Leon

Immediately we got home, she hurried to her room looking exhausted. She had dozed off in the car, head leaning against the window like she was holding the world at arm’s length. I didn’t bother to wake her up till we got here. What would’ve been the point? She was too far gone to care. I’d already set the tone earlier, made her believe Jasper was just somewhere out there, unreachable, probably forgetting his phone like some careless asshole.

She bought it. Or maybe she just wanted to.

“Are you sure of what you’re doing?”

The question came from behind me, Sean’s voice rough around the edges.

I didn’t stop walking. “What the fuck does that mean?”

“You know what it means.”

I paused at my door, hand on the knob. I didn’t like his tone. Not tonight. “If this is about Jasper, drop it.”

“You lied to her.”

“I left out details,” I said, turning to face him. “Not the same thing.”

Sean crossed his arms, looking every bit like someone about to cross a line he couldn’t uncross. “You told her

TamaraSean had always been easy to talk to. One of those men who knew how to stand just close enough to feel familiar, without setting off alarms. Always polite. Always smiling. The kind of warmth that made you want to open doors you usually kept shut. But lately... something changed. He lingered more. Watched longer. When he complimented me, it wasn’t about the way I looked, but how I moved, how I laughed, how I held silence. That kind of attention? It wasn't friendly anymore. It was quiet interest. A subtle invitation. And Leon noticed. That night, after dinner, the air in the lounge was easy, full of small talk and distant music. Sean made a joke—I don't even remember what it was—but it had me laughing without thinking. He walked past, his hand brushing the small of my back. A brief touch, light as breath.Still, I felt it.I looked up without meaning to. Leon stood by the fireplace, drink in hand, eyes locked on me like a loaded gun. The muscles in his jaw flexed. His stare didn’

LeonI watched Tamara swirl the wine in her glass, her fingers lightly tapping the stem like she needed the motion to stay in control. She hadn’t taken a single sip. Just held it, like the shape of the glass was the only thing anchoring her to the moment. She didn’t want to be here. Not really. Not in this rooftop lounge full of curated luxury and stiff jazz. Not with the skyline stretched out like a postcard we were supposed to admire together. No, she was somewhere else entirely. Still thinking about the call she didn’t get. The person she didn’t get to talk to.Her brother. And that was on me.She placed the glass down gently, then leaned a little closer. Her voice was quiet, steady. “You don’t have to feel guilty. I’ll talk to Jasper some other time.”I nodded like I believed her. Like I hadn’t intentionally blocked that moment from happening. I told myself it was for a reason—because I didn’t trust Jasper, because I wasn't ready to let go of that bastard until he paid my shit—but

TamaraI turned on the bed when I felt his hand on my legs. I had laid down not quite long enough for a short nap. It didn't hurt so much when I had my head on my bed. I didn't need to look at his face to see that it was Leon. I rubbed my eyes, still a bit sleepy, “go get dressed, we're going out,” he said, his eyes holding mine. I raised a brow at him. A few minutes ago, we had a little fight. Did he think he could just come here and get me out of bed and everything would be okay?“I don't want to…”“Trust me, you'll love to. And you'd get to speak to Jasper today.” My entire mood brightened at his words.“Really?” He nodded and I leaped out of my bed, momentarily forgetting that I was still mad at him. I don't care about what he does or how I reacted to what he did, what matters is that I got to speak to Jasper. I have stayed up for various nights trying to create the scene of how meeting him again would be. I knew Leon would allow me to speak to him. “Where are we going? What do

LeonTechnically, I wasn't sleeping with her. At least not yet. Her eyes burn with intensity. I knew what she wanted to hear, but I wasn't ready to give her such an answer. “Now, you aren't going to speak, right?” Her gaze was slowly turning into something fiery. I have never seen her like this and do not want to see her like this.“Tamara.” I began, but she raised one hand, stopping me from speaking. “There's no need to say anything anymore. I get it.” She started to walk back, but I quickly caught her wrist, “where are you going?” I asked her.“Why do you care?” She asked coldly and pulled her hands away from my hold. “Tamara, I…” she was already at the door without any last look, she banged the door. I listened to her retreating steps. I ran a hand through my hair. Her question has taken me by surprise. Yes, I think about her all the time. I want to do unholy things to her all the time. I care greatly about her and would rather watch the world burn than allow one of her hair to go

LeonTamara leaned into my touch, her body sagging against mine. I smiled down at her as she closed her eyes. I had drained her of her strength, and I didn't even feel bad about it. Just then, her stomach growled, and she stiffened as her eyes opened, blushing from the roots of her hair down to her neck. I almost couldn't control the laughter that was about to slip from my mouth, but I restrained myself. I was a strict man, and I can't remember the last time I laughed as much as I did this afternoon with her. She brings out that side of me, and I liked it. Right now, she looked beautiful as she put her lips into her mouth, averting her eyes from mine. I stood up from the desk, bringing her with me.“Come, let's get some food.” Her hands in mine, I beelined for the kitchen. When we got there, I set her on the counter, and for a moment, I was distracted by her posture. Maybe I should have eaten her out on the counter instead of my office desk. Well, we had time, and I'll make sure I
