Chapter 13 Falling sick

Molly’s POV…

Lance's reaction was predictable. That was what he did every time.

I don’t know why I feel compelled to explain myself to him. My heart aches as I stare at his stiff back.

"I didn’t push her," I finally say.

He doesn’t turn back to me or try to know what actually happened. He just walks out, saying, "We will talk about it later."

His cold response brings tears to my eyes. I stand there, speechless, watching him carry her out of the café.

This scene is so familiar to me. He always chose Ruby and walked away from me. He never tried to find out my side of the story.

His anger, suspicions, and accusations are too much for me to bear.

My knees are getting weaker. I step back and sink into the chair. I don’t want to cry, I swear. This is nothing new to me. But I am not sure why I am sobbing this hard.

Ruby is not worthy of my attention. And Lance doesn’t deserve my tears.

Why am I crying so hard?

I pour myself some water and drink it, my hand shaking.
