How will you feel when you end up with the same person you were trying to find an escape from? How will you feel when you end up in a one-night stand with your Ex-husband? Her eyes fluttered as she felt the morning cool breeze brushing against her bare body, which was semi-covered with a quilt. Although her eyes felt heavy to even blink, her other senses were high alert. She could hear the bird chirping outside the windows, she could smell a familiar masculine cologne, her body covered with goosebumps with the presence of someone familiar, and her heart beats rapidly on its own accord. That's when her brain registered her surroundings and could recollect her last passionate night with someone who would be her soon-to-be ex-husband. How? When? Why? She mentally slapped herself, but then she couldn't hide the contentment. She felt as if she was complete now. She couldn't stop but feel happy again. Why? Why does she feel like falling in love again? "I see you are still the w***e you were back then," his words broke her little dream she just thought of. "A desperate woman like you, who can with her ex-husband, can no wonder w***e around any men." He said with no remorse. "I did the right thing by divorcing you. How much do you charge for a night?" he smirked, looking at her teary face. "Here! Take extra 200 bucks for the sake of our old times." She vowed never to cry in front of her husband, but what he said just now shattered her soul beyond repair. Her quivering body and hollow eyes didn't hide the agony she felt at that very moment. "Sorry for loving you."
View MoreThe energy inside the club was at its peak, and aloof from the crowd, there stood a woman in the corner, Myra. Dressed in a beige-colored body-hugging dress with bold red lips, she looked nothing less than a seductress, though petite, yet there was something about her that was intriguing. She was accompanied by her friend, Sharon, who was doing everything to engross her in mischievous chat about men around, but to no avail. Myra’s eyes told everything that she was feeling from inside; sad.
“Myra, you have to let him go,” Sharon said, interrupting her thoughts.
Sharon observed how Myra was only holding her drink and was lost somewhere.
Giving her signature smile with a glint of sorrow, Myra replied, “He already left me. Can I do anything now?” With that, she drowned her drink in two chugs.
“Woah! Let’s go and burn the dance floor!” Myra said, sounding cheerful.
Sharon couldn’t help rolling her eyes at her failed attempt.
The in-house DJ was playing the trance. Myra closed her eyes and lost herself in a daze, letting the music slowly fade her sorrow away. With each beat, she felt her mind replaying her past in front of her, and one by one, she was letting it out of her memoir.
Suddenly the music seemed to stop. Loud voices could be heard from somewhere near the bar counter that was designed in such a way it looked like an underground floor rather than a part of the club. Myra opened her eyes and saw the same confused expression on her friend’s face. When they noticed that the crowd started gathering towards the railing separating the counter and the dance floor, they immediately walked towards to see the cause.
Myra heard an angry voice followed by a loud grunt. Her instinct suddenly went on high alert on its own, which seems to have confused her. She could make out a male voice who was yelling profusely while hitting someone.
Why do I feel scared all of a sudden? She thought while walking briskly along with her friend.
When she had a clear view, she saw the back of a man who was crouched down on someone, clutching the collar, and was giving a punch one after the other. She felt her eyelids start fluttering like a bad omen. She didn’t have time to register when suddenly she heard the man who was hitting roar, “Son of a bitch, you dare! SHE IS MY WIFE!”
She gasped and held her breath as she was too familiar with the voice and the anger behind it. She snapped out of her thoughts when she felt a burning gaze on her, and her black orbs immediately locked with the brown ones.
She couldn’t stand on her shaking legs and almost lost her balance when Sharon held her. She, too, had the same horrid expression as Myra.
The rage Myra saw in his eyes made her flinch, and the next moment she ran, she ran to save herself before the promised wrath in those brown eyes could engulf her. Her instinct told her to run, and she obliged without caring for the direction she was going. When she came to her senses, she realized she was in one of the restrooms. One look at her reflection froze her.
What she saw was the reflection of a woman who was trembling violently, her face tear-stained which she didn’t even realize till now. She put her trembling hands over her mouth to stop her whimpers. The neighboring girl gave a sympathetic glance, and Myra quickly averted her gaze, turning the water faucet with her trembling hand. She was startled when she heard someone shrieking.
“Who the fuck are you? This is the women’s restroom, you asshole!”
Before Myra could comprehend who shrieked or whom that girl was cursing, her forearm was harshly pulled, and she came across the same angry orbs.
She froze when she realized Abram followed her inside the restroom.
All she saw was fury in his eyes, which was scanning her from head to toe, and the scowl deepened, noticing her body-hugging dress. His nostrils were flaring like an angry bull.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” before she could open her mouth, he continued.
“What the hell are you wearing?” Abram yelled while roughly grabbing her by her forearms, making her flinch.
“Please…..” she gulped in fear and continued, “please, you are hurting me.”
She didn’t know whether she should be happy to see him after two years or she should be afraid of his anger as before?
“No, it’s perfect,” Myra said, both oblivious that they were still holding their hands while looking into each other’s eyes with love. However, their moment was broken when a nurse came in carrying their son Amayr, and the room was filled with his whimpers. Myra couldn’t believe a few hours ago, she was still carrying her baby, and now she could hold him. Her chin wobbles overwhelmed with emotions. Abram went behind Myra, supported her back over his body, and gestured to the nurse to bring their child. Myra could see his pink fist poking out of the cover while whimpering in annoyance. She smiled widely and let out a giggle, making her welled eyes start trailing. Her breath hitched in her throat, and she started crying, seeing her innocent son staring at her with curiosity. “He got your eyes,” she whispered barely audibly. “But he looks exactly like you,” he rubbed her back to calm her. She was shivering with rising sentiments for her child, and his warmth proved to relax her tensed
Myra stood frozen in her place even when Elijah lay unconscious on the floor. Pain, anger, frustration, and every emotion rushed through her. She didn’t know what would happen to her or how she would deal with the aftermath of going through so much, but she couldn’t care less. She was done with being the damsel, with people breaking her trust. At that point, something snapped inside her. She was so overwhelmed that she didn’t realize the absence of her baby kicking inside her and a bubbling pain rushing through her spine. She didn’t even notice Daniel coming closer and untying her hands. She didn’t hear him talking to her rapidly. All she could feel was a sudden wave of pain passing through her back and abdomen. A heart-wrecking scream left her mouth as her body gave up, resisting the ripples of pain across her body. For a moment, the surroundings went blank for her; the only sound she could hear was her accelerating heartbeat. She knew she would hit the ground at any moment, but two
“You still haven’t answered. Why did you do all this?” Abram asked, clenching his jaw.“Baby, care to explain how he learned about you staying here?” Instead of replying to Abram’s question, Elijah grazed his lips over her neck in a deliberately slow move.Myra’s chest heaved in dread recollecting his earlier warning. After staying with him for three months and seeing craze in his eyes for her, she was aware of where her silence would land her and Abram.“I…..I.. don’t…” she shook her head when as a warning, he bit her shoulder before he interrupted her, “doesn’t matter now.”Abram couldn’t help opening his eyes at her wince and yell, “Stop fucking touching her!”“Oh, but I have been doing more than touching Myra for the last three months. Isn’t it, baby?” Myra wanted to refute it, but she couldn’t deny it. And even if she wants to prove her innocence, why would she do it in the first place? Wasn’t her image worse than a whore in Abram’s eyes? Wasn’t she just a toy for him to play wi
If Zara’s betrayal was a hit to him, it was nothing compared to the betrayal he felt seeing the person in front of him. Of all the people, he never expected him to be the culprit. “Weren’t you coming back on the next flight?” Abram asked, turning around and facing him.“Indeed I was. I was about to leave, but my motion sensor alerted me of your arrival,” he replied.Green orbs against black ones.“Why Elijah?” Abram strides towards him even though Ronan warns him to take cover.“What’s the hurry? Let me first welcome you properly. If my mother was alive, she would have beaten me to death for my lack of manners,” he chuckled dryly.“You can ask your friend to come out too. I am not armed. I am a peace-loving person,” he laughed over his joke.Ronan cursed Abram and pointed the gun at Elijah, who immediately raised his hand in surrender. “I am at your mercy, Sir; you can check me if you want,” the plastered smile never leaves his face. Zara was still kneeling beside him, not making ey
“Would you not invite us inside Zara?” Abram asked with a wicked smile. The fear and the hesitation on her face were enough to concrete his suspicion of her. When she didn’t reply, he barged in with force making her stumble back, followed by Ronan, who secured the exit. “What…how…do you know this place?” she stuttered, gaping at how her escape was blocked by a stranger.“The same way you came to know I was hospitalized. Funny, Dad told me it was you who called him that day and not the other way around,” as soon as he said, her face blanched.“Y-yes…I….c-came back that day and…a-and wanted to check about Ruby aunty,” she stammered with shallow breathing.“Oh, I forgot to mention, Mom is awake now, and she was asking about you,” he said, plopping on the couch and spreading his arms on the backrest. As he anticipated, she went rigid and gaped at him. “Zara, are you not happy hearing about Mom?” he asked gently, gauging her reaction.“I-I….am h-happy,” she forced a smile but was unsucce
While Sharon was moved to a normal ward, Abram requested Daniel to be with her while he checked on his father. For an hour, both father and son stood outside the operating room, waiting for it to end.As soon as the light above the OT’s door turned off, their stances went alert. “Congratulations, your wife is out of the coma. Everything went well, but we have sedated her for recovery,” Dr. James announced, removing his mask.“Out of coma?” Noah asked dumbfounded“Yes, Mr. Aly. Earlier, when her body went into shock, it was a reaction to the treatment, but still, we have to remove the clot to avoid future complications. Didn’t I say miracles happen?” he smiled, patting Noah’s shoulders.“We will move her into the ward soon. By the way, who is Zara? The patient was crying whiile calling her name.”The moment Abram heard the doctor, the missed piece finally was put in its right place. The surrounding blurred around him and his eyes flashed with determination. Inside Sharon’s ward:“Zar
