Nothing to lose

“The devils are here tonight.”

Those were the only words Kon's mind decided to replay as he walked through the tables. He got orders from a few of the tables in the first three rooms. And he was yet to enter the upper rooms.

Those rooms at the other end of the hall are known as the VVIP rooms. They are always occupied by those of importance to the city.

Especially, Men, you shouldn't trifle with.

“Phew.”

Kon wiped the sweat from his brows when he finally made a round through the first three rooms.

He hated this part of his job. However, there was no way he can quit, as this is the only place willing to employ a high school student. And not only that, but the tips he gets from here, coupled with his pay, are more than any place can ever pay him.

That's the reason he decided to stay here.

The reason Kon hated the VIP was because of what happened in there.

Unlike the ordinary areas of the bar, the things that happen in the VIP area aren't something a young student like Kon should be allowed to see.

However, the things that go on in the VIP area are nothing compared to the things that go on in his home.

His mother has turned their home into a mini local brothel.

Tonight, the strippers have gone to the extreme. Three of the girls were dancing naked on the pole as the rich men, who frequent the bar, clapped their hands as they watched the females in anticipation.

“Phew.” Kon breathed out a sigh of relief when he stepped out of the third room so far. Working in the regular room is better than working in the VIP. At least he won't have any need to be civil, despite the urge he has to hit one or two of the men who tried to cup a feel.

He doesn't understand the men enough.

How can men want to touch another one as they do to females?

It's something they do that he doesn't understand. And Kon doesn't want to understand.

The only language he understands is the Language of fists.

“Where are you going, cutie?” One of the men, who came out of the second door, staggered close to Kon.

The black tiger as the man is known is the head of the Loan shark company. At the young age of twenty, he was able to kill his father and take over the company.

The black tiger is a young man in his late twenties.

He's always dressed in black attire, and he always wears black boots. No one else has ever seen him wear any shoes aside from the black boots. And that caused a rumour that's going around the town.

Most believed that those black boots are his lucky charms.

And in some ways, they are his lucky charms. Not that anything lucky has happened to him with the boot. However, he believed in that.

After all, they were given to him by the only person he admired; his grandmother.

He was putting on the black boots the night he killed his father, mercilessly in cold blood.

And since then, the black tiger has been feared among the people. He's not a man to be trifled with.

The dark knife mark that ran from his forehead and through the right part of his face, made him formidable.

However, Kon doesn't seem to mind. After all, he has nothing to lose. His family already owns tons of money. He had nothing of value to his name.

“Work.” Just a word and Kon started heading over to the fourth room for the night.

His work was Just simple. All he had to do was take orders from the people in there, and pass them across to the bartenders.

Each night, he makes a round of the various rooms three times before he calls it a night. During the three times, his job was to take orders and deliver them to those who requested them.

“Where do you think you are going to? I'm not done talking to you?”

“And you think I care?” Kon bites back in anger.

The man was stunned at his questions. Never have someone been bold enough to challenge the black tiger.

“Who are you?” The black tiger seethes in anger. He has his palms balled in anger as he narrowed his eyes at the boy who dared to challenge him.

“I'm a boy who has nothing to do with you.”

Kon's hand ached to make a collision with the stupid man's jaws. But he held himself from doing that because he knows that nothing good can come from causing trouble.

“Hey!” The black tiger raised his hand to hit Kon who was ready to retaliate.

He hates to fight, but when the other part starts a fight, he's not one to back down from it.

“Master!” One of the black tiger's men ran out of the room. He glanced around, searching for his master. “Master!” He ran to where the black tiger and Kon were currently having a staring contest.

Alone in the dark corridor that's only illuminated by the red bulb, the two men stood in front of the fourth door, staring down at each other as if they were preparing for a match.

Kon was ready for him. He was ready to show the black tiger that this poor boy from the slums isn't ready to back down from a fight.

“What is it?” The black tiger asked, without turning to look at his man.

“We got a call from the company. There is a situation at the North—”

The black tiger raised his hand, and that caused his minion to stop talking.

He knew that if he doesn't stop his minion, the fool will go on spurting words no other person should be privy to.

“If you don't mind, I will be on my merry way.” Kon wasn't ready to listen to whatever the two might wish to discuss. He has something important to do, and that's to check on the others in the other rooms.
