Chapter 4

Shannon had been staring at me the whole time. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and smiled.

“That’s impossible, Jeremy. You must be secretly buying a ring to surprise me, right?”

Celia, however, looked completely unimpressed.

“Since you already had the necklace custom-made, why don’t you let Chase try it on?”

Chase tugged at her arm.

“Celia, even if those are pieces Jeremy doesn’t want, I’m not worthy of wearing them.”

Shannon and Celia looked at him sympathetically.

Celia even turned to me and said, “Jeremy, you can’t possibly wear all that jewelry anyway. So, why don’t you just let Chase pick something first?”

Shannon put it in a gentler tone.

“Jeremy, you can’t possibly wear every piece, so just give Chase one of the necklaces.”

‘These two are beyond shameless. These necklaces are clearly designed for a woman. But even if they aren’t, why should I give anything to an ingrate like Chase?’ I thought.

“Why should I give him custom jewelry that I paid for myself?”

The moment I said that, Celia and Shannon’s expressions darkened.

“Jeremy, we’re all human. What right do you have to look down on Chase because of his background?

“Chase was right about you. You’re such a snob. You can’t even bring yourself to give him an emerald necklace.”

I laughed out of sheer anger.

“I would sooner put these pieces on a dog than give them to him!”

Chase said nothing, but he teared up.

Celia and Shannon immediately felt sorry for him.

“Don’t be upset. I’ll buy these necklaces for you.”

While they called over the staff to process their payment, Chase came over and held up his hand. He showed me the ring on his ring finger.

“Look. Celia gave me this ring. She said you could only give it to one person in your lifetime.”

Chase even took the ring off and showed me the engraving inside.

He kept going on and on and buzzed in my ear like a fly.

I finally had enough, so I raised my hand and slapped him across the face.

Chase stared at me in shock and took a long time to recover.

Once Celia and Shannon realized what had happened, they grabbed me and demanded an apology.

“Jeremy, that was completely out of line. Apologize to Chase right now!”

‘Apologize? What do I have to apologize for?’ I thought.

“I was wrong.”

Celia and Shannon’s expressions softened slightly when they heard me admit my mistake.

However, the next moment, I turned the tables.

“I was wrong for being so blind when getting to know the two of you. Kiara, we’re leaving. This place is tainted now. We don’t want any of this stuff anymore!”

As I took Kiara by the hand and started to leave, Celia rushed forward and blocked my path.

“Jeremy, apologize to Chase, or else, you’re not leaving this store today!”

I calmly looked at Celia and Shannon, who glared at me.

“You don’t get to decide whether I leave or stay.”

Shannon raised her hand and moved to slap me, but someone stopped her.

It was Kiara.

Her defense of me caught me off guard.

Shannon was furious when Kiara stopped her.

“You’re mute and powerless, and you have no influence. Yet, you think you can interfere in our business?”

Just as we reached a standoff, the store manager, Thomas Quinton, rushed over with the security guards. He nodded respectfully toward me and Kiara.

“The owner’s daughter has given us strict instructions not to sell our jewelry to anyone except Mr. Cottrell.”
