"You're here." My dad pointed out coldly.
"Her husband cheated on her." My mother said instantly making me sigh, couldn't she have waited till the old man was calm.
"I told you not to marry that man." Father sneered angrily while I shrugged.
"How do you plan to deal with it? Would you leave him be?"
"Of course not." I responded settling down on the chair opposite my father.
The Gilbert family, a household name that is not to be trifled with.
After all, running a billion dollar company comes with some power.
That is the family I came from, and the same one I am set to rule in the nearest future.
Ignoring an issue like cheating is something my dad would not let me tolerate but honestly retaliating against that asshole is a waste of energy, for an ego as big as his, living my best life is the best revenge.
The main reason why I didn't even tell him about my real identity was because of that ego of his, coming out as The Elisa Gilbert will hurt his pride so much.
"I'll contact his company, he would be fired." I stated simply, making my dad furrow his brows together.
"Don't tell me you're still in love with someone who betrayed you." As expected, he thinks my punishment is too light.
"That family has very poor spending habits and don't save at all, if he gets fired without any payment, there's no way for him to take care of himself, his mother, his mistress and his unborn child." I explained calmly.
"Unborn child?" My mother asked staring at my stomach for a bit, quickly averting her gaze so I won't notice.
No matter how hard they tried to hide it, it seems they want a grandchild too.
"If you need me, I'll be in my room." I said politely, trying to escape.
I was about to climb the staircase when my mother called me to halt.
"There will be a party thrown to welcome you tomorrow, I'll tell you the venue later, make sure to pick a proper clothing." I hummed in response continuing my ascent.
"I'm worried about her dear." I heard my mother's distant voice, she shouldn't be, I'm stronger than she thinks.
I got to my room and collapsed on my bed groaning, what a hectic day.
Now that I am back, I guess dad will leave the company for me to handle.
When I insisted on getting married to Derrick, he had only let me stay as a head of office just so I could take care of myself even without my husband's money.
The old man truly cared even if he was too strict about it.
My phone dinged with a text and I reached into my pocket grabbing it.
It is a text from dad.
"What?" I exclaimed sitting up on my bed, what the duck does he mean that to get the CEO position I must get married?
Does that make sense? His daughter just came of out a marriage that ended up in misery.
I was getting ready to meet him when mom's text came in, telling me the venue for the party.
I frowned reading her text as I bit my lip, he sent it as a text meaning that he didn't want mom to know, storming down there will make her aware and cause her to worry.
I guess I'll have to confront him later.
Sighing, I laid back down on bed slowly drifting off to sleep.
I can't help but wonder, if I did conceive would the story have been different?
Well I guess I will never know.
----------------------
The next day came quickly, I woke up and went downstairs to see every where empty, I guessed my mom must have taken the staffs to prepare for the party while my dad went to work.
Sluggishly I ate my breakfast before going back upstairs, opening my laptop ready to work when my mom's text came in to remind me of the time for the party.
"She way too excited for this." I muttered suspiciously, but decided to push that aside.
I turned on my laptop and went through my email, trying to keep up with the company's latest news.
"What?" I murmured noticing something different in a particular sector.
I'll have to check that when I assume office.
I was deeply engrossed in work and before I knew it the time for the party reached.
I stood up begrudgingly, getting ready for the party.
"They are still not back?" I asked myself as I noticed the empty house, left with no other choice I picked up one of the car keys, and then left.
By the time I arrived at the venue it had people in the the restaurant, didn't they normally book the whole place?
Something felt off, deciding to ignore my whole body screaming I should leave, I tried to locate the private room, and after asking a receptionist she ordered a waitress to lead me there.
I stood in front of the door, my heart pounding wildly against my chest, something felt off, I just couldn't place my finger on it.
Taking in a deep breath, I twisted the door knob and pushed the door open, color draining from my face as I saw the cold figure sitting nonchalantly at the other side of the table.
My mother had tricked me! She had set up a blind date, and out of all people to do that with she chose Damon Throne.
I immediately turned around ready to run away, when his words made me freeze.
"You're really going to run away after not seeing me for three years?" He asked, his voice cool and refreshing.
I turned back to see his dark eyes piercing at me nervously making me gulp.
"Hey.... Damon." I stuttered trying my best to calm my nerves.
A Gilbert shouldn't act like this, but who am I kidding? Back in my lovestruck past, I had insulted Damon badly because he was against me being with Derrick.
He was a very good friend, yet I pushed him away, now he is Infront of me as my blind date.
Mother, what the hell did you?
DAMON"What?" I asked, wondering why in hell's name these people had the right to dictate the fate of my marriage."You're dying and you're still clinging onto this marriage?" Mother scoffed rolling her eyes.Silence settled between us as I stared at them, how did they know? Was the house taped by them when they came the first time? But they didn't even cross the door post.My head throbbed slightly with all the thoughts running round as I tried to put a finger on what's going on, till dad spoke up."We have a shaman that could prevent your death." He stated calmly and I narrowed my eyes at him.I was still conscious about them, these people had shoved me aside my whole life and called me the devil despite the fact I tried so hard to earn their love. Now they are trying to help me?Something doesn't feel right."What do you get out of this? Helping me would do you no good." I questioned putting all my guards up.I can't let them know I was desperate or they would use it as a leverage.
DAMONI tapped my fingers on my arm, silently checking the time, as much as I wanted to stay by Eli's side as she was supporting her cousin.Staying here while the torment starts will cause Elisa much more distress."Jewel, I have to go back home, I know your cousin is in distress but both of you need to eat something, I'll go back home and try to whip something up."I announced the moment it was 11:30, Elisa hummed in response to my words looking a bit absent minded."Will you be okay on your own?" She asked with worry making me smile softly.I knew what she meant, I appreciated her thoughts but at the same time I don't like her worrying so much."I'll be fine don't worry, just look after Jenna." I replied placing a soft kiss on her forehead."Take care of yourself." She said to me as I turned around and left.Hopefully everything would be alright here.I need to hurry home so I can come back to her as soon as possible.Since it was almost midnight, the road was a bit clear so I was
ELISAIt was already 8am, Damon wasn't back yet, I was starting to worry, could it be something happened to him?Maybe the voices started on his way home and he got into some crash? No, I shouldn't assume the worst right away.Taking a look through the window I saw Jenna tending to Aiden, since she was occupied I slipped away going out to call Damon."Dear customer the number you called is currently not available, at the sound of a beep you can drop a message.""Damon, are you okay? If you get this can you at least send me a text, I'm worried, please take good care of yourself okay."I cut the call, staring at my screen for a while trying to resist the urge to go back home.He always picked up when I called him. And if he missed it, he'd call or text back within seconds. It's been five minutes and my screen was still black. That was it, I'm going to him.But Jenna... Would it be a good thing to leave her behind in such a situation?Aiden was out of danger so it shouldn't be much of a
ELISAThe surgery in progress light was still on, I checked my phone and saw it was almost midnight, at this point I was casting glances at Damon. The voices would soon start, if he reacted in front of Jenna it would be bad, but I can't leave Jenna right now, not the one moment she needs me the most.I was conflicted racking my brain to find a suitable excuse to give to let Damon go for hours and return later.11:30, Damon opened his eyes and looked at me before walking towards where Jenna and I sat down."Jewel, I have to go back home, I know your cousin is in distress but both of you need to eat something, I'll go back home and try to whip something up." "Oh, okay." I answered absentmindedly, why didn't I think of that.Jenna's face was buried in my chest as I patted her back gently."Will you be okay on your own?" I asked, I know he understood what I meant."I'll be fine, look after Jenna." Damon stated and placed a soft kiss on my forehead."Take care of yourself." I said feeling
ELISA With the disruption removed, the celebration continued as before, for now I was satisfied with Adam's action. At least I know he was not a spineless fool and could protect Aunt Lily well.My gaze went to Jenna, her eyes were still fastened on the exit and when she thought no one was looking, she slipped away.I decided not to say anything, that bastard was her father, she just needs some closure.Turning back I went to the bathroom as I originally intended to, by the time I returned the party was the same like it was never interrupted.Damon stood awkwardly with Liam in his arms, the kid on the other hand seemed oblivious to his uncle's awkwardness and just played with his hands, the moment he saw me his face lit up and he stretched out for me."Hey kiddo." I greeted him as I took him into my hands, Damon muttering a thank you to me while I chuckled, he was so cute."Aunty, where were you?" Liam asked with a tiny pout and I rubbed his hair, my nephew was so adorable."Aunty had
ELISAI left the kid behind and walked back towards the ball, my blood boiled to see Aiden holding my aunt by her wrists. How the fuck did he get in here?My eyes trailed to Adam, I wanted to see what he could do before taking any action.(RECOMMENDED SONG: MINEFIELDS BY FAOUZIA, JOHN LEGEND)*********Adam moved in front of Lily, his cold gaze shooting daggers at Aiden."What makes you think you have any right to touch her?" He asked coldly.Aiden snorted glaring right back at Adam."What right do you have to interfere? Lily is just mad at me right now, she is doing this for her revenge, so step aside."Hearing his words, Adam couldn't help but chuckle."You're an old man, there's no need for you to be this delusional." He stated simply."This is no place for a scene, I'd like for you to leave." He didn't want to cause a scene in front of everyone, it was best to resolve this later."Jenna, are you going to stand and watch this man tear your family apart? He is the reason why your mo
