Anita sighed, "Juan is getting married today," she said bluntly. Gemma slowly pulled her hands back, looking away. And then a tiny laugh escaped her mouth with words.
"No, he's not." It was the only thing she could say. When has he arranged everything Juan had told her weeks ago? How could he possibly get everything together?"I'm sorry, Gemma... I am," Anita said, having no idea why she was apologising, but Juan made her look like a fool. "He didn't call you?" She asked Juan was heartless, but she didn't ever think he would be this manipulative.Gemma took a deep breath, maybe trying to process everything happening. She had her eyes closed, and her hands covered her shameful face. "He didn't tell you he was getting married? Oh, he's such a scum!" Anita vomited."He did. He told me he was-" her voice quivered, letting go of her face."What? He told me he was. And Gemma," Anita stopped, stupefied by her actions, "Did he give you a date, at least?" She asked."No, he didn't. He told me a few days ago," she said and bit her nails nervously.Anita sighed in frustration, "He's a bastard," she mumbled."I'm sorry, I would have to cancel... Can we talk later?" She said, getting up speedily. She needed to know his reason for the rushed wedding, she guessed. He must have the wrong reasons why he didn't tell her."Where are you going?" Anita yelled as she caught her wrist.Gemma smiled at her and looked at her hand, "I only need to pee," she replied, taking her phone out of her bag. Anita looked at her hand."Are you okay?" She asked, looking at her. At this point, Gemma could be read like a book; her eyes were misty, and her lips licked countlessly, but her eyes never met the person in her front. She looked like a mess in the twinkle of seconds."Yeah, I am..." She cleared her throat. "I am sure he would call," she laughed, and"Or you're going to call," Anita looked down at her phone."That's enough. I am not a kid," She said, breaking the hold and quickly heading to the toilet. Anita watched her silently with pity. When she was gone, Anita looked around and screamed. "Gira," Anita called,"Yes?" She replied, walking closer to where Anita stood."Watch Gemma. Let me know if she's about to leave..." She said, without any more details.Anita looked at Isaac, who stood behind Gira. When she had received this news minutes ago, he was beside her."Don't you think you should stop her?" He asked.Anita sighed and dropped her phone on the table, squatting by the side."She's pretty stubborn," she replied and looked at him. Isaac looked confused and worried at the same time. "Don't worry-" she furrowed her brows, seeing Gemma rush out of the restroom, approaching her.And in a minute, she grabbed her bags and keys. Her face was covered in tears, and as much as she wiped them, it was still evident. But something was different. She had her phone on her ear, and her breath shook."Gemma!" Anita called, rushing after her, the door opened, and a fresh breeze blew against her face. She scanned the area, and when she found her car, she headed towards it."He can't, Juan, pleaseeeee!" They heard her scream from outside, and finally, Anita caught up with her; she pulled her arms back, breathing hard. "Where are you going?" Anita yelled at her. Her desperation was starting to irritate her now. Gemma's gaze shifted to Isaac behind Anita. She looked at her, and her chest moved up and down rapidly, unable to speak even when her mouth opened; breath just escaped. She busted out in tears, "I have to..." She tightened her lips, staring at Anita. Anita gently let go of her arms, and she hated to see her like this. It was embarrassing and heartbreaking; oh, she wished she could have a moment with Juan. Her rage wouldn't be explained.Anita nodded and tried to control her breath, but Gemma's cry upset her. "Gemma!" She suddenly yelled again, "What..." Isaac held her back. He shook his head, telling her not to scream. Anita sniffled, looking away, "You're pathetic" She took her hands off Isaac's. "Fine! Go ahead... ruin your life so some useless guy!' she said angrily with a calm voice.Gemma sat on her knees, wailing. The pain and betrayal she felt were unexplainable, and it wasn't something Anita could understand. Her heart felt heavy and darkened. As much as she tried to let it slide, it pinched her head badly, and the only way she would express this was by letting the tears out. Pain and sadness she had bottled up for the past four years. Gemma covered her face with her palms as she felt embarrassed and used. Juan did use her, but he loved her, she thought. Minutes later, Anita came back, pulling Isaac closer to her. "Can you? I am sorry to ask, but can you take care of her? At least, since the shoot is cancelled?" She whispered.Isaac looked at Gemma, and she was still crying. He didn't have anything to do the whole day. Well, he could try."Sure, I will," He replied with a broken smile."I really hate to do this to you, but if she needs to go drive her instead, maybe hearing from him would trigger her stubbornness," she whispered. Isaac managed a smile with a nod.Anita tapped him and headed back to the studio. After a minute, Isaac took out a white handkerchief handing it to her, and she continued wiping her face and crying, not ignoring him. Isaac bent down and pushed the cloth into her hand."Do you want to go now? I mean to see him so we can murder him," He asked. Gemma sniffled and raised her gaze to him, and her eyes were fluffy and red.She sniffled and got up, Isaac's eyes followed her, and Gemma looked at the handkerchief he had handed her. She wiped her eyes and slowly gave it to him."Thank you, I don't need you to follow me," she said, sniffling louder."I want to; you need me," he said. Gemma ignored him and headed for her car.Gemma's car was parked in front of the hotel where Juan's wedding was held. Someone had sent the invitation to the group. Isaac looked at her as he turned off the engine. She couldn't even look at the hotel as they arrived and hung her head low with mutterings, "Thank you for doing this" were the words that escaped her lips.Isaac leaned closer to hear what she had said, "I can't hear you," he said, a little close to her. Gemma gently raised her head and looked at him. She looked away when their eyes met, and he fanned her. "What are you smiling about?" she asked, staring out the window. Her face was covered in tears and sweat; it wasn't something she wanted him to see, but then, she couldn't bear him smiling. She had felt he was laughing at her stupidity, which bothered her.Isaac's genuine smile faded upon hearing her speak those words, and he wasn't the one getting heartbroken over some useless guy; besides, he was only smiling to cheer her up. Maybe he smiled too much, he assumed
It's been an hour now, and Isaac had no trace of her; he had searched the whole area hoping to find her but couldn't.He stood at the entrance while he awaited Anita's arrival, and soon after, he spotted her running towards him."Did you see her?" She asked, trying to catch her breath. Isaac took a good look at her and replied."No, I searched everywhere," He said with both hands on his waist.Anita stood straight, glancing around. "She must have found out," Anita mumbled to herself. "I shouldn't have let her go," she said, running her hand through her hair."It's not your fault. I shouldn't -" Anita interrupted."If she saw her, I mean Alice, she would know," Anita kept whining. She bit her nail, nervously glancing around. "Is that obvious?" Anita furrowed her brows, looking at Isaac. He must have seen her, anyone would recognise a bride if they see one, plus he had been inside before she arrived. Isaac nodded in response, and she closed her eyes briefly, shaking her head."Gosh, he'
Juan approached them with a glass of champagne, "It's Anita, right?" He asked with a wicked grin. His steps were slow and careful with the wicked smile he had on. He carefully glanced around, and Anita could tell he was trying not to cause a scene. After an eternity of his walk, he finally stood at their front. He looked at Isaac and back at Anita. He had no idea who Isaac was."Juan," Anita said, taking deep breaths, forcing herself not to explode. "Where is Gemma?" Isaac blurted out while blocking him from coming closer to Anita. Juan looked in Alice's direction and Anita. "Who's this?" He asked, chuckling."Don't make me," Isaac whispered, "You don't want to make a scene," he sneered, knowing very well that he wouldn't want his darling wife to find out anything about Gemma."She left a while ago," He replied, defeated by Isaac's threat. He looked at Anita, and she avoided eye contact. Isaac lowered his gaze, and seeing their reaction, he could tell something was wrong. And it w
They both stepped out of the hotel and stopped. Anita looked at Isaac, and out of shame, he avoided her gaze."I will get the car," he said."Alright, do," she replied and took out her phone, comfortable with the situation. Was Juan right? Did he like Gemma, was that why he was doing this? These thoughts ran through her head. The horn blew, and she raised her head, lowering her hand. Isaac parked in front of her.Anita got into the car, and he watched her bulk her belt. She looked at him, and he threw his face in front, facing the road. Isaac started the engine immediately, driving off. The ride to Gemma's house was quiet. They both tried as much as possible not to bring up what happened a while ago.Anita glanced at him when she remembered she hadn't told him the address and wondered how he knew the way to Gemma's house without her directing him."How do you know the way through?" Anita asked in a low tone avoiding eye contact.Isaac focused on the road and cleared his throat despite
A WEEK AGO"For Christ's sake, where did you go!" She got out of the elevator, standing in front of her door. She searched her bag angrily till it fell to the floor. "Mmmmm," she covered her lips, holding them tight, sitting on her knees, quivering. Her breath increased as she tried to stop herself from crying, "He was mine first!" she yelled, letting them out.The elevator door opened, and Isaac stepped out and stopped when he heard someone cry. He took a step closer and saw a lady folded with her bag between her lap and her hand tightly against her mouth. He wasn't able to see the face of the lady, but she seemed familiar. Soon, she buried her face in her lap, and her wailing continued. She must not have heard him come in. Isaac silently took a step backwards. He reached out for his door but stopped, putting the passcode would only alert her, and he wouldn't want her to feel bad and embarrassed. She looked like she needed those tears. He stood there watching her. Was he to interrupt
"I can't believe she tried to kill herself," Anita choked, her voice filled with emotions she could not define as staring at Gemma on the hospital bed in a white gown. Her face was pale, and she looked helpless. Isaac sat on a chair close to her bed. They both stared at her lying on the hospital bed."She drugged herself... and wanted to jump off, but thank God she passed out before she could," Isaac says, pinching the bridge of his nose, and he exhaled, feeling stressed out from all this."Gosh... o my, I would have tried to talk to her or tried to stop her if I knew she would get obsessed with him like this," Anita says, turning around. She was unable to look at her anymore, feeling distraught."You need to call her parents, right?" Isaac asked."Her mother would not take the news well," Anita says.He was about to reply when Sarah and the others entered the private hospital room. "Oh my god!" Sarah gasped, covering her mouth. She quickly turned away from the sight of her hugging Ma
The night came faster than Isaac could imagine and expanded to days. He had watched Gemma every night. Sarah and the rest seemed to come over every morning and bring what they could, food especially. They would also get flowers and some clothes for her. Now, it's been two weeks since Gemma lay unconscious, and once again, he stayed the night watching her. He sat watching the big bright moon shining in the dark sky, its light illuminating the dark room. Isaac was bored and clueless about what he was doing taking care of a rude girl that he didn't even know, not for days but weeks, and every time Isaac walked in, he pitied her even more. Slowly he turned around, exhausted and ready to sleep but instead found Gemma staring at him."Hi," Gemma said. Her voice was hoarse. He darted at the window and her. And he then smiled, speechless. "You can as well say something," she groaned slightly."You're awake?" he raised his brows in surprise."Can I get a glass of water?" she asked politely. Is
"What did he say to you?" Isaac asked, ignoring her.A FEW HOURS AGO.Gemma stepped into the hotel, and everyone looked beautiful in shining and expensive dresses and handsome men in suits, but she walked in a white crop top and faded Jeans trousers feeling so out of place. She took a deep breath and walked further into the hotel, and as she passed, she felt scared and intimidated. Every single person looked good except the one approaching her."Gemma?" She paused as the familiar voice called, Gemma battled to continue, and as she took a step, the voice rang again, "Gemma!" She inhaled sharply and turned in the direction of the voice."It's you!" He said with a laugh, approaching her. When he was feet away, She returned the smile awkwardly, glancing briefly around."You have no shame to be here-" He started. Gemma immediately gawked at him, but her expressions were meaningless. "Just look at what you're wearing," he eyed her disdainfully, "Did you come here to crash his wedding? If yo
