LOGINTessy’s POV
I had officially lost my mind. That was the only explanation. The entire drive home, all I could think about was the deal I had just made with Ryder King. I was actually going to let him teach me how to get Tristan’s attention. What kind of nonsense was that?! I pulled into the apartment parking lot and rested my forehead against the steering wheel for a long, painful second. “You’re an idiot, Tessy,” I mumbled to myself. A complete, unmitigated idiot. With a defeated sigh, I grabbed my bag and headed upstairs. The moment I unlocked the apartment door, Sophie looked up from the couch. “There she is!” she exclaimed, tossing the TV remote aside. “So? How was tutoring with Mr. Campus Playboy?” I kicked off my shoes and dropped my bag by the door. “I don’t want to talk about it.” Sophie’s eyes lit up instantly. “Oh my God.” She sat up straighter, her full attention locked on me. “What happened?” “Nothing.” “Tessy.” I ignored her and walked toward the kitchen instead. “Tessy.” “I said nothing happened,” I repeated, opening the fridge. She narrowed her eyes, watching my every move over the back of the couch. “You only refuse to talk when something extremely embarrassing happens.” I grabbed a bottle of water and twisted the cap off. “It wasn’t embarrassing.” “So something did happen.” “...” “Tessy.” I took a long drink, keeping the bottle pressed to my lips and hoping she’d somehow magically forget about it. She didn’t. She stood up, walked into the kitchen, and folded her arms over her chest. “I’m waiting.” I slowly lowered the bottle, my cheeks already beginning to burn. “...I accidentally walked in on Ryder.” She blinked once. “...Doing what?” I covered my face with both hands, wanting the ground to open up and swallow me whole. “He... wasn’t alone.” For a full two seconds, Sophie simply stared at me in complete silence. Then she exploded. “No!” she shrieked before collapsing back against the couch, laughing so hard she nearly fell right onto the floor. “Oh my God!” She pointed at me between gasps of air. “You actually walked in on him?!” “I didn’t know someone was in there!” I yelled, clutching my burning face. That only made her laugh harder. “Stop laughing!” “I can’t!” she wheezed, wiping a tear from her eye. “Please tell me what his face looked like!” “I wasn’t looking at his face!” That sent her over the edge, her laughter ringing through the entire apartment. “I hate you,” I groaned into my hands. “No, you don’t,” she wheezed back. “I really do right now,” I grumbled, crossing my arms over my chest. Sophie finally managed to calm down, wiping a tear of laughter from her eye as she sat up on the couch. “So… did you leave?” she asked, her curiosity lingering. “I tried to.” “Tried?” “He stopped me.” Sophie’s amused smile slowly faded, replaced by genuine confusion. “What do you mean, he stopped you?” “He literally blocked the front door.” Her eyebrows shot all the way up to her hairline. “What?” “He apologized, Soph.” “…Ryder King? Apologized?” She blinked, looking like she’d just heard him speak fluent alien. “Apparently, he actually needs to pass art this semester or he’ll lose his place on the hockey team,” I explained, the absurdity of it still landing in my head. “Huh.” She leaned back against the cushions, processing that revelation. “I honestly wasn’t expecting that from him.” “Neither was I.” “So… what happened next?” I hesitated, my thumbs nervously digging into my palms. “He made me a deal.” Sophie’s eyes narrowed instantly, her radar going off. “What kind of deal, Tessy?” “I tutor him so he passes art…” “And?” she pressed, leaning forward. “He helps me get Tristan’s attention.” Absolute, drop-dead silence filled the living room. Then— “Oh…” A slow, terrifying smirk began to spread across Sophie’s face. “Oh, this is bad.” “It isn’t!” I blurted out defensively. “It really, really is.” “No, it’s practical!” “Tessy, you’re about to spend hours alone with Ryder King while he teaches you how to flirt?” “It’s not like that!” “That is exactly what it’s like.” “He knows Tristan!” I argued, throwing my hands up. “So?” “So he knows how guys like Tristan think! He said he can help me.” Sophie stared at me for several long seconds, the smirk fading into a look of quiet disbelief before she shook her head. “Tessy… this is going to end really well…” “Or?” “…or you’re about to become the main character in the messiest romance novel ever written.” I groaned, sliding down into my seat. “It is not a romance.” “Mhm.” “I like Tristan.” “Mhm.” “I actually do!” “Mhm.” “Can you stop saying ‘mhm’?” “No.” I grabbed one of the couch cushions and hurled it at her head. She caught it effortlessly, bursting into a light laugh. “I’m serious, Soph!” “I know you are,” she said softly, her expression softening into genuine concern. She set the cushion down. “Just… don’t let Ryder get into your head. He has a reputation for making girls feel like they’re the only person in the room, and then moving on to the next one.” “I’ll be fine,” I said, though my stomach did a little nervous flutter. “I know what he’s like.” “I hope so.” Before I could say anything else, my phone buzzed sharply against the glass coffee table. Unknown Number. I frowned, reaching for it. “Who is it?” Sophie asked, peeking over. “I don’t know.” I unlocked the screen. Unknown Number: Tomorrow. Four o’clock. Don’t be late. My brow furrowed in confusion. “Who’s that?” “I think…” Buzz. Another notification popped up right below it. Unknown Number: And wear something you actually feel confident in. My eyebrows knitted together tightly. “What?” I quickly tapped the screen to reply. Tessy: Why? Three little animated dots appeared almost immediately, pulsing on the screen. Then his reply hit: Unknown Number: Because tomorrow isn’t just tutoring. A split second later, before I even had time to breathe, one final message flashed across the glass: Unknown Number: Lesson One starts tomorrow. I stared down at the bold black letters, my heart dropping straight into my stomach. “What did he say? What did he send?!” Sophie squealed, practically climbing over the back of the couch to read over my shoulder. I swallowed hard, my fingers trembling slightly as I locked the phone. “…I suddenly have a very bad feeling about this.”Tessy’s POV“Fuck!” I gasped out, a high-pitched cry escaping my lips the moment he slid a second finger deep inside me.Ryder paused, looking up at me through heavy, dark eyes. “Are you okay?”“Yes... I’m... I’m okay,” I slurred, biting my lower lip hard as he established a rhythmic, steady thrust with his fingers. He lowered his head again, wrapping his warm lips around my sensitive clit while continuing to finger me at a torturous pace. A wave of pure heat crashed over me, causing me to completely lose my fucking mind.“Fuck, Ryder!” I let out an uninhibited moan as his pace picked up speed. The sensation building in my lower belly was pure bliss—so overwhelming, so intense that it almost felt like I needed to pee. Panic flared in my chest. I needed him to stop before—“Ryder, I think I’m about to...”“Don’t hold back, Tess,” he rasped against my skin, his thumb circling my clit relentlessly. “Don’t stop yourself.”“Ryder, I think you should—fuckkkk!”I screamed out his name, my en
Tessy’s POVI shouldn’t feel this nervous... right?I had thought about this a hundred times in my head, and I knew I was making the right decision. At least, I truly hoped I was.I stood outside Ryder’s bedroom door, taking a slow, deep breath to steady my racing heart. I pushed the door open, my gaze instantly colliding with Ryder’s dark, waiting eyes. Panic flared in my chest, and I nervously snapped my gaze down to the floor.I walked into his room and set my bag down on the chair. God, this feels so awkward. Was I completely out of my mind asking him for an orgasm yesterday? I must have actually lost my sanity.“Are you okay?” Ryder asked gently, stepping closer.I looked up slightly, swallowing hard. “Yes, I’m fine. Why wouldn’t I be fine?”“You seem really nervous, Tessy,” he murmured, watching me carefully. “Don’t tell me you’re about to change your mind.”I could already picture the smug, teasing smirk forming on his handsome face, so I forced myself to look him dead in the e
Ryder’s POV“What the hell did you just say?” I asked, needing to be absolute fucking certain of what I had just heard.“You heard me, Ryder. I want you to give me an orgasm,” Tessy repeated firmly.I stared at her. Was this a dream or real life? Because it sure as hell felt like a fever dream. I sneaked a pinch to my own arm.Ouch. Okay, it was real.“You don’t need to overthink it,” she added quickly, her cheeks flushing slightly. “It’s strictly going to be sex. I just want to be... experienced and ready when I’m finally with Tristan.”A small frown tugged at my forehead. “So you need me to fix your sex life? You want us to be fake-dating and friends with benefits?”“Yes. Friends with benefits until I orgasms—then we stop,” she bargained, holding her head high.I couldn't stop the slow, cocky smirk from spreading across my face. “Is this really the same Tessy? I honestly never expected the day to come where you’d be begging me to make you come.”Tessy looked away, a ripple of embarr
Ryder’s POV“I think there’s trouble,” Owen said, pointing his stick toward Danny, who was standing by the rink barrier whispering into Coach’s ear. “What do you think he wants? He’s not telling Coach you’re messing with his girl, is he?”“What the fuck are you talking about?” I snapped, annoyance flaring in my chest. “I don’t even speak to Rebecca anymore.”“Okay, okay! Don’t get all defensive about it—I was just messing around,” Owen chuckled, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. “I’m skating away now before you headbutt me.”He glided off, leaving me letting out a heavy sigh of frustration. What the hell is Danny doing over there? What are they talking about?Danny finally walked away, leaving Coach talking to Tristan. A second later, both of their gazes shifted across the ice and landed directly on me.What the fuck is going on?Tristan skated over to where I was leaning against the board.“Danny has officially lost his fucking mind,” Tristan grunted, unbuckling his helmet str
Tessy’s POV“Oh my goodness, move!” I hissed, forcefully shoving Ryder off me.As the sharp knocking continued against the bedroom door, I scrambled out of his bed, frantically smoothing down my rumpled dress and running my fingers through my messy hair. I pulled open the door just enough to see my mother standing in the hallway, looking between the two of us.“Mom,” I squeaked out, my voice way too high-pitched.“Are you both okay in here?” she asked, concern lacing her tone.“Yes! We’re totally fine. I’m completely done looking at his room now, so I should really leave,” I blurted, stepping past her and rushing straight down the hallway. What the hell is wrong with me? I scolded myself, my face burning with embarrassment. Why do I keep letting him kiss me like that?Downstairs in the main foyer, Ryder’s dad looked up with a warm smile playing on his lips. “Tessy, your mom was just asking if you two wanted to stay and watch a movie with us.”“I’m so sorry, Mr. King,” I excused myself
Ryder’s POV“Wow, Dad... you’re really going all out for tonight,” I said, a bitter edge of annoyance coating my words as I watched him adjust the dining table arrangements. “You’re throwing a dinner party in the exact house we built with Mom.”My dad paused, letting out a sharp sigh. “Not now, Ryder. Go upstairs and dress up nicely. I want tonight to be perfect.”My jaw tightened into a hard frown. “Of course, Dad. It’ll be absolutely perfect.”I turned on my heel and headed upstairs toward my old bedroom, annoyance thrumming beneath my skin. I hadn't stepped foot in this house in years. Walking through these hallways felt eerie; every corner was steeped in memories of my mother. My eyes drifted to the framed canvas paintings lining the walls. Mom and I had painted every single one of them together. Despite the ache in my chest, a small, nostalgic smile pulled at my lips.“Don’t worry, Mom,” I whispered softly to the empty hall. “I remember what you told Dad—that you didn’t want him
