Chapter 15

Summer trembled increasingly violently. She no longer believed in whatever Jasper was saying.

“Jaz, go ahead and marry Victoria… I won’t disturb you guys. I don’t mind staying anywhere with the baby. I’ll be able to support myself and the baby,” Summer said in a soft voice as she leaned against Jasper’s chest. She was trembling more and more violently.

“Sleep!” Jasper said in agitation and covered Summer with the chilly blanket.

For some reason, he did not want to tell Summer that he would be giving the baby to Victoria after she gave birth to it.

From then onward, the baby would have nothing to do with her.

“Jaz, aren’t you leaving?” Summer looked at Jasper in shock. Was he not planning to bully her today?

Jasper froze for a moment. Why would he not leave? Why would he stay in this horrible rented house? Had he gone crazy?

Summer’s bright eyes slowly dimmed, and she bit her lower lip self-deprecatingly.

Why would he stay here?

*Bang!* Jasper slammed the door shut after switching off the lights.

Summer took a deep breath, and she could not stop her tears from rolling down her cheeks.

What was she anticipating?

Jasper was already being extremely merciful by letting her keep this baby.

“Baby, you’re the only one mummy has left.” She carefully curled up and held her belly tight. “You must be obedient. You’re all I need…”

There was no longer any light in Summer’s world.

But she still had her baby, and not all hope was lost.

…..

At the headquarters of Miller Corporation.

“Have you received the invitation card from the Ardly family? Samson Ardly is back.

Adrian sat opposite Jasper at Jasper’s office table and knocked the table with his knuckles.

“So what?” Jasper raised his head and glanced coldly at Adrian before he continued to read the document he was holding.

“People have been saying that now that Samson Ardly is back, you’ll probably no longer be the most eligible bachelor in Sea City.”

Jasper looked at Adrian like he was looking at an idiot.

“Truth be told, you look pretty similar to Samson Ardly. It’s not just the way you guys look, but mainly the aura you emanate.” Adrian chuckled. Samson had gone to Country M when they were in high school. They used to be schoolmates, but they did not really keep in touch after that.

Back then, Samson and Jasper were the most sought after guys in school, and many girls admired them. If it was not for the fact that Samson had blue eyes because of his mixed heritage, people might really mistake them for brothers.

Jasper was about to sign a document when he froze, and he tossed the pen onto the table in agitation. “What on earth are you trying to imply?"

Now that he had been called out, Adrian chuckled and no longer minced his words. “The man Victoria Dawn was chasing after like a slut in Country M is Samson Ardly. I’m worried for you, bro, as you might very well be cheated on.”

“Are you done speaking?” The look in Jasper’s eyes became increasingly dim.

Adrian obediently shut his mouth and shrugged.

“By the way, are you really intending to let Summer keep her baby? What are you thinking?” Adrian decided to stop talking about Samson and change the topic. Even though Jasper was his good friend, it would not be good for him to comment too much on Jasper’s love life.

“Yeah. Vic had an accident in Country M before and is unable to conceive. The Miller family needs an heir, so I’ll ask Summer to give the baby to Victoria.” Jasper sounded nonchalant as he spoke about this, as if asking a woman to give her baby to another woman was nothing.

There was a shocked expression on Adrian’s face, and he slowly straightened up. “Will Summer agree to that?”

“Does she have a choice?” Jasper was getting more and more agitated by how much Adrian cared about Summer.

“You’re really trying to drive her up the wall, aren’t you?” Adrian shook his head and chuckled. “Aren’t you afraid that you’ll regret treating her like this one day?”

“Regret? Are you kidding me?” Jasper sneered. He rose and adjusted his necktie. “It’s just a baby. I’ll give her whatever she wants after that.”

Adrian stared at Jasper for a long time as he gently knocked on the table with his knuckles.

“Her body is very weak, and there’s a huge possibility that she might suffer from a miscarriage as she was taking birth control pills before this. If you want things to go smoothly, you better treat her well before she gives birth to this baby.”

Adrian paused for a moment and continued, “If something like what happened that day happens again, not even God will be able to protect the baby inside Summer’s womb.”

“Noted!” Jasper said rather impatiently.

At SN flagship store.

Summer was holding some vegetables as she passed by Thousand Cities Square. The rented place did not come with a nanny, and no one cared about whether she was dead or alive.

Jasper cared so much about Victoria that he had forgotten to give Summer any money so that she could survive.

The food in restaurants was too expensive, and Summer could not afford it. But she knew very well that she had to be well-nourished for the sake of her baby. Adrian had already helped her out a lot, and it was not like she could ask Jasper for money either.

“Hello. I was in a rush to leave that day, and I left my pendant with you guys. Can you return it to me?” Subconsciously, Summer felt that the pendant was very important to her.

The shop assistant working at SN flagship store raised his hand to stop Summer from coming in and looked at her in disdain.

“You thief! How dare you come here again! Where did you get that pendant?”

Summer froze for a moment. She panicked a little.

She did not remember anything that happened before the accident, and she did not know where the pendant came from.

Behind the counter.

“Chairman Ardly, are you back to take over the Ardly family’s businesses? You’re one of the stakeholders of SN, and we will naturally follow all your orders…”

Samson was standing in front of the counter, and he glanced outside the door without being aware of it.

He sucked in a sharp breath, and he quickly walked out of the shop before the other party could finish speaking.

“Sum…”
