Camille

It had been over three hours since I got home from lunch with Patrick, and I was still thinking about our conversation.

I hadn’t realized we’d become such good friends or how much I’d come to enjoy his company. We’d reached a point where he felt comfortable telling me about someone he liked, and I was glad he trusted me enough to share that part of his life.

Honestly, any woman who ended up with Patrick would be lucky. He was easygoing, fun, and sweet without trying too hard.

I smiled,

CamilleTeresa leaned closer, studying the photograph on the screen. Her expression changed immediately.“Is that you?”“Yes. Outside Evelyn’s house.”“Wait, who sent this?”“It’s from an unknown number. But here’s the follow-up message.”Teresa glanced through the message. This is weird. Why do I feel like it could be the same man from today?“That’s what I thought too. I’m glad you noticed the connection.”“Oh, my goodness. Then he’s really a creep.” She frowned, looking genuinely disturbed. “This is strange. I wonder how long he’s been doing this.”“I don’t know. That’s what worries me. He was only bold enough to come directly today, but apparently he’s been watching me for a while now.”“That’s frightening. How did he even get your number and what do you think he wants with you?”“I have no idea.”Teresa scoffed. “This isn’t normal. He needs to be reported.”“Exactly. I can’t take this lightly. First he shows up here without an appointment, admits to following me, and now he’s sen

CamilleThe first thing I noticed when I walked into the office was Teresa’s expression. She looked up from her desk, hesitated briefly, then returned her attention to the computer.“Teresa? Is there anything you’d like to tell me?”“Good morning, ma’am.”I studied her for a moment. “Good morning, Teresa.”“Someone came looking for you earlier.”“Okay. And?”“A man, actually. He didn’t have an appointment but insisted he needed to see you.”I pulled out my chair. “Did he say what it was about?”“He said it was personal.”I paused, taken aback. “Personal?”Teresa nodded. “I asked him to leave his name and contact details, but he refused. He only asked when you would be coming in.”“Did you tell him?”“I said I wasn’t sure.”“What did he look like?”“He looked like he could be in his forties. Tall, dark hair. He was wearing a grey suit.” She paused. “What was interesting was, he didn’t seem particularly pleased when I told him he couldn’t see you without an appointment.”I let out a qui

Camille“So what do you think?” I looked around the spacious living room, taking in the high ceilings and glass doors overlooking the ocean.“It’s a beautiful property,” I said. “But I think the current layout could work much harder for you. The living area feels disconnected from the terrace, and I’d like to create a more natural flow between the two spaces.”Evelyn nodded, smiling.“That’s exactly why I wanted you here. Julian thinks the house is perfect as it is, but I know something’s missing.”I smiled. “Most men think everything you wouldn’t like looks great. Until they see something better.”She laughed. “You hit the nail on the head. My husband thinks he has excellent taste.”“Does he?”“Absolutely not.” I laughed, opening my tablet.“Then I suppose I’ll have to convince him otherwise.”"Good luck with that. He’s stubborn and thinks I just want to throw money around.”“I think I’ve heard most wives say that about their husbands. He’ll see the difference in the end.”“Surely,

Gareth “Gareth,” Renata said as soon as I answered. “I’ve gone through the documents again, and I found something.”“Tell me. What is it?”“I spoke with the previous owner. He insists he never sold that piece of land to Tristan.”I sat up. “Are you sure?”“That’s what he told me. He said the only sale he agreed to was to was the one to Vellum.”“So how did Tristan’s name get on the record?”“He couldn’t explain that. I’m still looking into it.”I rubbed my forehead. “Find out what’s actually going on. I want answers. We need to know if the man is trying to play smart by selling the land twice.”“I’ll keep you updated, Gareth.”“Please do.”I ended the call, my eyes returning to the pile of work I still had on my desk.A knock sounded at the door.Damon walked in looking exhausted.“I see you’ve had a busy morning as well,” he said, glancing at the files on my desk.“Unfortunately.”He pulled out a chair. “So, any word from Renata?”“Yes. She called a while ago with nothing solid.”“

Gareth“Tristan Nolan.”Damon looked up from the survey. “You know him?”“Unfortunately.”I took the document from him. Tristan’s name appeared on the ownership record for a narrow strip along the property' s eastern boundary—the only access road into the development.“That’s the access road,” I said. “Without it, we can’t build.”“But you already bought the place.”“Paid in full. Everything appeared legitimate when I signed.”“Then how is his name on it?”“That’s what I want to know.” I pulled out my phone. “I’m calling Renata, my attorney.”She answered on the first ring, even at this hour. “Gareth?”“The eastern strip. Tristan Nolan’s name is on it. When did that happen?”“Give me a few minutes.”I waited, drumming my fingers on the table. Damon watched me but didn’t say anything.“Okay,” Renata said. “It was filed eleven days ago. But the signature was dated three weeks back.”“Before I even made my offer.”“Yes.”“So it’s fake.”“I can’t say that yet. But the dates don’t add up,

GarethSeeing Camille with another man had been more irritating because it was the last thing I expected.I was more surprised to see her at the event. She had no connection to it, but of course she’d come with him. Patrick. He was the man she’d been visiting at the hospital when he fell ill. Somehow he’d gone from being just a client to someone she was now spending time with as a friend, and that bothered me.Judging by how comfortable they seemed together, and the way Patrick had interrupted us when I was trying to speak with her, they were getting along rather well.I tugged off my tie and flung it onto the floor, hissing as the image of her taking his hand came back to me.I understood she’d been hurt when I went silent after traveling to Hong Kong the first time. But the bigger issue was that Tristan was my cousin, and I’d kept that from her. But I didn’t expect she’d want to end what we had just like that.Had she moved on already? I’d been distracting myself with Ning, but th
