Betty's POV

The scent trail was right there. Fresh. Leading into the forest like a breadcrumb trail left by someone who wanted to be followed. Or someone who got careless. Either way, I was not about to let it go cold.

"We follow it. Right now."

Damon turned to me with that expression I had memorized by now. The one that meant he was about to say no.

"It could be a trap."

"It could also be our only chance to find Travis before tomorrow."

"Betty, think about this for a second."

"I have been thin

Damon's POVThe moment the scout finished his report, I called everyone into the main room. No delays. No waiting until morning. This was the kind of information that changed everything if we moved fast enough.Everyone gathered quickly. Blaze leaned against the far wall with his arms crossed. Colt sat near the table. Selena and Lucien stood by the door. Scouts filled the rest of the room. Nobody looked relaxed because nobody was."Travis entered Vance's territory three hours ago," I started. "Not through the back routes. Not smuggled in. He walked through the main entrance."Blaze frowned. "That's stupid even for him.""Unless he has a reason."Colt leaned forward. "What kind of reason?""That's what I want to figure out." I spread the scout reports across the table. "According to our sources, Travis didn't go in like a subordinate. He went in like someone who had something to offer."The room got quiet. I could feel everyone processing the same question I had been turning over in my

CHAPTER 119Betty's POVI woke up sore and exhausted. My body ached from yesterday and my head felt heavy from everything we found at the archive. The enemy knew about the baby now. That thought sat in my chest like a stone the moment I opened my eyes.I dragged myself out of bed and went downstairs to find all three of them already huddled over maps and reports. Damon was pointing at routes. Colt was on the phone with scouts. Blaze was cleaning weapons at the table like it was a Sunday hobby.I moved toward the table. "What's the plan?"Damon didn't even look up. "We're handling it. You should eat something and rest."There it was.I tried again. "I can help with the northern route. I remember what Lucien showed us about the terrain."Colt put his phone down and gave me that look. The soft, careful, she's-fragile look. "Betty, we got this. Just take it easy today."Blaze didn't say anything but he glanced at my stomach and then back at his gun. That was his version of agreeing with t

For weeks. While we sat in that safe house discussing plans that never happened. The trail is right here, Damon. Right in front of us."He rubbed his jaw and looked toward the tree line. I could see the exhaustion pulling at his face. Dark circles under his eyes. Tension lining his shoulders. He looked like a man who hadn't slept properly in a month. Because he hadn't.I looked at Colt next. Same thing. His usual calm energy felt stretched thin, like rubber about to snap. Even B

Blaze's POVI knew it. I knew this would happen. The moment the scout finished talking, the entire room turned into controlled chaos. Wolves scrambled for weapons. Phones started ringing. Damon was already barking orders at people before the scout even caught his breath. But all I could think was one thing. We wasted too much time.Weeks of sitting around, planning, arguing, debating every little move while Vance kept building his army and pushing closer. I told them. I told them every single time. And every single time, someone had a reason to wait. Now we had no time left."Blaze." Colt was standing beside me. "Stop grinding your teeth.""I'm not grinding my teeth.""You are. I can hear it from here."I ignored him and watched Damon move through the room, assigning positions, calling scouts, organizing the pack like some kind of machine. He was good at this part. The leadership part. The structure and planning. But that was exactly the problem. We had been planning when we should ha

BETTY POVThe ride back to the safe house felt longer than usual. Nobody talked much. Damon drove while Colt sat beside him and Blaze rode ahead of us on his bike. Every time I looked through the windshield, he seemed to be pushing the speed limit a little more. Nobody was thinking about the archive anymore or about old records, hidden rooms, or mysterious symbols. We were thinking about Vance. About the army he was building. About Lana. About Travis. About the fact that in three days they would all be gathered together in one place. We weren't chasing clues. We finally knew where the enemy was. The moment we reached the safe house, Damon called an emergency meeting. Within twenty minutes the dining room was packed. Maps covered the table. Phones rang constantly. Wolves moved in and out of the room carrying reports. The atmosphere felt tense before anyone even started speaking."We should act now," Blaze said.Damon didn't even look up from the map. "No."Blaze folded his arms. "We kn

DAMON POVThe moment the footsteps reached the staircase, every wolf in the room went still. Nobody spoke. Nobody needed to. Blaze was already moving toward the entrance while Colt stepped in front of Betty. Lucien shoved the nearest box of records farther into the room and grabbed another. If we came all this way only to lose these documents, I was going to lose my mind. The footsteps stopped. Then a voice echoed from above."Found them."Gunfire exploded through the archive."DOWN!" I roared.Everyone dropped instantly as bullets slammed into the stone walls. Dust filled the air. Betty hit the floor beside Colt while Blaze launched himself up the staircase.A scream followed. Then another. Then silence. For about three seconds."Blaze?" Betty shouted."I'm fine!"A body came flying down the stairs. Thankfully it was not Blaze. One of the attackers. The man crashed into the wall hard enough to knock himself unconscious.Colt cursed. "He's enjoying himself.""Obviously."More gunfire
