LENA’S POV

“You are absolutely not coming.” Jax snapped at me.

I crossed my arms immediately. “You brought me downstairs already. It is too late to pretend that I have options now.”

Jax looked one second away from developing another stress headache.

“That was before Dante told me the warehouse might be armed.”

Dante raised one hand calmly. “In my defense, I specifically said heavily armed.”

“Oh good,” I muttered. “That definitely sounds safer so I'm coming.”

Minutes later we were standing insi

LENA’S POVSomething was wrong with Vivienne. The feeling had lived inside my chest ever since the midnight phone call.Every smile felt rehearsed, every kindness felt calculated, and every question carried hidden blades beneath it.But now, after discovering that Blackthorn had a leak, I could not stop thinking about her.Which was exactly why I was currently following Jax’s terrifying mother through the estate hallway at one in the morning like someone auditioning for a future murder documentary.Vivienne moved quietly despite the heels. She was elegant, controlled and dangerously calm. The estate remained mostly dark around us while security lights glowed softly along the walls but I stayed far enough behind not to be noticed.Vivienne turned sharply down the east corridor afterward and my stomach tightened immediately.‘Restricted wing. Interesting.’That part of the estate remained locked most of the time, even Dante barely went there.Vivienne reached the security door and typed

Old, abandoned and definitely suspicious.Apparently that described ninety percent of our current problems lately.“We intercepted Kingshade movement there three hours ago,” Dante explained while zooming in on the building layout. “Possible weapons transfer.”“And possible trap,” Jax added co

LENA'S POVAfter three days of Jax keeping his distance and trying to pretend that I didn't exist, he finally decided that it was time for us to go somewhere. He had been watching me and I knew it. I saw how his eyes darkened when my wolf rising up to the surface. How he gave me an intense look when my eyes flashed gold. Now we were standing at the edge of the forest behind the estate when Jax said it was time. This was what I had been dreading for three weeks."Right now?" I looked at the trees stretching dark and endless ahead of us. "Tonight?""Your wolf has been pushing against you since the attack." He watched me carefully. "If you keep suppressing it, the next shift will not be controlled.""And you think now will be?""I think you are ready. You have to learn how to control your shift."The certainty in his voice was the only thing that kept me from turning around and walking straight back inside.I exhaled slowly. "What do I do?"Jax stepped closer. "Stop fighting it. That i

JAX'S POVFrom the red dot on my chest to Lena diving in to save me like a super woman all happened in under four seconds.Immediately I saw the red dot, my instinct was to move but Lena moved faster. She slammed into my side hard enough to knock the air from my chest and we hit the concrete floor together as the shot cracked through the range window above us. Glass exploded over the space where my head had been positioned one second earlier.I covered her body with mine immediately. I would rather I get shot than for anything to hurt her. Two more shots blasted the air, fast and calculated. Then silence.I stayed down for three full seconds before lifting my head. The laser was gone and the angle suggested it was a single shooter, elevated and facing the east. The window was narrow which meant that they shot from a distance. Professional.Only Kingshade can move like this. "Talk to me," I said roughly against her hair. "Are you hit?""No." Her voice came out shaky but controlled. "

LENA’S POVAs early as 4am the next morning, Jax woke me up. He threw me the kitted gear. “Time for your training.”I groaned as I put it on and followed him to the shooting range below the estate. The place was totally hidden, reinforced. Built like the people living here expected war at any moment.Honestly, they probably did because ever since I came into this home, the ones who once feared became fearless. The heavy steel doors opened and a sharp scent of gunpowder hit me immediately. My stomach tightened slightly and Jax noticed.“You nervous?”I crossed my arms instantly. “No.”“You are clenching your jaw.”“I hate that you notice things.” I snapped. One corner of his mouth twitched faintly before he walked further inside. The underground range stretched long and dark ahead of us while security lights glowed softly across the concrete walls. The targets waiting at the opposite end were human mannequins. Of course they were. “You need proper weapons training,” Jax said calml

  • RISE OF THE BIKER QUEEN: Her protector, Her ruin   CHAPTER THIRTY THREE

LENA’S POVThat morning when Dante came to my room and said it's time to return home, I didn't know how to feel. To be honest, I've come to enjoy it when it's just me, Jax and Him. There were less guards, less drama, just meetings and fun activities. I guess all that is about to change now. Dante drove us home with the rest of the gang driving their bikes behind us like our bodyguards. The estate we drove into still remained the same. It looked less like a home and more like a military compound.Tall black gates surrounded the property completely while armed guards patrolled every visible corner. Cameras rotated slowly above the walls and thick steel barriers blocked the main entrance like they were preparing for war instead of welcoming family home.Maybe they were. The second our vehicle approached the gates, security lights flooded the driveway and scanners swept across the car.“Comforting,” I muttered.Beside me, Jax did not even glance up from his phone. “You get used to it.”
