I was wolfless, pregnant, and alone. With nowhere left to run, I fled into the storm, desperate to save the only family I had left—my unborn baby. That's when I crashed into Dante Valenti. A ruthless Alpha with violet eyes, a dangerous reputation, and enough power to make entire packs tremble. He offered me shelter, protection, and a promise that sent shivers down my spine. “Tell me who hurt you, little wolf. I'll make him regret the day he was born.” But Dante doesn't protect people without reason. His gaze follows me like I'm his greatest obsession, and every time he touches me, my broken heart remembers how to beat. He says I'm his. But can I trust another Alpha when the first one destroyed me? And what will happen when Marco discovers the woman he discarded is carrying his heir—and another Alpha is ready to burn the world to keep her? He rejected me as worthless. Now he'll learn what it costs to lose me.
عرض المزيدGianna's POV
I kept checking my reflection in the rearview mirror, fixing my hair one last time before stepping out of the car. Today was our anniversary. Two whole years with Marco Ferraro, the soon to be Alpha of the Red River Pack. And I had the kind of news that could change everything between us.
I pressed my hand flat against my stomach and smiled. A baby. Our baby.
My wolf had never awakened. I was the shame of the Conti family, the cursed daughter, the wolfless omega everyone whispered about behind closed doors. But this pregnancy felt like proof that the Moon Goddess hadn't completely forgotten about me. Maybe this child would finally make Marco see me differently. Maybe his family would stop treating me like a burden they couldn't shake off.
I walked through the front entrance of the Ferraro estate without knocking. I had done it a hundred times before. The guards barely glanced at me anymore. I climbed the marble staircase with my heart pounding so hard it echoed in my ears.
But the moment I reached the hallway outside his bedroom, something cold settled in my chest.
I heard her voice first. Then his.
The door was slightly open. I pushed it with my fingertips, and the world I had carefully held together for two years shattered into a thousand pieces right there on the polished floor.
Marco was in bed. And my younger sister, Isabella, was lying next to him, her legs tangled in his sheets, her head resting on his bare chest like she belonged there.
"Marco..." My voice came out like something breaking.
He didn't even flinch. He just turned his head slowly, looked at me standing in the doorway, and his expression didn't carry a single drop of guilt.
Isabella sat up with a lazy stretch, pulling the sheet over her chest like it was some kind of casual morning. She looked at me the way someone looks at a stain on the carpet.
"Oh, look who finally showed up." Isabella tilted her head with a smile that made my blood run cold. "Did you really think he was going to stay with you forever, Gianna? A wolfless omega with nothing to offer?"
I couldn't breathe. My chest was on fire, and my hands were shaking so badly I had to press them against my thighs just to stay standing.
"Marco, tell me she's lying." I looked at him, searching for something, anything that would tell me this was a nightmare I could wake up from. "Tell me this isn't what it looks like."
He sat up slowly, swinging his legs off the bed. He didn't bother covering himself. He just looked at me with those dark eyes that used to make me feel safe, and now they were completely empty.
"It's exactly what it looks like." His voice was flat, unbothered, like he was reading the weather. "Isabella is going to be my Luna when I take over the pack tomorrow. That's already decided."
The words hit me like a fist to the stomach. I stumbled back a step, grabbing the doorframe to keep myself from falling.
"You promised me." My voice cracked, and I hated myself for it. "You marked me. You told me I was yours."
"And that was my mistake." He stood up, pulling on a pair of pants without any rush. "You were always a placeholder, Gianna. I needed a mate until the right one came along. Your sister actually has a wolf. She's strong. She's what this pack needs."
Isabella swung her legs off the bed and walked toward me with bare feet on the cold floor. She stopped just inches from my face, and her eyes were bright with something cruel and satisfied.
"You should be thanking me," she whispered. "I'm saving you from embarrassing yourself any further. Now get out of his room before you make this worse."
Something snapped inside me. Before I could think, my hand swung through the air and connected with the side of her face.
The sound cracked through the silence like a gunshot.
Isabella's head whipped to the side. For one glorious second, the shock on her face was worth every ounce of pain I was feeling.
But that second ended fast.
Marco moved before I could even pull my hand back. His fist closed around my arm and he threw me sideways with so much force that my body slammed into the floor. The impact knocked the air out of my lungs, and a sharp pain shot through my hip and ribs.
Before I could even try to get up, his hand was in my hair. He yanked me upward by the roots, and I screamed, my scalp burning like it was being ripped from my skull.
"Don't you ever put your hands on her again." His voice was low and vicious, right against my ear. "You are nothing, Gianna. You hear me? Nothing."
Tears blurred my vision, but I refused to let them fall. Not in front of him. Not in front of her.
Isabella touched her cheek where I had slapped her, then looked at Marco with wide, wounded eyes. "Baby, she's crazy. Just get rid of her already. I don't want her anywhere near us."
Marco released my hair and shoved me backward. I caught myself against the wall, my whole body trembling.
"Fine." He straightened up and looked at me with the kind of coldness that made my soul feel like it was freezing over. "I, Marco Ferraro, future Alpha of the Red River Pack, reject you, Gianna Conti, as my mate and Luna."
The words hit me like lightning tearing through my chest. The bond between us, that invisible thread I had clung to for two years, started ripping apart inside me. The pain was blinding. It felt like someone was dragging a burning blade through my heart, and I bit down on my tongue so hard I tasted blood.
Every cell in my body screamed at me to fight it, to refuse, to hold on.
But hold on to what? A man who threw me on the floor? A bond built on lies?
I looked at him through the tears I could no longer hold back. Then I looked at my sister, standing behind him with a satisfied little smile on her face.
"I, Gianna Conti," I whispered, my voice barely holding together, "accept your rejection."
The bond snapped.
The agony that followed almost brought me to my knees. It felt like something was being torn out of my chest with bare hands, leaving behind a raw, bleeding emptiness that I didn't know how to survive. My legs buckled, and I grabbed the wall to keep from collapsing.
Marco didn't even look at me. He had already turned back toward Isabella.
"You were always a curse," he called over his shoulder, his tone bored and dismissive. "Your family knew it. The pack knew it. Now even you know it. Do yourself a favor, Gianna. Disappear. And don't ever let me see your face again."
I pressed my hand against my stomach.
The baby. Our baby. He didn't even know. And now, he never would.
I pushed myself off the wall. My legs were shaking so badly each step felt like walking through water. But I forced them to move. One step. Then another. Then another.
I didn't look back.
I walked down the marble staircase with my hand pressed to my belly and my heart in ruins. The guards at the front door didn't stop me. They didn't even look at me. I was already invisible to this pack.
The night air hit my face as I stepped outside, and I sucked in a breath so sharp it burned my lungs.
I had no pack. No family. No mate. No wolf.
But I had this child growing inside me. And that was enough.
I gathered every last piece of strength I had left, and I walked away from the Ferraro mansion for good. I would never come back. I would never beg. I would build something new from the wreckage of everything they destroyed.
And I would protect this baby with my life.
Gianna's POV The silence between us was louder than anything I had ever heard.Dante stood so close I could count the flecks of gold hidden deep inside those impossible violet eyes. The morning sunlight slanted across his jaw, turning his skin warm and golden, and the shadow he cast over me made me feel small in a way that had nothing to do with height. My back was still pressed against the window glass. I could feel the cold seeping through the fabric of my shirt, but the rest of me was burning. Every nerve in my body was awake, pulled tight like a string about to snap."You're trembling again," he observed, his voice quiet and low, barely above a breath."You're standing too close." My voice came out in a whisper I hadn't planned."Am I?" He didn't move. Not forward, not back. He just stayed exactly where he was, watching me with an expression that made my stomach flip in ways I was not prepared for."Yes." I pressed my palms flat against the glass behind me, trying to ground mysel
Gianna's POV I barely slept that night. The bed was the softest thing I had ever touched in my life. The sheets smelled like lavender and something clean and expensive, and the pillows were so thick I practically sank into them. But every time I closed my eyes, Marco's voice came back to me, cold and final, ripping through the darkness behind my eyelids."You were always a curse."I pressed my face into the pillow and tried to breathe.By the time the morning light started creeping through the floor to ceiling windows, I had given up on sleep entirely. I washed my face, pulled on the oversized shirt and sweatpants someone had left folded on the armchair, and padded barefoot into the main sitting room.He was already there.Dante sat in the leather armchair near the window, one leg crossed casually over the other, a glass of something dark resting in his hand. The early morning sunlight caught his jaw, his cheekbones, the sharp line of his nose. He looked like he had been carved from
Gianna's POV Steam curled through the grand hotel suite like thin white ribbons, carrying the scent of expensive soap and something else, something warm and dangerously masculine that made my pulse stutter every time I breathed in.I stood near the marble bathroom doorway, clutching the edges of the plush bathrobe so tightly my knuckles had gone white. My hair was still damp, dripping cold trails down the back of my neck. My clothes were somewhere in a pile near the entrance, soaked through from the storm I had barely survived. And he was standing right there. Watching me.Dante Valenti.I didn't know his name yet. I didn't know anything about him except that he was tall, impossibly broad, and had a pair of violet eyes that felt like they could see straight through every wall I had ever built around myself. An hour ago, I had been running through the rain in San Ravenswood with no money, no shelter, and Marco's execution order burning a hole in my pocket. The storm had been brutal, t
Gianna's POV The gravel crunched under my feet as I stumbled down the long driveway of the Ferraro estate. My vision kept blurring, and I couldn't tell if it was from the tears or the pain still tearing through my chest where the bond used to be.Every few steps, I pressed my hand harder against my stomach, reminding myself why I had to keep moving. The night was cold. I hadn't brought a jacket. I hadn't brought anything. I had walked into that mansion thinking I was going to celebrate an anniversary, and I walked out with nothing but the clothes on my back and a broken bond that left a hole so deep I could feel it in my bones. Two years. I gave him two years of my life.I cooked for him. I cleaned for him. I stood beside him when the pack elders questioned whether a wolfless omega was worthy of their future Alpha. I swallowed every insult, every sideways glance, every cruel whisper from his mother, because I believed that he loved me.And the whole time, he was sleeping with my sist
