Chapter 2

Author: Warmth
"She deserves it! It’s her fault nobody wants to team up with her."

"Everybody knows you’re screwed if you get left all alone in a horror game."

"I bet she’ll be the first to die tonight!"

"So be it."

The leader, who was heading the single trio group, got everyone’s attention with a cough, then announced, "There’s nothing here at the spawn point. My group is going to the IV infusion room next door. Everyone else, split up!"

Then, he glanced at me. "You. Come with us, but don’t get too close."

"The leader seems like a decent guy. At least, he didn't abandon her."

"Aaron Meyer is our guild's ace and has always been a great guy."

With that, I followed the three of them to the adjacent room.

As soon as I entered, a chilly breeze made me shiver.

Hm?

Who set the temperature so low? The patients were sick enough as it was; they were going to end up with pneumonia!

I was about to turn up the temperature when Aaron suddenly cried out, "Oh crap! The room is haunted! Get out!"

At the same time, I heard the voice of an elderly man ring out in my ears, "Be a good girl and keep me company. I’m so lonely…"

When I turned around, I saw an old man clothed in thin fabric rising shakily from an IV infusion chair. He came towards me but ended up tripping over a cable.

"What are you standing there for? Run!"

"But, the door... the door is locked... It won’t open…"

"Ram the door open! We’re dead if he latches onto us! Hey, hey, newbie, what are you doing? Are you insane? If you've got a death wish, don’t drag us down with you!"

I ignored their frantic cries and sprinted over to the old man. Mustering the same strength I used to hoist oxygen tanks weighing up to fifty kilograms, I shoved the old man back into the chair.

Within a few seconds, I managed to reinsert the IV needle that had been yanked loose from his arm when he got up.

The old man seemed flabbergasted. He froze for a moment before trying to get up again to remove the needle.

That was when my anger tipped over. I shoved him back into the chair and snapped, "It’s just an IV drip. Quit moving around! Do you think you’re in some kind of movie pulling a stunt like that? If you keep moving, you won't be able to use your hands, and don’t even think about blaming me for not warning you about this when your hand swells tomorrow! That’s enough. Sit tight and don’t even think about going anywhere until the infusion is done! If you need to use the toilet, just call me!"

Seriously, what was up with these patients pulling the needle out?

The hospital was unbelievable as well. They must have lost it to leave an elderly patient alone in the room for an IV infusion.

Rule number one of nursing: Always keep a close eye on patients receiving IV infusions to prevent accidents.

The old man blinked sporadically. "Sorry for causing trouble, miss…"

I smiled. "It's okay, sir. Just sit tight now, I’ll monitor the IV infusion and let you know once it’s done."

Then, I turned off the fan that had been blasting cold air the entire time before draping a blanket over the old man. I carefully set a heat pad under his arm and turned on the television before checking the flow rate of the infusion.

After attending to these tasks, I turned around to see the stunned trio looking at me.

I could do this with my eyes closed.

"Aren't you... scared?"

The comment section went wild.

"What’s going on? The ghost is supposed to ask the player if there is something wrong with him, and if you can’t answer, he strangles you with the IV infusion cable! Go on, ask the question!"

"Hey, nurse... what's wrong with me? Why haven’t I recovered?"

"There you go. He asked the question! I told you. There is no way it plays out differently."

I smiled. "It's just a minor fever; nothing to worry about. After the infusion is done, take some medicine and you’ll be fine. Make sure you stay warm, too. It’s easy to catch a cold when the seasons change."

"She has to be making it up. I don’t believe that."

  • Overworked Nurse in a Horror Game   Chapter 11

Before the ultimate collapse of the game, I saw patients of various genders and ages, all dressed in hospital gowns, filing out in an orderly line. They all left one after another before Camille finally appeared with a man whose face was covered in blood."That must be the final boss of the inpatient wing.""The boss who was missing in action the entire time.""Stop being so mean! Haven't you realized how much the doctor has sacrificed?""Camille must be trying to protect him. If he had woken up, all the memories from the past would have come rushing at him.""What dedication… Will they meet again in their next life?"I handed the bag containing the evidence to Camille. "Here… this is what you paid for with your life.""Thank you…""I didn't do much. You were the one who gave up everything for it."Clementine glanced at me before running over to hug me. "I hope I can be as brave as you are in my next life.""You will.""Let's go, everyone. I hope we can all find happiness in

"You can't kill us, but I don't think the same can be said about you in your regular human body.""I don't understand anything anymore. What a plot twist! It feels like the nurses are several levels ahead of me.""Why don't we start from the beginning?"My name is Clementine Spark. I majored in nursing in college and eventually completed my internship. After I graduated, I became a nurse in a hospital.A few years after I started working, I happened to be assigned to three consecutive days of night shift during Halloween.Due to the specific timing, I met my parallel self from another timeline—another Clementine Spark, who also worked as a nurse in the same hospital. She had been close to Camille's boyfriend, and they used to be classmates. That was the reason the doctor asked her to deliver the evidence. However, she was too afraid to do so.When they were exposed, the doctor was apprehended, and the rest of the events followed. She often regretted not agreeing to help the do

Clarice ran up to collect the evidence. "Alright, we can go now!"Within seconds, Aaron pressed a gun to her head. "Hand it over. That’s the only way this ends."Clarice was flabbergasted. "What is the meaning of this…""A betrayal? I’m glad I paid for this live broadcast!""Hold on, what’s going on? I was so sure Aaron was a decent guy. He wouldn’t betray his team at the very end like this!"I stated calmly, "That’s because he’s not the real Aaron. The real Aaron was already killed right at the start of the game. Am I right, Director?""How did you know?""Wait, what’s going on? I have a bit of information overload going on here. I don’t get it.""Aaron is the Director? Did he do all of this to secure the evidence for himself?""I knew it! The theory of illegal human experiments was true…"How did I know?First, there was noticeable swelling at the base of his right thumb. That was a telltale sign of someone who regularly performed surgery and had to handle bone clamps.Se

Before leaving, Camille shook my hand. "I know you are a good nurse. I wish you the best."With that, we left the ward and gently closed the door behind us before rushing to the outpatient wing. When we reached the previous old lady’s ward, we bumped into the five other players who were exploring the other side of the hospital. The two parties regarded each other cautiously."Aaron, Clarice, stay away from her. She's the final boss. We have to kill her if we ever want to leave this place.""What’s your proof?""Isn’t your outfit the best proof?""You are dressed just like the nurses in the hospital.""The actual 20th player was spawned in the medical director's office instead! We have all the evidence we need. We get to leave this place if we kill you!"They became very animated upon reaching this note."I’m sure you have seen how she has been talking with the ghosts. Have you seen how she wasn’t scared of them at all? It’s because they’re all on the same team!""She was the

"By the way, what happened to the others? Has anyone checked on them yet? Nothing exciting is going on. It’s getting boring.""A few more of them died on the other side. Only five of them are left.""How did they die?""They stumbled into the big boss's office, the medical director's. They were killed instantly after entering. Oh yeah, the boss is lurking in the wild now.""Wasn’t the boss supposed to be in the inpatient wing?""There's one in the inpatient wing, too, but that one hasn't killed anyone yet. Aren’t enemies in this kind of game supposed to get stronger the more players they kill?""Is it going to be a faction battle? This is going to be interesting. Looks like we’re going to get a show after all!""Place your bets, place your bets! Who do you think is going to win? The doctors or the patients?""I’m going to bet on the nurse. The condition of victory is discovering the truth after all, isn’t it?""I’m betting on the medical director. Even if they are close to fin

Clarice was starstruck. "Clem, you’re fearless! Is that a result of training as a nurse?"I chuckled. "Do enough ward inspections yourself and you'll get there. Elderly patients love going on about someone behind you, someone outside the window, or someone by their bedside. You'll get used to it. Come on, let’s check the next ward."We went inside the next few wards only to find they were all empty.I was thrown off by this.Even patients in horror games liked wandering around in the middle of the night! These were all pediatric wards. Well, it was normal for kids to hate staying in the ward, totally normal…Not!"Clem, look at these walls... They are covered in children's handprints!"I gasped when I looked at one of them.Sure, children loved scribbling and drawing. This was normal...Not!Just as I was getting upset, something round rolled to my feet."Come, little bunny! Be a good bunny and open the door! Hi there, let's play catch with the ball!"If you don't have a b
