"What in the hell!?" I was yelling like a maniac in the lobby; all of the Harrison Inc. employees and some other important visitors were looking at me like I was crazy. Paul put the phone on hold and mouthed "what are you doing", but in all honesty I couldn't answer, since I didn't really know myself.
I jogged my ass to the elevator, which Sebastian was already inside of, and stopped the doors from closing with my hand. When they re opened, a pair of surprised green eyes looked up from an iPhone, then turned into angry ones.
Frankly both of our eyes shared a similar emotion.
I walked into the elevator, ready to escort him out, until both of the doors were closed and we made our descent.
"Shit." I mumbled.
He put his phone in his pocket. "What are you doing?" He asked.
"I should be asking you the same question. Your father told you to stay in the lobby. How can you not follow simple directions?" He rolled his eyes, but I continued to school him.
"I mean, it's a freaking sandwich. Are you that freaking hungry to deliberately disobey your father? You know how much trouble you'll get in? How much trouble I will get in? I mean he'll think that I gave you a free pass and everything will go down from there." Sebastian suddenly wore a smile, and gave me a quizzical look.
"What?" I asked, pressing the button for the top floor.
"You aren't worried about me, you're worried about yourself, about losing your job. Not only that, but the money as well. Once my dad said fifteen grand you erased all doubt and took the job. Why were you so eager to take the money? Is there something, someone, you're running from?"
"Really? Preposterous. This company is my life, I have worked too damn hard to watch it tumble to the ground-"
The elevator doors opened, and Henrieta, an elderly business woman who worked in Marketing stood there, glancing back and forth at both of us. She then smiled warmly
"Hello, Leslie dear." She said.
"Hello, Henrieta. I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately I'm going to have to ask you to-"
She held her hand up and shook her head. "Say no more, dear. I'll wait for the next elevator."
I thanked her, than watched her open her folder and look at the paper work inside before the doors closed.
"Wow, dissing an old woman. I thought I was bad." Sebastian said.
"Oh shut up. Why are you like this? Can't you be mature for, I don't know, three minutes? I already have to spend three months with you. Can you make my job any easier?"
He approached me, causing my back to be pinned against the wall. He towered over my 5'3 frame, which made it hard for me to be as assertive as I was a few seconds ago.
"First off, I never wanted this. You were the one who agreed to this bullshit, when you could have easily denied it. It's not my fault you're so money hungry."
My mouth opened in shock, appalled at his choice of words.
"And second, I wasn't going to the main lobby for lunch, I was going to the second floor to pick something up. But you messed that up by pressing the button for the first floor instead."
"You saw me, I pressed for the top floor. Why would I do something as stupid as that?"
Within that moment, the elevator doors opened, and sure enough the main lobby was in plain view. Due to safety measures, they let the paparazzi inside since they were crowding the street. Over two dozen of them stood around fixing their cameras and socializing, some arguing with the security and receptionist.
There was then no time to react. I couldn't even push Sebastian away from me until someone saw us.
"Sebastian!" was all it took for the herd to stop what they were doing and storm over to the elevator, snapping pictures and screaming over each other. I pushed Sebastian away from me, but it was too late. I was certain they had already snapped a few good pictures of us, which would be shared greatly over the next few hours.
Sebastian hit the elevator wall with his fist.
"Shit!" He yelled.
Six security guards sprinted to the mad house by the elevator. Two worked at pushing all of them back while two squeezed their way into the elevator. One stayed behind trying to block cameras, which wasn't very effective. Thankfully, I have dealt with Paparazzi countless times, so I knew some sort of way to make sure there were no more pictures snapped. I snatched Sebastian's jacket off to shield my face from the lights. Sebastian didn't protest since he knew exactly what I was trying to do. While I wore his jacket over my head, I couldn't get over how amazing his jacket smelled.
I know, smell someone's jacket while the Paparazzi are trying to eat you alive. Very clever, Leslie.
The chaos just got worse and worse every second. The doors wouldn't close since they were interfering with the sensor, so the two security guards blocked me and Sebastian while the rest pushed the herd farther and farther from the elevator. The security and Paparazzi were spitting curse words even I haven't heard of; my eyes widened at the words they were saying.
Eventually, the herd was pushed back enough to let the doors finally close, but before they could close, a petite blonde squeezed through security and into the elevator as the doors met. The security almost threw her out before they recognized her face.
Lucinda.
"Lucinda, what are you doing here?" I asked.
She held up a bag from McCarthy's Sandwich Shop in her hand.
"I got Sebastian's Sandwich!" She replied happily.
Even after what had happened, Sebastian couldn't help but laugh.
All five of us stood in the elevator in silence, still trying to wrap our minds around what happened. The only sound came from one of the security guards opening a water bottle he had in his pocket. I still had Sebastian's jacket in my hand but he didn't ask for it back yet, since he was now eating his sandwich. He was scarfing that thing down like it was the last thing to eat on earth. Lucinda stood next to me, staring at him with hopeful eyes. I leaned in to Lucinda's ear."He may want it from you soon, but not now." I whispered. Her smile faded, and she turned and faced the elevator doors disappointed.A ring from a cell phone halted my thoughts. One of the security guards pulled out his phone and answered it. He walked into the corner of the elevator, so we couldn't hear what he was saying. I was surprised he has signal in here, until I saw it was those indestructible Nokia phones from the 90's.Lucinda turned towards me. "So wh
Once we got to the garage, another pair of security guards were waiting for us. They led us to a black SUV, and opened the door for me to get in to the back."Is everything alright, Ms. King?" Edward asked, in an emotionless tone. I nodded as I put my seat belt on, even though I was lying.Nothing was alright. It had been a long morning, a very long morning. I almost got fired twice, and my face was plastered on every gossip blog and TV show in California for now. Running away to Tennessee wasn't going to make anything better. I just hope that Darcy knows what she's doing, and by the time I get back my name will only be remembered as the millionaire's publicist's.The two security guards sat next to me, one on each side, then shut the door. I was squished in between their muscular arms, but I couldn't complain. I had a feeling they didn't want to be here either. The windows were so ti
The time was 2:45, but it had felt like we were only talking for mere minutes. Beth had decided that she wanted to enjoy something hard, and Vodka happened to be the first drink she spotted in the cabinet. I took a sip of the over bearing drink and decided that I wouldn't have anymore enter my body, no matter how much Beth insisted."C'mon, Les! Just one more drink." She pleaded. She was obviously entering the beginning stages of intoxication, for she could barely keep her balance sitting down. Paul downed a small glass of Vodka with one tip like a pro. Sure, he did cough a few times when he successfully swallowed the drink, but he managed to keep it down. He reached for the bottle and poured himself another glass, spilling the Vodka all over the table."Le-les. Just live 'little. Just one drink." Paul gurgled. He paused after every word to gather the right ones to say.I went into the kitchen and grabbed an old rag from under the s
I heard someone stepping into the jet, being none other than Sarah the bitch. She rolled her eyes when she saw me."Not here for a cat fight," I started, "I just want to see what's going on, that's all.""Well we're in agreement in something, this shit is fucking crazy." She replied. She leaned over the leather seat next to the one I was on and looked out the window. We could hear their conversation perfectly."I wanted to surprise you, sweetheart." Fiona said. Sebastian took off his shades to examine his mother more prominently. Eric stood by the SUV, while Lucas stood by the stairs to the jet, not wanting to be in the cross fire. Edward, however, stood by Fiona, still in shock he was blindsided."Surprise me with what?" Sebastian asked."Well, with you taking over the company and all. I didn't know you would have to go through some cleansing process to do it. I guess it's for the best, I've been v
20 minutes later we were in the air. The sun was beginning to set while we ascended into the clouds, so we would be flying in the dark soon."Can I get you anything, Miss. King?" A flight attendant asked. She was an older woman, about a decade older than me but still looked prettier than me.As always."Um, yes I would like some champagne." I replied. She smiled. She turned to Sarah, who was gazing out the window at the clouds"And you, Miss. Gonzales?""Um, no I'm OK." She said. The flight attendant nodded her head and made her way down the cabin."You know it's not wise to drink on the job, Miss. King." Sebastian said in a flat tone, typing on his laptop.I rolled my eyes."He's a piece of work, isn't he? Took him a month to get used to me when Garret hired me." Sarah whispered.I looked at her surprised. Was she
After saving the document, I contemplated staying here with Sebastian or going back to sit with Fiona and Sarah. Lucas had awoken a few seconds before, but was still in a daze. He looked around the jet, confused."Oh, hey Leslie. Hello Mr. Harrison. I'm sorry, how long have I been sleep?""About an hour I think." Sebastian answered.Lucas sighed and stretched. I figured since he was awake it gave me the right away to go back to my seat since I wasn't needed to keep him company anymore, but something inside of me wanted to stay, to find out more about Sebastian. Even though it was no surprise seeing him in a magazine almost every month, I felt like there was more mystery behind Sebastian that he wanted to keep hidden. The flight attendant made her way to where we sat. "Dinner will be served in twenty minutes." She said. I looked out the window. The sun had complete disappeared and the moon was hidden behind the cloud
As the flight attendant gave us our options for dinner, I was eager to hear what Fiona was going to say. In all honesty, it was hypocritical to say that Sebastian was going to be bias about everything, considering she was divorced, and a bitoverenthusiasticabout most things. Still, I was going to be open minded about whatever she had to say, and maybe later on get Sebastian's opinion on his Mommy and Daddy issues. Ten minutes later, we had four plates of traditional steak and potatoes set in front of us. Since none of us obviously felt like being a little original, we all got the same thing. Dinner remained untouched for a few minutes. We just sat there, looking at each other. Fiona looked as if she was eager yet hesitant on telling me her family business. Lucas exchanged looks with everyone before picking up his
I thought the fact that they stayed at fancy hotels and flew in private jets was enough. The manor was huge. I have stayed at big houses before for promotional trips and such but this house was unnecessarily big. A giant water fountain sat in the middle of a gravel driveway that let to a set of long stairs. The porch portrayed a classic country farm home, but the four thirty feet pillars that held the house up said otherwise. The manor was a good three stories. The dark of the night made it hard for me to see the design of the manor, but from what I could gather it had Victorian elements on the balconies and on the various windows that were lined across. The giant two front doors were wide open. The only people who were outside were me, Sarah and Sebastian, who was standing on the p
