Reina's POV

The pain in my chest burned fiercely as I stumbled out of Zayne’s apartment. My knees were trembling under the crushing weight of rejection and betrayal. It felt as though my heart had been torn apart and carelessly thrown back into my chest, still bleeding and aching.

But I forced myself to keep moving.

I refused to collapse in front of them. I refused to give them the satisfaction of seeing me break. I would not fall there and let Zayne and Mariana laugh at my weakness. No matter how much it hurt, I had to leave with whatever dignity I had left.

As I walked, a thousand questions crowded my mind.

How could I have been so blind?

How could I never realize that Zayne never truly loved me?

My hand instinctively pressed against my chest as if I could somehow hold my heart together. It clenched painfully, as though it might shatter at any moment. I found it was difficult to breathe and even focus.

Tears streamed endlessly down my face, blurring my vision. I felt abandoned, discarded as if I had never meant anything at all. All the sacrifices I had made, all the effort I had put into building my life, all the love I had poured into him, it suddenly felt meaningless.

I had worked hard to make something of myself. I had been ready to stand by Zayne, to support him in every way I could, to walk beside him as his mate and his partner. Yet in his eyes, I was nothing more than a burden.

Just like I had always been to my father.

That realization hurt more than anything else.

I didn’t even notice when I passed through the gates. My body moved on its own, guided only by pain. Before I could stop myself, my legs gave out, and I sank to the ground. I curled into myself, burying my face between my knees, my shoulders shaking violently with sobs.

My voice broke as I whispered into the empty night.

“Why…? Why did it have to be this way, Moon Goddess?”

The phone in my pocket rang, and I finally stood up. My father was calling me, which never happened before. I sniffled my sobs and answered the call for one last time.

"Yes, Dad?"

"Whatever you're doing, leave that. And come home," Fredrick, my father, commanded from the other side of the phone.

"Okay." I hung up and hailed a taxi home. The journey came to an end soon. I had made up my mind. I would tell my father that I no longer wanted his charity and would go my separate ways. However, the moment I stepped into the house, I saw imposing men in black dresses lined up in a circle in the living room.

"Reina, where were you? Why didn't you hurry home?" My stepmother, Madam Britney, rushed to me, grabbing my arm.

"What's happening? Who are they?" I asked her.

He was easily over six feet tall, his presence dominating the room the moment he stood. When he turned toward me, I froze in place, unable to move or breathe.

The golden eyes of the man screamed that he was someone powerful. Stories whispered among werewolves spoke of Alphas with golden eyes. They were rare beings blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. They were said to be the most powerful rulers in existence, feared and respected by all.

And now, one of them was standing right in front of me.

My gaze drifted over his appearance. His jawline was sharp and perfectly defined, while his shoulders were broad and strong. The muscles beneath his white shirt stretched with every movement, hinting at immense strength restrained beneath calm control.

"Alpha Damon, this is Reina Ashfall. You must have already known about her origin. I must not say this,s but she's my illegitimate daughter," Fredrick spoke.

What the hell was happening? Why did my father introduce me like that?

And then, Damon strode to me. My stepmother had already moved as if she was scared of this man.

Before I could step away, Damon's calloused fingers brushed my cheek, and a sound radiated from his mother, "I've been looking for you, mate, for over a decade. Finally, you're mine."

Reina's POV "Yes, but I will tell you only if you appeal to Damon to free all of us," Fredrick said, a bargaining glint entering his eyes. "If not, then this truth will get buried with me," he added with a sinister smile. As expected, he refused to give me any answers unless I offered him a promise. This man had lied to me too many times before. This time, I wouldn't fall into his trap."How am I supposed to believe you? Who knows if I even have any relatives out there? Besides, my mother worked as a servant in your house, didn't she?" I questioned, crossing my arms defensively. "I don't wish to know anything from you anymore. It's better to just let you rot in this prison."If he actually cared to tell me the truth, he would have done so without trying to exploit my past or being so cruel. I turned my back on him for the final time. "Reina, don't be foolish," Fredrick called out, his voice turning desperate as he realized he was losing his leverage. "You want answers, and this is y

Adira's POVForming a family of my own had always been my dream. As I folded the clothes and placed them inside the cupboard, I heard a soft knock on the door."Coming!"Shutting the cupboard doors, I hurried over and opened it to find Nica standing in the hallway."Nica! Did you sleep well?" I asked, noticing her face looked much brighter and well-rested."Yeah. I hadn't slept that well in such a long time," Nica replied.I stepped aside, inviting her into the room, and she walked over to settle onto the small sofa. "You must be hungry," I said. "I can ask the servants to prepare something light for you, even though it's already evening.""I'm not that hungry. I'll just have supper with all of you later," Nica told me, gesturing toward the empty space beside her. "You should sit too. I have so much to talk to you about."I wondered what she wanted to discuss. Perhaps she intended to bring up the past, or share stories about Damon's life at the base."It's not about Damon. It's about

Third Person's POV Nica watched the exchange, a polite but tight smile playing on her lips. "You two look good together," she remarked, smoothing down her clothes as she rose to her feet. "I shall take my leave then.""You can stay here," Reina offered, standing up as well. "You're Damon's old friend, and after you traveled all this way with so much luggage, it wouldn't feel right to just send you away.""But it seems Damon doesn't quite agree," Nica noted, casting a pointed glance toward him.Reina glanced down at her husband, noticing his tense posture. She wondered what was causing his hesitation, but she chose not to push the matter. While she wanted to be a welcoming hostess, she knew the final decision of who stayed within the walls ultimately belonged to him. "Nica, as long as you behave," Damon warned, his voice low and unyielding."What do you mean by behave?" Nica chuckled, though the sound was slightly forced. "Gosh. We worked together for so long, Damon, yet you act lik

Third Person's POV "Who is Nica? You never told me that you had a female friend," Reina said, feeling surprised at the sudden revelation."She is not a close friend," Damon answered promptly, wanting to clear any misunderstanding immediately. "Nica is a healer. I met her years ago when I was leading the army at the borders during the conflict between our kingdom and the rogues.""I see. Let's go down and welcome her then," Reina stated, walking past him toward the grand staircase.Damon remained quiet, his mind racing. 'Why is Nica here? And how did she even get my personal number?' Frowning, he followed his mate downstairs. When they reached the foyer, a servant was already dragging a heavy set of luggage into the palace. Standing near the entrance was a woman who blinked in confusion the moment her eyes fell upon Reina."Who are you?" Nica asked, looking Reina up and down. Realization seemed to dawn on her a second later. "Oh, so you must be Damon's wife! It's nice to meet you. I a

Damon's POV I was wrong to bring Reina in front of her father. Instead of apologizing, that bastard had opened his mouth only to release more venomous words aimed directly at her.I covered her ears when Fredrick snarled, "I hope every single night you go to bed, we all haunt you! I pray to the Moon Goddess to never let you live in peace for destroying me and my family! I pray you burn in hell while staying alive!"Though I managed to block out those words, I couldn't stop Reina's tears from falling. The last thread of my restraint snapped. I lunged at Fredrick, my hand gripping his neck as I slammed his entire body against the damp stone wall."Keeping you alive was my mistake!" I growled, my eyes burning with rage as I squeezed the breath out of him. "Take Reina out of here," I commanded the warrior present. "Fredrick, you are not going to live. You have tested my patience enough. How many times did I give you a chance? That's not my way of handling things. If not for Reina, I wou

Third Person's POV After lunch, Angus left for the royal palace."Damon, what have you decided regarding the punishment for the Ashfall family?" Reina asked as they walked back inside the mansion after seeing off the Alpha Prince."Life imprisonment," Damon replied smoothly. He glanced down at her. "Why? Do you want to see them?""No. But Oliver mentioned that they wanted to see you one last time," Reina stated. "I've completely broken ties with them, and I'm not keeping their surname either.""You should check on their condition at least once," Damon opined gently, placing a hand on her waist. "They tortured you for years, ignoring your pain. Seeing them completely broken might bring you some peace."Reina agreed after a moment of contemplation. "I want to see what Fredrick has to say to me. I don't care about the others.""Then let's go see if he is truly remorseful for what he did to you," Damon stated. The two of them headed down into the cold, damp dungeons of the palace, where
