Chapter 14

Summer froze for a moment, and her eyes were filled with tears as she raised her head to look at Jasper.

“I didn’t, but on my way home…” Summer tried to explain things.

“What’s with your forehead?” Jasper furrowed his eyebrows. He had just noticed the bruise on Summer’s forehead.

“N-nothing. It’s nothing. I injured myself.” Summer stuttered as she lowered her head. She no longer wanted to explain things to Jasper.

Because it would be meaningless.

“Heh, it seems that you’ve managed to get into Adrian’s good books. This place is pretty well-equipped now.” After shutting the metal door, Jasper glanced at his surroundings in disdain, and his gaze became increasingly icy.

Summer’s head was lowered, and she said nothing.

“Until the baby is born, you’ll have to stay here obediently. If you upset Victoria again by letting her see you, I’ll chase you out of Sea City. Do you understand?”

There was a hint of warning in Jasper’s voice as he gripped Summer’s chin and forced her to look up at him.

He was used to seeing how timid, meek, and obedient Summer was. He could not stand her glassy eyes and blank expression.

“Jaz…” Summer’s hand was trembling as she softly held Jasper’s wrist. She was in so much pain that her eyes were slowly beginning to well up with tears.

“Can you let me leave, please…”

She wanted him to let her leave.

Jasper’s hand, which was holding onto Summer’s chin, froze. Without being aware of it, he forcefully shoved Summer away.

In the past, no matter how badly he had mistreated her, Summer had never asked to leave.

She had always meekly and carefully tried to please him, always being afraid that he would leave her.

But now, she was asking him to let her leave.

*Bang!* Summer’s legs suddenly went limp, and she crashed against the rickety coffee table, accidentally dropping her new cell phone onto the floor.

Her heart was racing as she quickly picked up the cell phone, and she only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that it was not damaged.

Jasper looked at Summer, scrutinizing her every move with an arrogant expression.

“You seem to care a lot about this cell phone. Adrian bought you this, didn’t he? You seemed pretty eager when you were learning how to use it at the cafe.” Jasper walked in front of Summer and lowered his body a little, with the look in his eyes becoming cold and colder.

For some reason, there was a feeling of rage burning in his heart. Jasper did not even know why he was feeling so worked up.

“No, I just want to…” She just wanted to see more of Adrian using her cell phone. She did not mind, even if she only got to see his photographs.

“Be obedient and give birth to the baby. Before that, don’t even think about leaving me. Do you understand?” He squeezed Summer’s chin as his gaze fell upon the blisters on the back of her hands.

Summer lowered her gaze and nodded meekly.

Where could she go after leaving him?

“Come over here!” Jasper called out in annoyance after he rose to have a seat on the bed.

Summer was so frightened that her whole body went stiff, and she looked anxiously at Jasper. “Jaz… I’m pregnant now. Can we not…”

Summer was incredibly terrified. After all, s*x was the only thing Jasper had ever wanted whenever he came to look for her.

Jasper raised his head to glance at Summer as he massaged the space between his brows.

“Come over here!”

“But I really…” Summer was almost in tears as she rose and slowly walked over to Jasper. She wanted to tell him that she was not feeling well, but Jasper had flown into a rage the previous time she did so.

“Take your clothes off.”

At the headquarters of Dawn Corporation.

Victoria was a little distracted as she sat in the meeting room.

Jasper did end up helping Dawn Corporation with their funding. But this had not solved the root of their problem.

Truth be told, marrying Jasper would be the best way for Victoria to solve this crisis that Dawn Corporation was going through. But she had been hesitant.

“Young mistress, Samson Ardly is back in the country.”

“Really?” A hint of surprise flashed across Victoria’s eyes, and she rose in excitement. “Where is he? I want to see him.”

“Mr. Samson returned to the Ardly family’s mansion. I heard that the master of the Ardly family was very happy because of Mr. Samson’s return to the country, and he will be organizing a welcoming party for him at Princecourt Hotel. Members of all the rich and powerful family in Sea City are invited, and you are one of them, young mistress.” Victoria’s assistant was smiling as she placed the invitation card on the table. She then continued, “I heard that the master of the Ardly family had even praised you in front of the chairman, calling you one of the top socialites of Sea City.”

Victoria blushed a little, and she was a bit flustered as she looked at the invitation card. “He’s back. That’s really great.”

After her assistant had left, Victoria’s joy slowly got taken over by worry.

Now that Samson was back, he might find out that Summer Plath was still alive.

No, she must not let that happen!

She must get rid of Summer Plath as soon as possible!

“Where’s Jasper keeping Summer Plath?” Victoria made a call and asked in a hushed voice.

“You guys had deceived me the other time. If you can’t do your job properly this time, I won’t let you have a single cent!” Victoria warned coldly.

At the rented place.

Summer was trembling violently as she carefully stripped.

“Now that you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t be so clumsy anymore.” Jasper glanced at the bruises and blisters on Summer’s body and pulled her into his embrace. “As long as you are obedient, I won’t abandon you. You won’t have to stay here anymore after giving birth to this baby.”
