Daniel suddenly remembered the phone call he overheard 15 days ago. Evelyn had mentioned someone coming to pick her up. Was that so she could go to the private island?

If she was planning to go, why hadn't she told him? If she wanted a trip, shouldn't she take him and Noah along? Or had she only ever planned to leave alone?

The realization crashed into Daniel, and a sharp pain squeezed the air right out of his lungs.

That was impossible. Today was their wedding day. If Evelyn left on her own, what about the ceremony? What about him and Noah?

"What are you talking about? What private island? What do you mean Evelyn is leaving today? Today is our wedding. She would never walk away from that!"

The staff on the line jumped at his tone but forced himself to continue, "Mr. Hayes, Ms. Wynn signed the purchase contract with me in black and white. If you don't believe me, you're welcome to check our records. In any case, please let her know we're still waiting for her."

The call ended.
