Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: uni
The dragons certainly lived up to their reputation as a proud, ancient power. A mere engagement ceremony was executed with staggering opulence.

Dozens of elite factions had gathered to bear witness, bearing mountains of rare treasures to show their utmost respect.

Clara made her grand entrance under the expectant gazes of the crowd. Draped in a brilliant crimson bridal gown, her cheeks flushed with excitement as she held Kail’s hand.

She had finally secured the position of her dreams. Pure ecstasy radiated from her.

When her eyes found me in the crowd, she tilted her head provocatively. Her lips moved, mouthing a silent, two-word insult:

“You loser.”

Fine. Let me be a loser.

She was about to step straight into a living hell anyway. I wondered which of us would look more pathetic by the end of it.

Her triumphant smile didn't last long. Kail soon thrust a goblet into her hands.

"Drink," he commanded, his voice echoing through the hall. "Drink, and our betrothal becomes law under the eyes of the Elders."

Clara took the goblet eagerly, intending to down it in one go. But as she brought it close, a volatile, suffocating heat flared from the liquid. The wine churned violently, glowing with a faint, ominous crimson light.

Clara gasped, her face draining of color. Instinctively, she knocked the goblet away.

"There's dragonfire in this wine!" she shrieked.

It was Hellfire Brew—an ancient concoction infused with a dragon's own primal breath. Drinking it was akin to swallowing liquid coal. Even a battle-hardened warrior would be left bedridden for months after a single cup. For human women with fragile constitutions like ours, it was a torment worse than death.

In my past life, I had faced the exact same trial. But I hadn't even thought of refusing.

I knew my life was worthless compared to the pride of the Dragon Clan. If I humiliated Kail in public, our relationship would never be anything more than a cold, transactionary arrangement.

So, I had braced myself and swallowed it. Throughout the entire ceremony, my internal organs felt like they were being incinerated from the inside out.

And Kail hadn't cared. To him, I was a political tool meant for breeding. Who cares about a tool’s feelings?

Clara, however, clearly failed to understand her new reality. Pouting her lips, she threw herself into Kail’s arms, throwing a tantrum.

"I don't want to drink that!"

She failed to notice Kail’s expression darkening. Aware of the hundreds of high-profile guests watching, he forced himself to maintain a shred of patience, leaning down to soothe her.

"Clara, this is an ancient dragon tradition. Everyone is watching. Don't be childish."

For a crown prince of the Dragon Clan to lower his voice like that was a massive concession. Clara should have taken the cue and swallowed her pride.

Instead, utterly blind to the escalating danger, she pushed further.

"I don't care about your stupid traditions! I’m human! How am I supposed to withstand dragonfire? I don't ever want to see it again!"

Those words sealed her fate.

The Dragon Elders in the front rows stiffened, fury flashing in their eyes.

To the dragons, consuming the Hellfire Brew was the ultimate symbol of loyalty and submission. For a bride to swallow the flame meant she was willing to burn herself to ash for the glory of the clan. Clara’s public rejection was a direct slap to their collective faces.

Whispers immediately broke out among the dragon nobility. They openly murmured about the new bride's utter lack of decorum, instantly questioning Kail’s judgment in choosing her.

As the criticism reached Kail’s ears, his remaining patience evaporated. His voice dropped to a freezing, menacing register.

"I will not say it again. Drink it."

Clara froze, utterly stunned by his sudden shift in tone. Panic setting in, she snatched a fresh goblet from a servant's tray and choked the fiery liquid down.

The moment the scalding wine hit her throat, her face turned dead white. Her knees buckled. She only managed to stay upright by violently clenching her jaw, her entire body trembling.

But the damage was done. The festive mood of the banquet had been thoroughly ruined.

The moment the formal vows were concluded, Kail swept out of the hall without casting a single glance back at his new fiancé.

Clara stood frozen in the center of the room, completely lost. Just yesterday, they had been wrapped in passionate whispers. How could a single cup of wine turn him into a total stranger?

Clutching her chest, she fought back the burning agony tearing through her throat. She stared at the empty doorway where Kail had disappeared, her eyes burning with resentment and disbelief.

I let out a quiet, mocking breath.

She was so incredibly naive.

To a dragon, nothing mattered more than pride. A trophy bride meant to decorate his court actually thought she had the power to dictate a prince's will.

This was barely the prologue. Her "happily ever after" was about to get a lot more interesting.

  • Reborn:The Dragon Queen No More   Chapter 10

From start to finish, this child was the absolute definition of a blessing. He hadn't subjected my body to a shred of torture during the pregnancy, and the delivery itself was so incredibly smooth it felt like a dream. As I stared down at the tiny creature wrapped in a radiant, golden aura, blinking up at me with a pair of brilliant, molten-gold reptilian slits, a wave of disbelief washed over me.The moment Dante saw the child draw his first breath, the fierce grin on his face never faded. He had spent half his life drifting in exile, never daring to dream of a family of his own. Now that his deepest desires had been granted, he looked entirely awestruck. The news of my delivering a pure-blood royal heir traveled through the dragon factions like wild fire.Unlike Clara's disaster, this child was the undeniable, untainted blood of the first Queen's line. When the ancient Dragon King arrived to inspect his new grandson, he smiled so widely his stoic facade completely cracked. In that si

Clara never could have anticipated this total collapse of her grand ambitions. She had no time to dodge. The broadsword cleaved mercilessly down, tearing a massive chunk of flesh from her shoulder. The agonizing impact sent her collapsing back into the bloodied sheets. Her eyes were bloodshot, filled with a wild, desperate disbelief as she shrieked her demand:"Why are you doing this to me?! I walked right to death's door to give you a son! And you try to murder me?!"Kail let out a harsh, mocking laugh, gesturing at her like she was a diseased animal."My son? You treacherous bitch, do you have any idea that every royal dragon born into this line possesses molten-gold reptilian slits? Never blue eyes! You dared to bring a bastard into my court!"Clara had been entirely ignorant of royal dragon biology. The realization hit her like a physical blow, leaving her trembling and cowering in the corner of the bed. Then, her eyes scanned past Kail's shoulder. She spotted me standing in the sh

The day Clara went into labor, the chambers were packed so tightly with Dragon Elders that not a single drop of water could have slipped through.Because Clara had bragged to anyone with ears that she was about to deliver a pure-blood heir, the entire Dragon Clan had been put on high alert. Even the ancient Dragon King, who hadn't stepped foot out of his secluded sanctuary in decades, arrived in person.Kail was pacing furiously outside the heavy oak doors, looking as if he wanted to tear through the wood and drag the child out himself. The air was thick with static anticipation. Everyone was ready to welcome the next supreme ruler of the dragon race.Inside, Clara’s screams grew shriller and more frantic, before slowly dying down into a weak, ragged wheeze. Her body was simply too fragile. Bearing a dragon fetus was less of a delivery and more of a violent, physical transmutation. In my past life, I had blacked out from the sheer agony multiple times before the child finally came. Cla

Clara’s belly grew to a terrifying, unnatural size, yet her body withered away by the day.Despite her physical ruin, a fanatical, feverish light burned in her eyes. The more violently the fetus thrashed inside her, the more ecstatic she became. To her, the agony was proof that she was carrying a colossal, unbreakable dragon heir. This single pregnancy was her ticket to absolute, lifelong power. She had completely lost her mind. Every single night, she huddled over her massive stomach, stroking the stretched skin as she muttered to herself."My beautiful baby... you are going to make mother so proud. The moment you are born, that throne belongs to me. No one will ever look down on us again. No one!"Every time she swallowed the "secret recipe" I provided, a fleeting, artificial radiance would flush her cheeks, and the fetus would begin to kick with a feral intensity.Convinced I had handed her a miracle cure, she unilaterally increased the dosage. One dose a day became three.Whenever

The sound of his voice instantly triggered a rush of vivid, tangled memories from that night. I spun around, violently taking a step back.It was him. The stranger from the gardens. He smiled down at me, looking at me as if I were a harmless little creature trapped in his sights.Panic seizing me, I lunged forward and slammed my hand over his mouth. "Are you insane?!" I hissed, my voice a frantic whisper. "What are you doing here? This is the Keep of the Dragon’s Maw! You can’t just stroll around. If the guards catch you, you're dead!"He didn't resist. Instead, a softness crept into his gaze as he looked down at my hand."And what are you doing here then?" he asked, pulling my hand away gently. "Seeking a death warrant?"I rolled my eyes, taking a moment to study him properly.I searched my memories of my past life, but I was certain this man had never belonged to the court back then. Satisfied he wasn't a threat, I grabbed his sleeve and pulled him along down the corridor, speaking a

  • Reborn:The Dragon Queen No More   Chapter 5

By the time I officially felt the stirrings of the child in my womb, Clara had announced her own "pregnancy."It is a curious thing, really—men possess a truly spectacular brand of arrogance when it comes to their lineage. Kail didn't harbor a shred of suspicion. He genuinely believed that a single, fleeting visit to her chambers was all it took to successfully plant his seed.A lavish bounty of gold and priceless gems rained down upon her, and Clara finally got the grand vindication she had been suffocating for.She summoned me to her chambers, gesturing toward the glittering heaps of treasure with a smug, insufferable grin."Well? Look at this, Lena. You could struggle for a lifetime and never catch a glimpse of treasures like these. So what if you were reborn? In our past life, you just got lucky. You could never actually compete with me!"I nodded along dutifully to her face, playing the submissive sister. Inwardly, my mind was racing over my own predicament. The stranger I had enc
