Kira’s POV

At 6:00 AM, the sun had risen over the city skyline, flooding the Lockwood penthouse with a brilliant golden light.

I hadn’t slept a wink. The ruins of my silk gown were crumpled in the corner of the master bathroom, replaced by a dark turtleneck and cargo pants.

I was standing at the wall of monitors in the study, my fingers flying across the keys as I pulled up every public and private schematic of the Peterson Private Hospital.

Aziel stood beside me, a steaming mug of black coffe

  • Rebirth of the Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Reunion

Kira’s POVThe new penthouse wasn't beyond exquisite.Perched at the very top of a monolithic skyscraper in Midtown, it had been purchased through one of my deepest offshore shell companies hours after the vault was opened. It had no floor-to-ceiling windows to invite sniper fire. It was all reinforced steel, smart-glass, and breathtaking luxury.Kael’s street soldiers guarded the lobby downstairs, alongside Silas’s elite tactical security protocols. We were finally safe. The doors of the master suite clicked shut, locking the rest of the world out and leaving me and Aziel all to ourselves. The first time in a while when we weren’t in survival mode.I stood in the center of the bedroom. The contrast between this room and the freezing, rotting safehouse in the Narrows was staggering. There were plush Persian rugs beneath my feet, a massive king-sized bed draped in black silk, and the quiet hum of central heating. But as I looked at Aziel, standing by the edge of the bed in his tailored

Kira’s POVSpecial Agent Thomas Ridge looked like a man on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The glass walls of his office at the FBI field in lower Manhattan were plastered with crime scene photos. The burning wreckage of the federal transport on the bridge. The bloodbath at the railyard. The bodies of highly trained European mercenaries piled in the mud.Ridge was screaming into his desk phone, demanding answers from his tactical units, when the glass doors of his office swung open without a knock.Ridge’s head snapped up, his hand instinctively dropping to the sidearm on his hip. "What the hell—"He stopped completely dead.I had changed out of the soot-stained clothes smelling of alley water. I stepped into the federal office wearing a flawless, tailored white designer suit, my hair perfectly styled, and a diamond tennis bracelet resting elegantly on my wrist. I walked smoothly across the carpet and took a seat in one of the leather chairs opposite his desk, crossing my legs."Go

  • Rebirth of the Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Fleeing

The wind whipping across the private tarmac at Tsavarev Airport tasted of jet fuel and desperation.Roshan stood at the base of the sleek, silver Gulfstream’s airstairs stripped of his aristocratic composure. He was furiously barking orders in French at his remaining security detail. He had watched the news. He knew the cartel commander had been executed in the railyards, and he knew the hit squads had been completely wiped out by some street militia. He was running. The twin engines of the jet whined, spooling up for an emergency takeoff. Roshan grabbed the handrail, his knuckles white, ready to flee the city he had arrogantly tried to conquer. But he never made it up the stairs. From the darkness at the edge of the runway, six heavily armored, brand-new tactical SUVs roared onto the tarmac. They completely boxed the Gulfstream in, their blinding LED high beams pinning Roshan against the fuselage of his own plane.Roshan’s security detail immediately raised their weapons, but it was

Kira’s POVThe rain had finally stopped, but the Manhattan skyline was still choking on thick, acrid smoke. We stood in the shadows of an alley across the street from Aurelia Holdings, or what was left of it. The majestic glass tower that had once pierced the clouds was now a hollow, blackened carcass. The lobby was completely blown out, the steel support beams twisted like melted wax. Dozens of NYPD cruisers formed a flashing red-and-blue barricade around the perimeter, their spotlights cutting through the fog."They have the upper floors cordoned off," Silas noted, pulling the collar of his damp coat up against the biting wind. "But the sub-basements should be clear. The fire department won't risk sending men down there until the foundation is stabilized.""Then we move fast," Aziel said.He reached out, his calloused fingers wrapping firmly around my hand. He was still wearing the black tactical shirt from the railyard, moving with a slight stiffness from his stitched ribs, but his

  • Rebirth of the Billionaire’s Substitute Bride   Commander

Kira’s POVBefore the first cartel bullet could cut through the downpour, Aziel grabbed the collar of my jacket, dragging me behind the wheel of an overturned freight car. He shielded my body with his own, pressing his back against the rusted iron as a hail of lead tore through the wood above our heads."Stay down!" he roared over the gunfire."I have a clear line to their flank!" I yelled back, pulling my Glock from my waist."Not while they have heavy caliber!" Aziel stepped out from behind the wheel, leveling his shotgun and firing with precision. Every blast from his weapon kicked like a cannon, dropping the Silencers who scrambled behind the open doors of their SUVs.Across the tracks, Kael’s street soldiers unleashed fury. They obviously didn't have the kind of training the Silencers had, but they had sheer numbers, vicious rage, and an intimate knowledge of the terrain. Molotov cocktails arced through the black sky, exploding against the hood of the lead SUV in a burst of roar

Kira’s POVThe locker room beneath the fighting pits smelled of rust and iodine.I stood in front of Aziel, my hands covered in his blood for the second time in twenty-four hours, re-stitching the tear in his side. He didn't make a sound as the needle pierced his skin, but his jaw was clenched so tight the muscles ticked in his cheek.Outside the door, Kael and two hundred of the Narrows’ most violent street soldiers were arming themselves with everything they could find. We had our army. Now, we just needed a war."The Silencers are moving in a grid," I said softly, tying off the final stitch and pressing a fresh square of gauze to his ribs. "They are sweeping the district, but they have too much ground to cover. If we engage them block by block, we’ll take heavy casualties. We need to cut off the head of the snake."Aziel pulled a black tactical shirt over his head, wincing slightly. "Their commander. If we take him down, the hit squads lose their coordination. But he’s surrounded b

The rain was lashing against the windshield violently, sounding like handfuls of gravel being thrown against the glass. The mountain road was entirely dark, illumina

Kira’s POVI could not stop thinking about the shattered crystal on the floor. I paced the length of my massive bedroom in the Lockwood mansion. Kira’s POVThe chaos of the ballroom was finally left behind, replaced by the choking silence of the hotel’s executive lounge. Two lawyers stood nervously beside a polished table. Kira’s POV The grand ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel was a sea of white roses. Thousands of blooms hung from the crystal chandeliers, their sweet scent masking the toxic reality of the room. The hall was packed to capacity. Rows of velvet chairs were filled with the city's most powerful business
