I could still feel my knees shaking, and it even got worse as we walked for a few more minutes until we finally saw the ICU the nurse was talking about.

Outside the ICU were police officers who were waiting, and I thought they were the ones who brought my mother here and who would guard her.

There were also some doctors who were taking care of my mother, and one of them was talking to a police officer who, I thought, had a high rank based on the badge and stars on his uniform.

"Doc, the victims' relatives are here," the officer said.

The two stopped talking when they heard the male nurse who was with us speak. Later, both of them looked towards our direction.

"How is Mama?" I immediately asked the doctor who was taking care of Mama. I was nervous. I also felt the stinging sensation in my eyes from crying too much.

The doctor faced me, "She's fine."

I breathed a deep sigh of relief. I felt as if I had just released a thousand thorns that were stuck in my heart.
