~DAHLIAZayden left the hospital a few days after he woke up.I was with him when he was discharged, and as we drove home, I could not help but stare at him.He was alive. He was alive and well, and he wasn't going to die."Are you going to watch me all through the drive?" he asked, and I shrugged before turning back to face the road."I just...you're alive. You're alive and well. It's so..." I trailed off, the words dying in my throat."You can look at me all you want when you get home, so please face the road and get us home safely. Unless you want me to drive?"I rolled my eyes at him."You're not driving in this condition. Just shut up and stop distracting me," I snapped lightly. He chuckled and said nothing else, leaning back on his seat and saying nothing else.Comfortable silence stretched between us.After my totally unplanned proposal a~ZAYDENI was in the middle of a meeting when my phone rang. My eyes automatically flashed to the screen, and I wasn't entirely surprised to see that Dahlia was the one calling me. Now that things were good between us, we have enough rapport and good communication. And as much as I wanted to pick the call and listen to her tell me about whatever has delighted her, which was what she did all the time, this was also a very important meeting. So I flipped the phone on the table, in a bid to avoid being distracted by her calls, and turned my focus back on the meeting. But mere minutes later, a sharp knock sounded on the door of the conference room, and Leo walked in. My brows furrowed into a frown. My personal assistant knew better than to interrupt a meeting, especially one as important as this one. For him to be here right now meant that there was something very urgent going on and my attention was needed.
~ZAYDENI was in the office when Leo brought me the news. "Apologies, my Lord. But it seems as if Edda covered her tracks pretty well this time. My men have been searching far and wide, and we can't find her."A sharp wave of irritation hit me at his words. I slowly placed the document I was reading on the desk before raising my head up to meet his gaze. "I think I am going to consider firing you, to be honest," I stated calmly. Surprise flashed across his face for an instant, but it disappeared as soon as it appeared. His expression settled back into the usual calm outlook, and he bowed before he responded. "Apologies, my Lord. My sincere apologies. I will double the men searching and leave no stone unturned," he stated reassuringly.I said nothing as I held his gaze, waiting to see when he would crack. Leo had always been calm. Always. But beneath that calm exterior, there was a man there. And I wanted to see how l

~EDDAMy nerves were jittery as I waited for Zayden to reply. I knew it was a kind of a long stretch to expect him to respond to my text message, but a part of me was holding out hope. I mean, Dahlia, in her anger against me, would have told him about my sneaky visits. Obviously. And while she might see it as me breaking the rule and disobeying his law, Zayden had to see my real intention behind doing what I did, right? He had to see that I broke the law just to see him. And if he didn't understand how much he meant to me then, if he didn't see that I would do anything for him just because I love him, then he was as blind as that stupid woman cosplaying as his Luna. My feet tapped nervously against the floor as I waited, and when minutes passed without a response from him, my heart fell. Zayden wasn't going to reply. Angry tears sprang into my eyes, and I bit back a groan of frustration. What would it cost him to take my side
~ZAYDEN"Let's get married."Dahlia's voice was resolute, and there was no mistaking the resolve in her eyes. I slightly pulled back from her hold, wanting to hold her gaze completely. "Are you sure?" I asked, and she nodded once. "Yes I am. I know I said we needed time to think about it and all of that, but I...I lied. I was mad at you and I didn't want to get married to you so my original plan was to delay it as much as possible. At least until you got the message without me having to spell it out for you," she stated. Dahlia's gaze filled with tears as she spoke, and she swallowed a lump as she paused. I took her hands in mine, my touch soft and gentle. "I understand. Are you absolutely sure that this is what you want though? I asked. I needed to be sure. I needed to know that she was saying all of these because she really wanted us to get married, and not because she was caught in the moment.
~DAHLIAWatching Edda's face turn pale with fear gave me immense satisfaction. Blood drained from her face, and she stared at me with her jaw hanging open. "You're kidding, right? You are not even the Alpha, and the guards don't submit to you. Is this another one of your ploys to make me believe you're more than you are?" she quipped, trying to sound brave. But I heard the underlying quiver of fear in her voice. I schooled my expression into one of neutrality as I stepped even closer to her."I am not trying to make you believe anything, Edda. You don't have to believe me," I deadpanned, and turned to face the guards. I was about to give the order on how to deal with her when she interrupted me. "Fine. Have me killed. That will make you happy, will it not? Just fucking kill me and be done with it. But when you're alone, Dahlia. When you have no one to put up a show for, I want you to think. I want you to remember ho
