rushing off in haste to join in on the apparent manhunt being conducted just outside the manor grounds – implemented in full swing as a sea of wolves tear through the woodland area with might.
