Michaelson's POV

Charlotte froze, her eyes widening as she stared at me. She instinctively shifted back, putting a little distance between us, but the unease in her eyes told me she already understood how serious I was.

"Why does that matter to you?" she asked, cautiously observing my reaction.

"Because I'm asking."

"And I don't have to answer."

Unable to contain my jealousy, I paced restlessly around the corridor.

"You were with another man." I pointed out enviously.

"And you were with Lydia,

Morgan's POVBy the time I brought Adrianna to the cottage, dawn had already appeared over the forest. The small wooden house was hidden beyond a narrow trail that few people knew existed, far enough from the main roads and pack territory that even a determined search party would have trouble finding it. I had used this place whenever I needed somewhere to stay and think about my life. And of course, my revenge plans.Adrianna sat on the edge of the bed, her back against the wall as she watched every move I made around the house. She had barely spoken since I carried her out of the asylum. I had left a bowl of food and a bottle of water on the table, along with a clean shirt and a pair of trousers from my wardrobe there. Her clothes were filthy and torn from the harsh conditions she endured, and judging by the way her gaze lingered on the food, hunger was fighting with her suspicion."You should eat," I said, placing another plate on the table. But she didn't attempt to pick up the sp

Michaelson's POVThe sharp smell of antiseptic filled the ward room as I sat on the edge of the examination bed, my injured leg stretched out in front of me. The metal trap was still clamped around my right leg.Jase stood beside me, studying it with a crease between his brows. He had already spent several minutes examining the mechanism, occasionally turning the trap with a pair of forceps while muttering under his breath."I've seen traps like this before," he said finally. "But whoever set this one knew what they were doing."I glanced down at the blood-stained metal."Can you get it off?"Jase gave me a sideways look."Hopefully." he quipped, pulling a small tray closer "But if I force the jaws apart," he continued, arranging the sterile equipment carefully, "I could tear the muscle underneath. If I cut through the wrong section, the tension could make the trap snap tighter, making it more difficult to release.""Then find another way," I coaxed stiffly."I already did," Jase rep

Michaelson's POV I sat at the long oak table in my study with several reports spread before me, going through the latest patrol schedules while Corey stood across from me. Skyler had just returned from the southern boundary, giving me an update on the movement of rogues near our territory."The southern patrol needs three extra wolves," Skyler said, tapping one of the reports. "The unit stationed there found fresh tracks near the old ridge this morning. There's nothing serious yet, but whoever left them was moving close to the boundary.""Double the patrol there tonight," I replied, making a note beside the report. "And tell them not to engage unless they have confirmation that the wolves crossed our territory."Skyler leaned against the edge of the table, hands interlocked."I'll send the order."I picked up another report, barely getting through the first few lines when a sharp mind-link suddenly hit my consciousness.{Alpha! The Asylum has been breached}The voice belonged to one

Morgan's POVReaching for the front door, Melissa bolted out of her room and hurried toward me. She stopped at the doorway, her gaze dropping briefly to the car keys in my hand.“You just came back, and now you're leaving again?” she exclaimed, placing both hands on her waist.“It's very important,” I told her, my hand still holding the doorknob.“Where are you going?” she asked curiously.I glanced at her over my shoulder. “On a small adventure back to my homeland.”Her eyebrows lifted as she realized exactly what I meant. “Winter Moon Pack?”I gave her a faint smirk and pushed the door open. “Exactly.”“Can I come with you?”I paused and looked at her properly. Did she really not know that werewolves were dangerous to humans, and I wasn't going there for child's play?“Why?” I demanded. She folded her arms and leaned against the wall. “I'm bored here. Besides, things have been awful since I quarreled with Charlotte.”I chuckled under my breath. “Is that because she caught us having

Morgan's POVI returned to the laboratory later that night. The atmosphere felt cold and unsettling as I walked inside. Although the lights were on and the machines hummed quietly, I could neither see movement nor hear voices anywhere.“Dalton?” I called, narrowing my eyes as I walked deeper into the facility.I reached a curtain separating one section of the laboratory from another and pulled it aside. Something launched itself at my face immediately. Tiny claws scraped against my skin before I knocked the creature away. But it stubbornly latched onto my necktie.I grabbed at it as it dangled from my chest, snarling viciously and trying to climb back toward my face. It was the mouse Dalton had used for his experiment, except it wasn't behaving like one anymore. Its fur was matted with blood. Its tiny body had become unusually aggressive, and its mouth stretched open to reveal rows of jagged teeth. And its eyes? They were red and wild.Irritation bubbled into disgust as my black eyes

Charlotte's POVNight had already settled over Asheville by the time Michaelson pulled up in front of my compound. The street was quiet, with only a few lamps casting pale streaks of light across the pavement. I opened the door and stepped out, turning back toward the car.Michael lowered the window.“We could try checking all the hospitals in Asheville for Dwayne’s birth records. If he was born here, there might still be something we can find.”I crossed my arms against my chest, considering his suggestion.“That could work too.”Neither of us spoke afterward. The silence that stretched between us left me strangely aware of his domineering presence. It wasn't as uncomfortable as it used to be, but it wasn't exactly comfortable either. Glancing through the open window, I saw he was still watching me.I cleared my throat awkwardly.“You should take Dwayne home. He needs to sleep properly.”Michael turned his head toward the backseat. Little Dwayne was already fast asleep, his small bod
