Vienna’s POV

"I know," I rushed to explain, my words tumbling out faster than I could control. "It probably sounds crazy after everything, but… things have been complicated. He’s really trying, and…"

I trailed off, realizing just how messy and tangled my feelings were. And how inappropriate it was to expose all of it to my boss.

But Fred just gave a slow, thoughtful nod. His green eyes studied me carefully. "That’s… big news," he said softly.

I forced a small, slightly nervous smile. "Yeah. I suppose it is."

"Well," Fred added after a moment, "children need their father, after all. I can understand why you’d want to give him another chance."

That sentence made something in my chest tighten. I let out a small breath.

"Thanks. But let’s, uh, steer back to work, if you don’t mind," I added quickly. "Probably not the smartest idea to pour out my personal life to my boss."

Fred chuckled, his gaze softening. "Fair enough. But just so you know, you can always talk to me. We’re a team here."

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 161 - Christmas Ghosts

Vienna’s POVOn Christmas morning, I woke up to the soft rhythm of Zanele snoring beside me. Her staying over had basically become a habit these past months. I couldn’t blame her—my queen-sized bed was a world away from the cardboard-thin single mattress in her dorm room."Merry Christmas, Zee," I whispered, smiling at how peaceful and innocent she looked in her sleep. I slipped out of bed and padded to the closet, picking out a festive burgundy dress that hugged my bump in all the right places. Almost seven months pregnant now—and it showed. I turned sideways in the mirror and raised my brows at the silhouette. "Getting huge, little one," I whispered to my belly. The smell of freshly baked pastries greeted me before I even stepped into the kitchen. Raphaël was already there, in one of his over-the-top Christmas sweaters. Today’s had dancing reindeer with blinking LED noses. He stood at the counter arranging a tray of his famed pain au chocolat, with other flaky, golden pastries b

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 160 - Unwrapping Regrets

Warren’s POVMy father and I sat at the long, empty dining table. Just the two of us. A lone Christmas tree twinkled quietly in the corner.Charles brought out our desserts, setting our plates down gently before retreating to the kitchen. The silence between my father and me stretched long and heavy, thick with unspoken feelings. This Christmas wasn’t what either of us had hoped for. No Monica or Desiree to fill the void with their endless chatter. No Vienna sitting beside me in a dazzling dress, stealing my breath with just a smile.I glanced across the table. My father stared into his dessert like he might find answers in the swirl of whipped cream. I cleared my throat."I, uh… I found out something," I said slowly. "About Vienna. A little while ago."His eyes lifted to meet mine, cautious. "What is it?""She’s… pregnant."He nearly choked on his spoon. "Pregnant?!"I nodded, not trusting myself to say more right away.He blinked. "You mean… you’re going to be a father?"I hesitate

Vienna’s POV"He got here just in time," the doctor said finally, her voice calm but firm. "It was a close call, but he’s stable now. He suffered a mild cardiac arrest. He was lucky."Fred and I exhaled in unison, the weight of dread lifting just slightly."Can we see him?" I asked. She nodded. "One at a time."Fred gestured to me. "You go first.""You sure?""Yeah." He sat back down with a tired shrug. "I’ll pull myself together first."I squeezed his shoulder and followed the doctor through the quiet hallway. When we reached my father’s room, she opened the door for me, then stepped back to give us privacy.Harold lay still in the hospital bed, a tangle of tubes and wires connecting him to beeping machines. He looked smaller somehow, vulnerable in the thin gown, his skin pale against the white sheets. His eyes fluttered open at the sound of the door. "Vienna," he said hoarsely, managing a faint smile."Dad," I whispered, rushing to his side. I took his large hand carefully in mine,

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 158 - Nightmare Before Christmas

Vienna’s POVAs we waited for the ambulance, Raphaël crouched beside Harold, gently rolling him into the recovery position with careful hands. "Come on, mon vieux, just breathe," he murmured under his breath, checking Harold’s pulse again. He glanced up at me. "I think it might be a heart attack.""Heart attack?" I echoed, my voice hollow with disbelief."He’s still breathing. Pulse is steady. That’s a good sign," Raphaël added, trying to reassure us. "He’s unconscious, but he’s hanging in there."Fred crouched nearby, visibly shaken. "This can’t be happening…"Then I heard it—a faint, tinny voice echoing from somewhere in the bakery. I turned, following the sound to the corner of the floor, where Harold’s phone had slid from his hand. The screen was still lit up with an active call."Harold?! Harold?!" a sharp voice barked from the speaker.I picked up the phone and pressed it to my ear. "Eleanor?" I asked gently. There was a pause. "Who is this? Where’s Harold?" she snapped."This i

Vienna’s POVSomething sharp twisted in my chest. "Warren’s pain is not my burden to carry. Not anymore," I said, keeping my voice calm.Noah nodded slowly. "I know. I get it. I really do. It’s just... hard watching him unravel."I looked away, blinking hard. "He made his choices. And I had to make mine."Noah didn’t argue. "Yeah," he said quietly. "Yeah, you did."I turned and left him standing alone in the kitchen. I didn’t want to admit it—not even to myself—but his words had struck a nerve.Somewhere deep down, a part of me still cared. I couldn’t help but feel a flicker of pity for the way Warren had let Desiree manipulate him, how easily he’d been pulled into her web.Even if it was his own fault for not believing me. For not choosing me when it mattered most.Fred and Harold were much easier to be around. Fred had me in stitches daily, telling stories from the kitchen or roasting everyone at the table with loving sarcasm. I hadn’t realized how much I missed him—his steadiness,

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 156 - Winter Wonders

Vienna’s POVThe weeks passed in a gentle blur as Paris shed its golden autumn skin and wrapped itself in a wintery blanket. The bakery, once bathed in oranges and browns, had transformed into a twinkling Christmas paradise.Meanwhile, my belly grew rounder with each passing day. The little flutters inside had grown into strong kicks that startled me when I least expected it. What a strange and magical thing—to carry a little life, a little boy, inside me.At Le Cordon Bleu, I had somehow managed to rise to one of the top students of the semester. Raphaël never treated me differently, at least not publicly, but our occasional motorbike rides hadn’t gone unnoticed. One morning, as I was walking to campus after hopping off his bike two blocks early, I heard a voice behind me."I saw you get off that thing again," came Chloé’s voice, saccharine sweet.I turned calmly. "It’s called a motorbike, Chloé.""Right, right," she said with a smirk. "You and Professor Delacour must be getting very
