Eggust’s Pov The anger I nurtured on my way to the police station morphed to triple fold the second I discovered that they got the wrong person. “How do you mean you got the wrong person?” I questioned Ezekiel in anger, but he said nothing. They arrested an innocent person and while I knew that was mostly my fault due to the orders I gave I was still angry regardless. “I need an explanation.” I demanded. “The person they brought is innocent. She just happened to be guilty by association. The original blackmailer is her cousin, at least according to what she said, which I have a hard time believing.” He said just the way they explained to us. I went into the interrogation room and looked at the lady sitting before me. “How does it feel to be finally caught?” I clenched my fists, “how does it feel to completely ruin someone’s life. Do you know how many nights she stayed up crying? Worrying about what next dimwits like you would do to dent her image? I clenched my fist
Eggust’s POV During mom’s first two days in the hospital, I didn't notice anything off at first till I spent time with her and discovered She didn't stay up for longer than five minutes at a time but the doctor assured us that it wasn’t abnormal. "She should be fully awake and coherent by the third or fourth day." he told us So my routine revolved around her; making sure she was alright, she was eating healthy, taking her medication. As I got to the hospital, with Ezekiel following close behind, I ran into an elderly man and a young boy in the elevator. The elderly man was dressed simply with a navy blue polo-shirt and pants while the boy was in jeans and a colorful top. He couldn't have been more than seven or eight years old. He held a bouquet of hydrangeas tightly, as if he was afraid of it being snatched away from him. I could tell from their clothes and their demeanor that they weren't very well off, but they seemed happy. I w
Hera's POV I was so annoyed after speaking to Marco that I walked for almost a kilometer before remembering that I needed to get a place to stay. I was still on the run. The bastard was so annoying. Who the hell does he think he was? I called to warn him as I was sure he wouldn't have done if the case was reversed and he'd had the effrontery to accuse me? The least he could have done was to say thank you, but of course, he had no manners. How could a mannerless he-goat be grateful? He was such an idiot and I regretted working with him but at that time, I was so desperate. Without any other options, he seemed like a fair choice. But now,.... Anyway, it did not matter anymore. I just hoped they did not get him because he had more information on me than everyone else and so that would be my downfall for sure. I stopped by a fast food place and went in to grab a bite. “What do you want?” A waiter asked. “Give me whatever you have.” “I
Eggust's POV My mom woke up this morning and as usual I was expecting her to go back to sleep but she didn’t, even after one hour, meaning she was fully awake. And this was the final proof that the surgery was successful. I was worried about her not being fully awake for the past two days but the doctor assured me that it wasn’t abnormal for patients her age after a surgery. "Hello mum." She smiled back and caressed my cheek. Her eyes regained their focus and I noticed a look of surprise on her face as she recognized me. She struggled to sit up. "No mum. You can't sit up yet." I tried to push her back down but she struggled so I let her sit up. After taking a few moments to recover, she turned and stared at me with a frown and my heart dropped. Oh fuck! We weren’t on good terms before the accident and since she hadn’t been awake for more than a few minutes for the last two days I had not had to worry about our discord before now. Did she remember that now that sh
Eggust's POV Alarm bells went off in my head. The 26th of April!!! The 26th of freaking April! How the hell did that happen? "Mom..." I started but the doctor quickly jumped in. Apparently he had noticed that something was wrong. "Please excuse us for a minute." he said to us and we stepped out. He spoke to her for a while and then wheeled her out for checkups. After about an hour of tests and consultations, he invited me to his office. I stood up from the waiting area to go in with Ezekiel but he refused to let him come in. "Family members only." he told us. I turned to look at him then at Ezekiel, and replied, "Well if Ezekiel isn't family then I don't know who is." After asking me a few questions about what had happened between my mum and Juss in the last few months, he gave his diagnosis. "She had Localized amnesia." Ezekiel frowned. "I thought she had dissociative amnesia." I turned to look at him, then back at the doctor. "What does that mean?"
Juss' POV "You don't have to be selfish on this one too, Juss. I've been asking like forever. After all I've done for you, you can't do this one thing for me?" Marco complained, looking like a kid who's candy was stolen. I stared back at him as he turned to face the window, hands akimbo while muttering to himself.Sighing, I rubbed the nape of my neck slightly. I just came in from a stressful day at work. I was too tired to do this right now.Sitting at the kitchen table with a glass of water in front of me, I wasn't paying much attention to what he was saying. The Dean had requested a meeting that took up most of the day and I had to rush through 3 lectures after that. I hadn't even had lunch, coming home to Marco acting like a sonofabitch was the least I expected. Not like you can ever expect much from the man."We've gone through this so many times! Tell me, what is wrong with me buying a house in my name, Marco?" I finally asked him. Since we were going to do this, I might
Juss's POVThe weather had never felt so cold in my life. I staggered into my room and sat on the bed, willing myself not to cry but the tears were already blurring my vision. How could Marco have done this to me? After all these years we had spent together. I thought he loved me but clearly, that wasn't the case. After I caught him cheating on me, he didn't even have the decency to chase me down and apologize to me.Why did this keep happening to me? He was not the first man to break my heart this way. I thought with the others that it was because we hadn't been as intimate mentally as we had been physically but that was not the case with Marco. We’d been together for so long that I was convinced he was the one. Now, I don't know anymore.I stood up and went to the mirror, scrutinizing my tear-streaked reflection. Something was wrong with me. It had to be me! I wanted to run away from myself. I needed time to think.Going into the bathroom, I wiped off the mascara from my face, the
Eggust’s POV I stared at the girls on the bed in front of me as we intertwined our bodies together, their moans almost like a storm and movements gentle, just the way I liked. It was as if we acted out a scene that I had already played in my head, doing exactly what I wanted without me having to say a single word. They knew just how to please me, I made sure of that. They weren’t my usual type, but they would make do for now. I got off on fucking women that looked just like her, because that the was the closest I got to her. I used to be a part of her world, but somehow she shut me out completely. I missed the bond we once shared, the way she looked at me and saw right through me. What existed between us was volatile, she made me feel like a liquid in a container bursting with joy. I had hoped my newly acquired toys would give me a bit of that feeling. I had told them once how I expected them to behave and they, my perfect little lambs, knew not to disobey or not act acc
