Chapter 3

The man in the driver\'s seat was surprised.

The man gave him a neurotic look, his lips moved, and he said four words, \"Then get a taxi!\"

  ...

When Joanna returned to the community, her heart was pounding.

After calming down, she regretted her actions. Just then, the first thought that came to her mind was that the car was too expensive and she couldn\'t afford it.

She ran away without even thinking about it.

She didn’t know how the car crashed and whether there were any casualties...

She stayed outside for a while, dazed, before going inside. When she got home, Richie was taking a shower in the bathroom.

Richie came down after she put the box lunches that she bought back neatly.

Joanna covered his hair on his forehead, with a smile on his face, got up to help him pull the chair away.

\"It was too late. There were so many dishes in the supermarket, so I went to the restaurant and ordered out. I tried it and it tasted good.\"

Richie ignored her and passed her to sit on the other side.

Joanna squeezed the handle of the chair slightly, then sat down in the other side and picked up the chopsticks.

Richie took two bites, frowned suddenly, then turned his head and spit out the food in his mouth into the trash can next to him.

With a gloomy face, he picked up the cup and rinsed his mouth.

  \"Isn\'t it delicious?\"

Joanna took a bite of the food he had just eaten, chewed it, her face changed slightly and spoke while apologizing.

\"I already said not to put onion and ginger, maybe the chef forgot.\"

As she said so, she stood up and took away his chopsticks, \"Don\'t eat, I\'ll repack one again.\"

Richie avoided her hand and looked at her sarcastically, \"Don\'t bother, look at you, everything I eat tastes the same.\"

After speaking, he kicked off the stool and turned to leave upstairs.

Joanna held the chopsticks, ridiculously like a fool.

The last trace of blood on her face faded away.

She felt doomed, all the usual feelings she had seemingly worsened.

Joanna sat at the dining table with red eyes. She couldn\'t cry in front of Richie, not even once.

She chose this road herself, even if it was grasping the knife’s edge. And she would have to live with it and finish it with tears in her eyes.

After she had calmed down, she went to the kitchen to heat a glass of milk to serve it.

Richie was lying on the bed playing with his mobile phone. He didn’t even bother to look up when he heard the door opening.

Joanna walked over and put the milk by the bedside table, and said in a low voice, \"If you’re hungry, I\'ll call-order some takeaway.\"

Richie\'s eyes suddenly changed when he saw the cup of milk.

He raised his head, looked at Joanna with a cold expression, and said sarcastically, \"How many doses of medicine did you put in today? I\'m ready for it.\"

Joanna pursed his lips and said nothing.

Richie refused to let her go. He sat up and took the milk, and said every word, \"I just want you to know that even if I am unconscious, I will never touch you.\"

With insulting remarks, Joanna did not have any right to refute, because what Richie said were all facts.

How sad and ridiculous was a wife that needed to drug her husband to complete the relationship between husband and wife.

She raised her eyes and stared at his handsome cheeks, she suddenly grabbed the cup in his hand, raised her head and drank it.

Richie\'s eyes changed slightly but he remained silent.

Joanna put the empty cup on the table, her throat moved as she said dumbly, \"Go to bed early.\"

She went to the closet and took a set of pajamas and went to the bathroom.

A trace of surprise appeared in Richie\'s eyes yet his expression remained obscure. In the end, he put his hands under his head and slowly closed his eyes.

The hot water in the bathroom was rushing and the mirror was covered with a white film of mist.

Joanna gently wiped the water droplets off her body, took a handful of water, and wiped the white mist off the mirror. The water droplets slid down from the mirror, slowly revealing the shadow on her face.

Her long wet hair sticks to her cheeks and the fumigation of water vapor makes the originally fair skin reflect a light glow, which was particularly beautiful.

She is very thin, as can be seen from her raised collarbone, but this did not affect her proud figure. It was as if the Creator had been extraordinarily generous to this woman.

Joanna moved her hair in front of her forehead. The bruise she got there earlier had already turned a little blue. She reached out and touched it, her brows flinching at the pain.

After a while, she picked up the hair dryer to dry out her hair. She covered the bruise on the forehead with her bangs before putting on her pajamas.

Richie had already closed his eyes, seeming to be asleep. Fearing that she would make noises, Joanna went to bed with as little and light movements as she can. But when she turned off the light, Richie went on to open his eyes.

  \"Sorry, I disturbed you.\" she said.

Her voice was very soft, just like she had done a great mistake. Even when doing nothing wrong, she reluctantly played the thoughtful and sensible wife.
