LOGINBetty's POV
He stopped abruptly and broke the kiss, pulling back like he’d been burned.
We were both just staring at each other, panting with this huge “what the fuck did we just do?” hanging in the air between us.
His hand which had been cupping my breast through my shirt jerked away like he’d been holding a live grenade.
“Shit. Betty, I'm..,” he started with his voice in a low and rough rasp.
I didn't let him finish though.. I grabbed his wrist and he looked down at my hand then back at my face with his eyes dark and confused.
I didn't say a word. I just guided his hand back to my breast and held it there. I gave a tiny desperate nod. Yes. This. I want this.
That was all the permission he needed.
He crashed back into me with his kiss fiercer this time with all hesitation gone. One hand squeezed my breast while the other slid down to grab my ass, pulling me flush against him. I could feel how hard he was and a thrill shot straight through me.
We stumbled backward until my knees hit the old couch and I fell back, pulling him down on top of me. His weight was amazingly solid and safe and I wrapped my legs around his waist, holding him there.
“Get this off,” I muttered, tugging at his leather cut and the t-shirt underneath.
He didn't need telling twice. He sat back, yanking the shirt over his head in one quick motion and my breath hitched. Jesus. Travis was soft around the middle and Colt was all strong muscles and tattoos like a landscape of hard lines and scars too. Then his hands were on the hem of my top.
“This okay?” He asked.
“Just rip the damn thing if you have to,” I whispered desparetly.
He didn't rip it but he got it off me fast enough. The cool air hit my skin and then his hot gaze followed as he just stared for a second, taking in my chest.
“Fuck, Betty,” he whispered with the words full of awe.
Then his hands were on me, cupping my breasts with his thumbs brushing over my nipples.
I arched into his touch with a soft moan escaping my lips while he dipped his head with his mouth closing over one peak and I saw stars.
His tongue swirled and teased and heat pooled low in my belly. Travis never… he just never did this. It was like Colt was speaking a language my body had been waiting its whole life to hear.
His other hand slid down my stomach, slipping past the waistband of my jeans. I was wet, embarrassingly and desperately wet and when his fingers found my clit, I cried out.
“Colt…“
“Right here, darlin',” he murmured against my skin with his voice gravelly.
My own hands were frantic, fumbling with the buckle of his belt and I got his jeans open with my fingers diving inside to wrap around his cock. He was huge and rock hard and he groaned deeply in a sound that went straight to my core.
I was tugging at his jeans, trying to get them down when the cabin door flew open with a bang that shook the whole damn room and we froze.
Standing in the doorway, backlit by the moon were Damon and Blaze!
Damon’s eyebrows shot up so high they nearly disappeared into his hairline.. but Blaze… shit. Blaze’s face was of pure fury.. and all of it was directed at me.
Colt moved like lightning.. he was off me and on his feet in a blink, pulling his jeans up and shoving himself back in, positioning himself between me and the door. I scrambled to cover myself with my arms with my face burning with shame and anger.
“Blaze, Damon… it's not what it..,” Colt started but Blaze cut him off.
“What the fuck do you think you're doing, Colt?” Blaze’s voice was low, deadly calm and a thousand times more terrifying than if he’d been screaming.
“Let me explain,” Colt said with his voice steady but tight. “Just… outside. Let's talk outside,”
He gestured toward the porch and Damon gave me one last unreadable look then turned and walked out.
Blaze didn't move for a long second with his angry eyes locked on me like he wanted to strangle me with his stare. Finally, he turned and followed Colt out, slamming the door shut behind him.
The second they were gone, I slumped back on the couch with my whole body trembling.
I could hear their voices outside low and urgent but I couldn't make out the words. It was just a rumble of anger and then one word cut through the murmur so sharp and clear.
“…Luna…“
Luna? What the hell was a Luna? Was that a person? Some code word?
Then it got quiet.. too quiet.
My unease turned into a full-blown panic. Where’d they go? Did they just leave? Did they take Colt?
I had to look.. I pulled my shirt back on with my hands shaking and crept to the door. I cracked it open just an inch and peeked out.
The porch was empty.
What the hell? I pushed the door open a little wider and stepped out into the cool night air.
“Colt?” I whispered into the darkness. “Damon?”
Nothing came.. just the sound of the wind in the trees.
A twig snapped to my left and I spun around with my heart leaping into my throat.
The woods were pitch black and so I squinted, trying to see. Was that a shadow moving?
“Hello?” I called out with my voice sounding small and scared.
A sudden movement to my left made me turn abruptly but boy that was a very big mistake..!
I opened my mouth and a pure terrifying scream forced its way out of me, tearing through the silent night…!
BETTY POVThe ride back to the safe house felt longer than usual. Nobody talked much. Damon drove while Colt sat beside him and Blaze rode ahead of us on his bike. Every time I looked through the windshield, he seemed to be pushing the speed limit a little more. Nobody was thinking about the archive anymore or about old records, hidden rooms, or mysterious symbols. We were thinking about Vance. About the army he was building. About Lana. About Travis. About the fact that in three days they would all be gathered together in one place. We weren't chasing clues. We finally knew where the enemy was. The moment we reached the safe house, Damon called an emergency meeting. Within twenty minutes the dining room was packed. Maps covered the table. Phones rang constantly. Wolves moved in and out of the room carrying reports. The atmosphere felt tense before anyone even started speaking."We should act now," Blaze said.Damon didn't even look up from the map. "No."Blaze folded his arms. "We kn
DAMON POVThe moment the footsteps reached the staircase, every wolf in the room went still. Nobody spoke. Nobody needed to. Blaze was already moving toward the entrance while Colt stepped in front of Betty. Lucien shoved the nearest box of records farther into the room and grabbed another. If we came all this way only to lose these documents, I was going to lose my mind. The footsteps stopped. Then a voice echoed from above."Found them."Gunfire exploded through the archive."DOWN!" I roared.Everyone dropped instantly as bullets slammed into the stone walls. Dust filled the air. Betty hit the floor beside Colt while Blaze launched himself up the staircase.A scream followed. Then another. Then silence. For about three seconds."Blaze?" Betty shouted."I'm fine!"A body came flying down the stairs. Thankfully it was not Blaze. One of the attackers. The man crashed into the wall hard enough to knock himself unconscious.Colt cursed. "He's enjoying himself.""Obviously."More gunfire
BETTY POVBy the time we reached the archive location, my nerves were completely shot. Blaze hadn't stopped checking mirrors since the gas station, Damon looked like he was preparing for war, and Colt kept pretending everything was fine even though he had checked the perimeter three different times before letting me out of the vehicle. The place didn't look like an archive. It looked abandoned.A massive stone building sat in the middle of the forest, surrounded by overgrown trees and broken walls. Parts of the roof had collapsed years ago, and vines covered almost everything.I stared up at it."This is it?"Lucien nodded."This is it.""It looks haunted.""It probably is," Blaze muttered.Damon ignored him and started giving instructions immediately."Nobody separates. Nobody wanders off. If something feels wrong, say it.""I feel wrong already," I replied. That earned a small smile from Colt."You'll fit right in."We entered through what used to be the main doorway. Dust covered e
BLAZE POVI knew we were being followed long before I found proof. Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was experience. Or probably it was because every time things started looking calm lately, somebody tried killing us. Whatever it was, I couldn't shake the feeling. The convoy had been moving for hours. Damon was leading while Colt stayed behind him. Betty was riding with Damon because, apparently, the two of them had spent half the morning arguing about archive routes before somehow turning it into one of those emotional conversations they liked having lately.I still wasn't used to Damon being the romantic one.The road stretched ahead while trees blurred past on both sides. Neutral territory wasn't far now, and that made me even more uneasy. I checked my mirror again.Same black SUV.Same distance.Same road.Still there.I reached for the communicator."Damon.""What?""Check your mirror."A few seconds passed. Then his voice came back colder. "How long?""Long enough.""That's not an
Damon’s POVThe house felt too quiet that morning, like the air itself was holding its breath, and I couldn’t stop replaying Betty’s words—her frustration, the sharp edge in her voice when she walked out earlier, because she was right. She was always right, and hiding her, controlling when she could act or move, it wasn’t keeping anyone safe — it was just delaying the inevitable, and I knew it.I stayed in the living room, map and archive notes spread across the table, trying to figure out a plan, my hand rubbing at my jaw over and over while every scenario ran like a movie in my head, each one ending with Betty or the baby hurt—or worse—and I could hear her moving in the kitchen quietly, shuffling through papers Lucien had left, muttering half to herself about the Crown Bloodline and old archives. Her concentration was sharp, deliberate, and it made my chest ache because even now, hours after her outburst, she refused to rest, refused to slow down, refused to let me keep her safe by
Damon's POV I could barely sleep at night. Every single time I closed my eyes, Betty’s nightmare played on repeat in my head. The panic all over her face. How she grabbed her stomach right away like that was the only thing that mattered. Her whole body shaking while she tried to tell us she was okay. She clearly wasn’t. By the time the sun started coming up, I gave up trying to sleep. I just couldn’t do it.I slipped out of the room quietly so I wouldn’t wake her. Outside, I found Blaze already there. A few minutes later Colt showed up carrying coffee for all of us. For a while nobody said a word. We were all wiped out. You could feel it in the air.Eventually Blaze broke the silence. “This isn’t working.”I knew exactly what he meant, but I still said, “We’re safe here.”“No, we’re hiding here,” he shot back. “Every day we’re just sitting around waiting for them to make the next move. Meanwhile Betty keeps having these dreams that are telling us they’re getting closer. I’m sick of i
