"You're here." My dad pointed out coldly.
"Her husband cheated on her." My mother said instantly making me sigh, couldn't she have waited till the old man was calm.
"I told you not to marry that man." Father sneered angrily while I shrugged.
"How do you plan to deal with it? Would you leave him be?"
"Of course not." I responded settling down on the chair opposite my father.
The Gilbert family, a household name that is not to be trifled with.
After all, running a billion dollar company comes with some power.
That is the family I came from, and the same one I am set to rule in the nearest future.
Ignoring an issue like cheating is something my dad would not let me tolerate but honestly retaliating against that asshole is a waste of energy, for an ego as big as his, living my best life is the best revenge.
The main reason why I didn't even tell him about my real identity was because of that ego of his, coming out as The Elisa Gilbert will hurt his pride so much.
"I'll contact his company, he would be fired." I stated simply, making my dad furrow his brows together.
"Don't tell me you're still in love with someone who betrayed you." As expected, he thinks my punishment is too light.
"That family has very poor spending habits and don't save at all, if he gets fired without any payment, there's no way for him to take care of himself, his mother, his mistress and his unborn child." I explained calmly.
"Unborn child?" My mother asked staring at my stomach for a bit, quickly averting her gaze so I won't notice.
No matter how hard they tried to hide it, it seems they want a grandchild too.
"If you need me, I'll be in my room." I said politely, trying to escape.
I was about to climb the staircase when my mother called me to halt.
"There will be a party thrown to welcome you tomorrow, I'll tell you the venue later, make sure to pick a proper clothing." I hummed in response continuing my ascent.
"I'm worried about her dear." I heard my mother's distant voice, she shouldn't be, I'm stronger than she thinks.
I got to my room and collapsed on my bed groaning, what a hectic day.
Now that I am back, I guess dad will leave the company for me to handle.
When I insisted on getting married to Derrick, he had only let me stay as a head of office just so I could take care of myself even without my husband's money.
The old man truly cared even if he was too strict about it.
My phone dinged with a text and I reached into my pocket grabbing it.
It is a text from dad.
"What?" I exclaimed sitting up on my bed, what the duck does he mean that to get the CEO position I must get married?
Does that make sense? His daughter just came of out a marriage that ended up in misery.
I was getting ready to meet him when mom's text came in, telling me the venue for the party.
I frowned reading her text as I bit my lip, he sent it as a text meaning that he didn't want mom to know, storming down there will make her aware and cause her to worry.
I guess I'll have to confront him later.
Sighing, I laid back down on bed slowly drifting off to sleep.
I can't help but wonder, if I did conceive would the story have been different?
Well I guess I will never know.
----------------------
The next day came quickly, I woke up and went downstairs to see every where empty, I guessed my mom must have taken the staffs to prepare for the party while my dad went to work.
Sluggishly I ate my breakfast before going back upstairs, opening my laptop ready to work when my mom's text came in to remind me of the time for the party.
"She way too excited for this." I muttered suspiciously, but decided to push that aside.
I turned on my laptop and went through my email, trying to keep up with the company's latest news.
"What?" I murmured noticing something different in a particular sector.
I'll have to check that when I assume office.
I was deeply engrossed in work and before I knew it the time for the party reached.
I stood up begrudgingly, getting ready for the party.
"They are still not back?" I asked myself as I noticed the empty house, left with no other choice I picked up one of the car keys, and then left.
By the time I arrived at the venue it had people in the the restaurant, didn't they normally book the whole place?
Something felt off, deciding to ignore my whole body screaming I should leave, I tried to locate the private room, and after asking a receptionist she ordered a waitress to lead me there.
I stood in front of the door, my heart pounding wildly against my chest, something felt off, I just couldn't place my finger on it.
Taking in a deep breath, I twisted the door knob and pushed the door open, color draining from my face as I saw the cold figure sitting nonchalantly at the other side of the table.
My mother had tricked me! She had set up a blind date, and out of all people to do that with she chose Damon Throne.
I immediately turned around ready to run away, when his words made me freeze.
"You're really going to run away after not seeing me for three years?" He asked, his voice cool and refreshing.
I turned back to see his dark eyes piercing at me nervously making me gulp.
"Hey.... Damon." I stuttered trying my best to calm my nerves.
A Gilbert shouldn't act like this, but who am I kidding? Back in my lovestruck past, I had insulted Damon badly because he was against me being with Derrick.
He was a very good friend, yet I pushed him away, now he is Infront of me as my blind date.
Mother, what the hell did you?
ELISA I got to work and Amber greeted me right at the entrance but my mind was too preoccupied to concentrate on whatever she was saying, if the meeting today works out I should be able to find out what Damon went through at home."Did you clear my schedule after lunch?" I asked Amber for the umpteenth time and she nodded in response.I was nervous, glancing at the ticking clock over and over again. As soon as the time hit 1pm, I jumped from my seat and packed all my things into my bag, swiftly sending a text to Damon that he need not pick me up today as there was a meeting at some restaurant down town.He replied with a sticker that said 'aye ma'am' making me smile a bit, the tension I had been feeling earlier dissipated a little.Anything to make him feel at ease and happy, I mean the man had already done so much for me, it was time for me to do the same.I got into my car and then sped to the café mentioned in the text. When I got there, my eyes scanned the whole place when anothe
ELISAI woke up as Damon got up from the bed, I wanted to follow after him but I held myself back, my mind spiraling with different scenarios as I tried to predict what could be going on in that head of his.He was open at the the same time secretive about what his family did to him.Taking in a deep breath I collected my thoughts and soon after Damon re-entered the room, tip toeing back to the bed.Laying down, he kissed my forehead while tracing my hairline with his thumb."I promise to protect you and our marriage, I'm not going to let them ruin this as well, I promise."He kissed my forehead once more before carefully returning to the cuddle, I know he said out that out loud but they sounded like words of affirmation.Like he wanted to assure himself everything would be as he planned. How I wish he would let me help, a problem shared was half solved wasn't it?Or did I prove to be a spouse he couldn't rely on in such situations?Shaking off that thought I tried to think positive,
DAMONThe whole place was quiet after Justin and Jenna left.Elisa and I agreed to avoid sleepovers to prevent them walking into me having one of those moments.Thankfully, no question was asked by the couple, and they willingly complied to the rule.We were in the bedroom, my head on Elisa's lap, her hand running through my hair, when I heard her sigh."It would soon be time right?" She asked, concern evident in her voice."Yes." I answered, waiting without doing anything was somehow nerve wrecking but he approached Elisa the first time, I don't want that monster hurting her, I'll rather go through the ringing ear and immense headache."I'm worried Damon." Elisa said, almost like a whisper causing me to furrow my brows."What's wrong? I'll be fine, I promise." I soothed, was it because of my parents?"I keep having these weird dreams, something keeps telling me you're going to die when the times up."As much as I wanted to act unbothered by that to ease her concerns, my body couldn't
DAMONSeeing my parents standing in front of me brought back all those nasty memories I had tried hard to forget.I thought they didn't bother with me anymore, I assumed they would want nothing to do with me after I left. What more do they want for me?As a child I tried being as perfect as I could but whatever I did was never enough for them, any mistakes I made, no matter how little would always come with a punishment, severe ones.As for the punishments in particular, I don't even want to think about."Big brother." Bella squealed and threw her hands around me almost instantly, making me soften a bit.Bella was the only thing that kept me pushing during those dark hours.I was thankful she didn't have to face what I did and was mostly kept in the dark about it.My parents adored her, I indulged her but leaving to come to this country I planned to put everything behind me.In my past life it had taken me so long to escape my parents grasp, one that ended in me committing a crime, mu
ELISA With Justin teasing Damon, he unintentionally revealed the fact that he hates children. To be honest I noticed he stayed at arm's length with Liam but I never thought too much of it.Was that why he's acting so withdrawn?Had I once again made a decision based on myself alone?Liam quickly distracted me and I focused on him till we reached home, I wanted to make the first move to speak to Damon but he immediately announced he was going to the kitchen. He was probably still mad, I might over reacted a little bit. Then the door bell rang, Justin stood up in a hurry to take it thinking it was Jenna but instead he froze at the door calling for Damon. What could be so important that could need Damon's attention? Was this another one of his antics? He was a grown ass man for God sake.I picked up Liam holding him closely to myself just in case."Aunt Eli, is everything okay?" I was about to respond that we were playing a game when what I heard next stopped me."Hello son." An aged vo
DAMONElisa asking for an IVF trial after 4 years of marriage was not something I expected.I was okay with it being just us two.Two of us against the whole world, nothing more, nothing less.I love Eli, fuck, I love her so much I can hardly remember days I went by without loving her.Having a child was a whole other different story.I don't know if I would be able to love them right. Thanks to Elisa's parents being there in the early stage of my life, I have an iota of what parental love looks like, but such things are worth nothing if they were not from your own blood and flesh. After Elisa told me about her decision to try out for IVF I found myself occasionally drifting in thoughts.Elisa would make a great mother, I have seen her with Liam, the two are a pair I adore watching, though I barely had any interaction with Liam.Another thing that bothered me was my deal, the time was almost over but I was scared something would happen. After all humanity has never registered the devi
