Elena’s POV

The world felt strangely slow when Alex’s fingers tightened around mine, grounding me in a moment that would have sent the old me spiraling. The room was dimly lit by the golden evening sun slanting through the windows of the safehouse his coastal hideout that had become our strange sanctuary. But nothing inside me felt calm.

Not when Richard Hale’s voice still echoed in my skull.

“You’re not Elena Dawson. You were never meant to survive Project Rebirth.”

A lie.

A half-truth.

A weapon.

I didn’t know yet.

My breath shuddered, and Alex noticed instantly. Of course he did. He always did.

“Elena,” he murmured, stepping closer, his other hand lifting to brush a strand of hair from my face. “Look at me.”

I did and I hated that he could see everything. The fear. The confusion. The splintering pieces of my identity that I had fought so hard to reclaim.

“I don’t know who I am anymore,” I whispered.

His jaw tightened, sharp and protective, but his eyes softened. “You’re mine,” he sa

  • Reborn as The Billionaire's Wife   The Moment the World Stopped

(Elena’s POV)The room felt colder than it had been a second ago.Maybe it was the words I’d just heard sharp, slicing straight through my chest.Maybe it was the expression on Alex’s face: shock, anger, and something far more dangerous… fear. Not for himself. For me.“Say it again,” he demanded, his voice low, too steady to be safe. “Who was behind the second protocol?”My hands wouldn’t stop shaking.“It was… my mother.”Silence.Even the air seemed to freeze.Alex stared at me like the ground had been pulled out from beneath both of us. His breathing slowed, deepened, like he was trying to force control over a storm raging inside him.“Elena,” he said, each syllable strained, “your mother has been dead for years.”“I know.” My voice cracked. “But the files said she was alive months after my supposed death in the first life. She she signed off on the continuation of Project Rebirth.”Alex dragged a hand down his face, pacing backward, then forward, then stopping abruptly in front of

  • Reborn as The Billionaire's Wife   The Heart That Refuses to Break

(Elena’s POV)The room felt too quiet.Too still.Like the walls themselves were holding their breath, waiting for me to decide whether I would shatter… or stand.I sat on the edge of the bed, fingers tangled in the sheets, replaying Alex’s words his warning, his confession, his fear over and over until my chest ached.Everything we’d fought for… everything we’d bled for… it all felt like it was balancing on a thread. One wrong move and it would all fall apart.A soft knock broke the silence.“Elena.”His voice.Low. Rough. Barely held together.I looked up as Alexander stepped inside the room, his hair slightly damp from the rain outside, his shirt clinging to his chest. He looked exhausted like he hadn’t slept, like the world had been resting on his shoulders alone. But his eyesHis eyes were locked on me, as if the only thing he truly feared losing was standing right here.“Alex,” I whispered. He closed the door behind him and leaned back against it, exhaling like he’d been holding

  • Reborn as The Billionaire's Wife   When the Past Finally Speaks

Elena’s POVThe storm outside hadn’t stopped all night, but it was nothing compared to the storm pacing inside my chest.Alex hadn’t spoken a word since we left the underground corridor. Not when he led me into the safehouse. Not while he checked the windows. Not even now, as he stood at the far corner of the dim room with his back turned, shoulders tense and rising unevenly with every breath. He wasn’t angry. He was terrified. And that terrified me.“Alex…” I whispered. He didn’t turn. But I saw the faint tremor in his fist where it rested against the wall.“I thought I lost you,” he said quietly. “When I saw that door closing on you” His voice broke. “I I thought that was the moment I’d lose everything.”My throat tightened. This was the side of him no one ever saw. The side he tried to bury under steel and strategy.“I’m here,” I said, taking a slow step forward. “I’m alive. I didn’t leave you.”He laughed bitterly. “Not physically.”Then he finally turned. His eyes were darker tha

  • Reborn as The Billionaire's Wife   The Line We Cannot Cross

AlexanderThe storm had barely broken when I reached the old observatory rain lashing the stone walls, wind screaming as though warning me to turn back. But nothing could pull me away now. Not when Elena was inside. Not when our enemy had finally backed us into the last corner we had left.I pushed open the heavy metal door, its rusted hinges shrieking. My pulse hammered.Everything smelled of cold dust, concrete, and danger. Then I heard it her voice.“Elena?”My voice echoed back at me, swallowed by the hollow dome overhead.A faint gasp. Then a strained whisper:“Alex…?”I moved instantly, following the sound to the central chamber. The room pulsed with faint blue light from the old machinery, shadows dancing across the floor. And there she was.Elena stood bound by a thin metallic restraint at her wrist the same kind used in Project Rebirth facilities. Her hair clung to her damp skin, her eyes fierce even in exhaustion. My chest tightened painfully.I crossed the space in seconds,

  • Reborn as The Billionaire's Wife   When the Truth Finally Bleeds Through

The storm outside the safe-house raged like a warning wind howling, rain battering the metal shutters, lightning splitting the sky into jagged wounds.Alex stood by the window, shoulders tense, hands pressed against the cold steel frame as if he could fight the entire world from there. He had been silent for too long.Too still.Too controlled.Elena knew that silence now.It was the silence he fell into when he was seconds away from shattering.“Alex,” she said softly, stepping closer. “Talk to me.”He didn’t turn.Didn’t breathe.Didn’t blink.“The report you found,” he finally said, voice dangerously low. “The one buried under Project Rebirth’s archives… Elena, it wasn’t just about your past.”Her heartbeat stuttered. She’d known something was wrong when she saw the tremor in his hand, the slight shake he tried to hide.“What do you mean?” she whispered. His jaw tightened.Lightning flashed, throwing his face in harsh white light.“It means you weren’t the only target,” he said. “Y

  • Reborn as The Billionaire's Wife   He Chooses Her, Again and Again

Alexander’s POVThe storm outside the safehouse was nothing compared to the storm inside me.Elena sat on the edge of the bed, her knees drawn up, her fingers twisting the fabric of her shirt. The soft light from the lamp painted her skin gold, but her eyes God, her eyes were dimmer than I’d ever seen them.Like she was preparing herself to break.I hated it.I hated that she ever thought she needed to.“Elena,” I said quietly. She didn’t look up. “Alex… you don’t have to pretend. Not now.”My chest tightened. “Pretend what?”“That I’m not a liability.” Her voice cracked on the last word. “That everything happening around you isn’t because of me. That you aren’t… tired.”I crossed the room in three long strides and dropped to my knees before her.Her breath hitched.I took her wrists gently, lowering her hands from her face.“Elena Dawson,” I said, each word carved from something raw and real, “you are the furthest thing from a liability in my life.”She opened her mouth, probably to
