28. The calm after the storm.

After calming my little princess and getting her back to sleep, I realize that I am restless. It's past nine in the evening, and Astrid hasn't returned my calls. Worried and unable to sleep, I pick up the phone and try calling her once again. As the call echoes in the air, my gaze gets lost in the nighttime landscape beyond the window. The sky, illuminated by a myriad of bright stars, seems to witness my agony. Among those sparkling lights, the gray moon reflects gently on the tranquil waters of the lake in front of me.

The voicemail interrupts the call once again, frustrating my hopes. I take a deep breath and decide to leave another message, hoping that Astrid listens to it and understands the extent of my concern.

"Hi, my princess, please don't leave me in this state of distress. Answer me, please. I know you heard our earlier conversation. Believe me, everything will be okay. Call me because I am on the verge of madness. If you don't, I'll be capable of scouring
