Charlotte's POV

My eyelids slowly fluttered open. Everything appeared blurry in my eyesight. I blinked repeatedly to clear the haze from my vision.

Then I felt a severe pain. It pulsed through my ribs and shoulder, spreading down my body whenever I tried to move. I sucked in a sharp breath and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, my mind struggling to piece together what happened.

The rooftop.

Odin.

The gun.

Michael.

The memories flashed in my mind, lasting only for a short while. Thank God I was

Dalton's POV Jayden's head jerked toward me, his eyes silently asking whether we should trust Morgan. I gave him a subtle shake of my head.I've got this. Then I faced Morgan.“You don't need to know what we're doing,” I said, unfriendly.Morgan raised an eyebrow as though my boldness greatly amazed him.“I'm not your puppet anymore,” I continued, my voice firm. “You don't get to send me somewhere, give me half the information, and expect me to complete your dirty work.”Morgan watched me silently. Then he smiled.“Good.”“What?” I blurted out, my brows arching together.“You're finally learning to think for yourself,” Morgan remarked, straightening his jacket like a gentleman.“Then perhaps you'll understand why I came here.”I folded my arms.“I'm listening.”Morgan's expression darkened.“I'm a werewolf.”There was a grave silence. Jayden's attention snapped toward him while I stared at him incredulously. Werewolves were supposed to fight together as a pack. Why would he send me t

  • Reunited Lovers:My RejectedMate Is Now A Renowned Journalist   Building Something Disastrous

Dalton's POVThe laboratory had become my second home. Unfortunately, it was a home I don't think I would ever grow sick of until I accomplished my mission.I walked through the sterile corridor in a white medical gown that hung over my black trousers and shirt, the sleeves secured with blue nitrile gloves. A disposable cap covered my hair, while protective goggles rested around my neck after hours of wearing them.Dark bags of sleep sagged under my eyelids, and my movements were sluggish and slow. I looked quite exhausted. This kind of exhaustion didn't disappear after a good night's sleep—even though I'd barely had one in weeks. For the past month, I've spent lots of money, time, and whatever remained of my patience on this project. We ran experiment after experiment, tweaked our approach, changed the variables, and started over whenever something went wrong. And something always went wrong. Some specimens rejected the foreign organism almost immediately. Others survived the initial

Charlotte's POV Out of fear, I stopped so abruptly that my feet scraped against the hard ground. Michael leapt down from the wall, landing effortlessly a few feet away from me. He straightened, looking completely unbothered."And even if you tried scaling those walls,” he continued, brushing his hands together. “They are a little too high for you to simply leap over."I slowly wheeled around, looking dumbstruck. He had been there the entire time, watching me. Gosh! This was so embarrassing."You..." I pursed my lips, arms dropping to my sides in protest.Michael raised an eyebrow."Me."I glanced to the side and saw Corey and Skyler standing a few meters away from us. Both men had their arms folded across their chests, looking quite unimpressed. Sure enough, they had known about my escape plan, yet they did nothing to stop me until now. Gosh! I feel so miserable right now.I released a long, frustrated breath."How did you know?"Skyler tilted his head toward the mansion."The moment

  • Reunited Lovers:My RejectedMate Is Now A Renowned Journalist   Plotting My Escape

Charlotte's POVMy stomach growled endlessly as I felt the pangs of hunger gradually twisting my intestines into painful knots. Helplessly, I glanced at the dinner Marie had left on the table. I had been stubborn enough to ignore the first meal, but hunger was beginning to overpower my pride now.If I wanted to get out of here, I needed strength, and that meant eating the food I swore not to taste. Left with no choice, I pulled the chair closer and sat down. Then I devoured the meal, barely pausing between bites. I hadn't eaten properly since the previous night, and my body seemed determined to remind me of it.When the plate was finally empty, I picked up the medicine bottle Jase had left behind and examined it. The liquid inside looked strange. It was crystal clear, with shiny particles swimming inside each time I shook the bottle."What the hell did Jase put in this?" I muttered, turning the bottle between my fingers.Of course, no one was there to answer me. Jase had been long gon

Charlotte's POVDesolately, I stood by the window with my arms crossed over my chest, watching darkness creep over the trees surrounding Michael's mansion. The night wind blew through the slightly open window, stirring the curtains around me.I had been trapped in this room since morning. And I was already fed up. All I wanted was to leave the Winter Moon Pack and put as much distance between myself and Michael as possible. I just wanted my apartment, my office, my computer, my normal life—anything that didn't involve him constantly appearing whenever I was in danger, then deciding what was best for me.My fingers clasped around my arms. I was leaving tonight. I just hadn't figured out how. The lock suddenly snapped, drawing my attention. I spun around, watching the door swing open. My muscles tensed, expecting Michael.Instead, a tiny figure appeared beside Marie.Dwayne.He wore a soft cream-colored sweater over small black trousers, with tiny white slippers covering his feet. A cur

Thank God I was still alive.Suddenly, the door creaked open, ushering Michael and another man inside the room. Michael noticed that I had regained consciousness. His countenance brightened, the worrisome look on his face temporarily fading. He quickly dropped the bowl in his hands and pulled a seat closer to me.“Thank God you're finally awake. How're you feeling?” Michael asked, concern laced in his voice.I didn't say a word. Instead, I gave him an incredulous look. When he saw I wasn't ready to speak to hi
