Threatened

“Selene!!”

I heard my father screamed my name atop of his lungs from the living room he was in, and I shivered in fear from the echo of his voice which chimed so loud in my ears like bells.

I had just taken my bath and was only trying to zip the zipper of my blue flared gown behind my back. Without wasting anymore time, I pack my long hair into a messy bun and quickly ran out fast like a cat chasing a mouse out of my room and found myself down the living room in a flash, with my head slightly bowed before my father who sat like a king on a lion carved wooden black chair, at the center of our large luxurious living room.

I stood in front of my father, shaking like someone who had caught a flu, carefully avoiding his dangerous piercing gaze on me; which I have felt right from the moment I had walked into the living room. Two male servants stood at his back with their heads bowed to the ground, and their hands clasped behind their backs, waiting for his call of command and they looked just as frightened and nervous as I am.

“Have your thoughts about what I ask of you?” His voice sounded deep and cold with no emotions as it rang through my brains in an instant.

Beads of sweats could be seen visibly on my forehead as they appeared in straight lines while I try to wipe them off from entering my left eye.

I tried to raise my head to look at him and I knew instantly what he meant by those words. He was looking at me like a tiger would pounce on its prey if it made any move.

“I – erm – I have not decided about it father”, I said as I stammered out my words looking all shaky, staring into those huge red eyes which had suddenly turned dark in annoyance.

“How dare you joke about this? This is arrant nonsense!”. He thundered and stood up immediately from his seat the minute the words left my mouth.

His belly shook from the effects of his annoyance while he stamps his feet hard onto the cold wooden floor in rage. He continues,

“Do you think I was joking when I asked you to prepare yourself when you would be meeting Alpha Damon, your soon to be husband?,” He roared in annoyance, using his alpha tone which made me flinch in fear.

My mother had heard the quarrel between me and father from her room and had decided to check out what was happening. She came out from her room, as she dragged her weak limbs which had gotten dislocated from the constant beatings she received from my father, her mate, when she refused his advances to have her the previous night.

I saw my mother hid herself and peered fearfully from the frame of the living room door to see my father lashing out his annoyance on me, over the issue of getting me married to a man I don’t love or know a thing about.

With a sigh, she went back to her room to lock herself inside, as she lay her weak body on the bed with her face deeply pressed on a pillow; in deep tears.

“I – erm…”, I paused when I noticed a sudden lump had form at the back of my throat.

“Please father, I can not find myself marrying that man you ask me to”. I frowned slightly, hiding my disappointment.

“You speak nonsense. You speak like a fool, and I won’t spare you and that weakling mother of yours. I would make sure I disown you from being my child and denounce my claim of being her mate. You two disgust me”, He spat out of annoyance, but I didn’t dare say a word. I only nodded my head not because I accepted what he ask me of, but because of the fear I had that he may kill my mother, weakened my motive of running away from my father’s house and the pack as a whole.

“You both are weaklings and useless,” He continued but with a pause,

“I wondered why the moon goddess had given me such trash as mate and daughter”. He spat out angrily as his eyes flamed in annoyance, while I stood shaking like a leaf with fear and surprise in my eyes.

I couldn’t believe all this hating words could come out of my father’s mouth. Why does he hate us this much?

And what have we done to merit such hatred from him?

I ask myself knowing I won’t get the answer I was searching for.

He laughed evilly and before I knew it, he was standing before me as he grabbed my left arm, turning it backwards and I was forced to cry out of pain.

“Ouch, father it’s hurts!”. I cried out as I squeeze my face from the unexpected pain, as his long fingers pierced deep into my skin.

Hard.

“This is little, compared to the one you would get if you refuse to accept my request this time around to marry Alpha Damon, the Alpha of the Green moss pack. I would make you and your mother’s life a living hell that you would wish you were never have been born, and all your rights would be strip from you. You won’t bear my name and neither would I accept you as my daughter even if I still give you this grace to manage you as one”.

He stated coldly with gritted teeth, as he spoke in whispers into my ears.

All I could do was nothing. I was under his mercy and I needed to get freed.

“Father please give me another day to think this through… I promise I would give you the answer you seek for”.

I stated calmly, trying to make him release the grip on my arm that was already crushed.

I feared he might just tear out my arm away from my body and throw it to the vultures… I thought inwardly as tears flowed like streams from my eyes.

He felt satisfied seeing me miserable under his mercy because, he suddenly left my hurting arm and threw me to the floor like a piece of rag that I hit my soft butt on the hard wooden floor with a thud.

Way way too many descriptors. Every sentence contains multiple adjectives and it’s compensating for flat storytelling.
