Chapter 4

This family is probably gone crazy. Why are they blaming me for their family problem? How can I suppose to talk to a dead person and fix their problem that I was not involved from the start?

"You are crazy. You are all crazy! I can't believe that I came here and just listened to your delusional story. Hah! I need to get out of here before I, too, go crazy." I turned my back on them, but the door suddenly opens, and another crazy woman entered the room.

"You need to make a promise, or we will never let you go. When you go back in time, in the year 1950, you need to make sure that my father will never fall in love with you. Please, change our fate and make Mama happy. That's the only she ever wanted," the lady said.

"Mama, calm down. Your heart," Dr. Dizon said then accompanied his mother. So, this is his mother.

"How can I make a promise if I don't understand anything? How can your father, grandfather, or your husband fell in love with me? He's dead already for goodness’s sake! He's way too old for me! I never met him, not a single time! How can I turn back in time? It is scientifically impossible! You!" I pointed Dr. Dizon. "You are a doctor; you are people of science and yet you are believing in such ideas. I can go back in time?! You are all crazy?" I exclaimed.

"Listen, on the first time I heard it, I nearly call my family crazy like what you did. But after seeing you grew and be exactly like the woman in the picture that my grandma kept for all these years, I believed. I somehow realized there are so many things in this world that cannot be explained easily. I do believe in reincarnation but when grandpa told me the story of a woman he loved so deeply, her sudden vanished without any trace and how he described that lady who even thought her a song that was just released in the year 2000s. How can you explain that? Tell me, Aliyah." He was so serious.

I blinked twice. I looked down at her grandma who's staring at me the whole time. Should I start believing them? Is her husband being the same person who never failed to send me a bunch of flowers every year for my birthday? My mother said it started when I was 3 years old. They never knew who the sender was. But now, I'm having some ideas.

No! It is still impossible. I will never believe them. What if they are some cults? And... They want me to be their sacrifice that's why that old keep sending me flowers.

"Do you think you can fool me that easy? I will never believe you! You are some just crazy people who tried to fool people? I'm not your first victim, right?" I fake my laugh.

"So now you are accusing us like criminals? You call crazy us a little while, now you think we are criminals? I'm not going to let it pass. I just want you to avoid my Papa if you can when you meet him. That's it. I'm done here!" Dr. Dizon's mother said.

Dr. Dizon sighed then looked at me with disappointment. I maintain my angry face. Grandma Sonia spoke again.

"Just make sure he is okay, his back hurts so bad when her old years came. I need to put some ointment on him every single time," she said. She handed me a small notebook that looks like a diary.

"What is this?" I asked her.

"Some pointers when you go back there. It will be really hard for a modern lady like you to meddle with ancient people. Just be you," she answered then drifted her eyes on the window again, staring at nothing.

I just rolled my eyes. I will go crazy if I stay here a little more. I quickly find a way out of the house, I feel that Dr. Dizon was following me, but you know, I don't care. I want to get rid of this family.

"Wait, Aliyah!" He blocked my way.

"What is it again? I gave what you wanted. I listened to your grandma, you made me stress again and made me think a lot of crazy things. Time travel thingy? If you believe in such a story, well, I'm not like you." I pushed him.

"My grandma nearly took her own life when she was pregnant with my father. Do you know what's the reason?" He looked at me.

I just stare at him, waiting for him to answer his own question.

"Because my grandfather loved that Aliyah that he totally forgot he has a family. That he has a pregnant wife to take care of. I know it is not his fault, he only married grandma because of their family. He doesn't want any woman to enter his life unless it is you. Do you know how painful that for my grandma is?"

I bit my lips. Why am I hurting? Is it my fault?

"And because of the stress she experienced during her pregnancy, my father got so many complications and the worst, he got a serious problem on his heart. I blamed him for all of that, he was never a good father and a grandfather to us. Instead of watching me grow, it is you he watched all along. I was so jealous! That I wished you were dead. And when he heard that, he hit me so hard. I cursed you!" He shouted.

I don't know what to say. "I'm... I'm sorry. But why are you blaming me? Is it really my fault that your father was just that crazy for a girl? I am not that girl! How many times do I have to tell you that?! Maybe, he was mistaken for me to be that girl he was crazy about. I'm so sorry to hear your story. I can't do anything about that, your grandfather was already dead, you must forgive him so he can have peace. You are just mad at him so you're having some unusual thoughts. I'm going," I said.

Even I am now meters away from that house, I can still feel the heaviness in my heart. They are not the happy family they are dreamed of and I guess that was it. They just having emotional stress. Yeah, so as for me!

I am about to cross the empty highway when suddenly a car came out somewhere. And before I can run back to the sidewalk, it hit me!

My sense of time disappeared and can barely think of what to do or what's going on in my surroundings. I heard people shouting and crying. My body and head are hurting so bad.

"Aliyah?! Wake up! Don't sleep. I got you."

I heard a familiar voice that was starting to fade. In my mind, I am chasing it. But it is getting so far. I lost.

"Miss, are you alright?"

That voice again but this time it is so near to me. I try to open my eyes.

"Of course, she is. She just stumbled and bumped her head lightly. Look, there's no blood."

Wait? What?

I was hit by a car so badly. My body was aching- wait! Hold on a second, I don't feel any more pain.

I opened my eyes and saw Dr. Dizon and an unfamiliar man wearing an army suit.

"See? She's alright. Come on, we are getting late!" the man said.

As I stare at this man, I can surely think right now because my senses just came back to me. This man is not Dr. Dizon! Why are they so look alike?
